SUMMARY:Mount Disappointment and San Gabriel Peak
DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION: This 5-mile out-and-back hike isn’t a walk in the park. It is located in the Angeles National Forest. It’s a steep climb that zigzags between paved roads and dirt trails\, keeping your legs (and your sense of adventure) on their toes. Along the way\, you’ll enjoy beautiful views\, interesting rock formations\, and a mix of sun and shade that can change the temperature and wind exposure in minutes. \nWe’ll start at Mount Disappointment\, take in the views\, and then continue to San Gabriel Peak for a snack break while soaking up even more incredible scenery. \nSteep\, scenic\, and full of surprises — this hike is proof that even “disappointment” can lead to spectacular views! \nDETAILS:\n· Hike Organizer(s): Michele E.\n· Meet: Trailhead near small parking lot at 7:15 am\,\ndeparture at 7:30 am sharp (Mar 21).\n· Distance: Approximately 5.0 miles.\n· Elevation gain: Approximately 1604 feet.\n· Time: Approximately 3.5 hours hiking including a snack break.\n· Conditioning: You need to be in generally good physical condition.\n· Dogs: Dogs are allowed.\n· Restrooms: None closest one is at Redbox)\n· Adventure Pass: Required. \nIMPORTANT NOTES: We’ll hike at a slower pace and ask everyone to stay with the group for a friendly and safe outing. SUMMARY:Ventura Land Trust Trail\, Ventura CA
DESCRIPTION:Ventura Land Trust has opened up a new trail in Ventura\, just above the high school where the trail work has been going on for four years and it’s finally open. The hike is similar to the Ray Miller Trail\, i.e. It is 6 miles out and back. Right now it is a beautiful hike with lots of wildflowers and the views are beautiful. I could not find any limitation on number of attendees\, but another leader usually limits it to 10 people so I am limiting it to 15 until we learn more. We start off at the parking lot at the end of Hall Canyon Road and hike up to the communication tower and then back. \nTake the 101 Ventura and exit Seward. Go north (away from the ocean). Go past Thompson and Main St. to Poli. Take a left on Poli and almost immediately make a sharp right turn onto Hall Canyon Road. Stay on Hall Canyon Road (do not turn on Fairview or Sunset) and Hall Canyon turns into a street that has some traffic bumps\, follow that for less than quarter mile to the parking lot. \nPlease review the guidelines (link to the guidelines) to join our hikes.\nRestrictions apply for your safety and ours: \n\nDon’t show up unless you’re shown on the “Attending” list.\nPlan on completing the entire hike at a moderate pace.\n\nDISCLAIMER/RELEASE OF LIABILITY – PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY \nThe hike host is a volunteer and not responsible for the group. Safety should be a priority for everyone in the group. Please treat this meet-up as hiking with a group of friends. If you become fatigued and unable to continue the hike\, it is expected you will advise the hike host of this and return to our starting point on your own. If you are able to proceed\, it is expected that you will maintain line of sight with other members of the group at all times and help to promote the group’s safety and fitness goals.\nOutdoor sports and other events we plan can be inherently dangerous and accidents may happen. By participating in any posted event\, you are taking responsibility for your own safety and well-being. The Weekday Trailblazers Meetup Group and its organizers and hosts are not trained leaders and we do not confirm the qualifications of any of its members to lead or participate in trips. All participants take full responsibility for their own actions.\nIf you choose to sign up for this or any Weekday Trailblazers Meetup event\, you are releasing the Weekday Trailblazers Meetup Group\, its organizers\, and hosts from all liability in case of possible injuries. Your personal safety depends on your own judgment and experience.\nAll participants must be 18 or older\, or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Sorry\, we don’t allow “Plus-Ones” on our hikes. Please join the group\, then sign up for a hike.

SUMMARY:Replacement Hike: Mentryville – Pico Canyon Trail
DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION:\nSaturday\, February 21\, 2026\nSince our planned hike to Paradise Falls was cancelled due to trail closures\, we’re pivoting to a fantastic local alternative: \nMentryville: Pico Canyon Trail\nWe’ll start from Mentryville\, a historic Santa Clarita Valley site located at the base of Pico Canyon’s chaparral-covered slopes. Mentryville was an 1880s oil boom town built around its oil well\, Pico No. 4. Named for Charles Mentry\, several historic buildings still stand today\, including a grand thirteen-room mansion\, a one-room schoolhouse\, and a barn. Both Mentryville and Pico No. 4 are registered California State Historical Landmarks.\nThe hike begins on an asphalt road\, transitions to a fire road\, and eventually narrows to single-track trail. Pico Canyon Trail is one of our local gems — in just a short distance\, you’ll feel miles away from the hustle and bustle and immersed in wide-open backcountry with beautiful canyon views. \nDETAILS: \n\nMeet: Mentryville Parking lot where Pico Canyon Road ends at 8:15am\, departure at 8:30 am sharp (Feb 21).\nDistance: Approximately 6.8 miles.\nElevation gain: Approximately 1\,272 feet.\nTime: Approximately 3.5 hours hiking including one snack break (brisk pace).\nConditioning: You need to be in generally good physical condition (this is not a beginner hike).\nDogs: Must be on leash.\nRestrooms – Yes at the park.\nAdventure Pass: Not required.\n\nIMPORTANT NOTES: We’ll hike at a brisk pace and ask everyone to stay with the group for a friendly and safe outing. Hiking may be hazardous due to uneven footing\, stream crossings\, exposures\, snakes\, bugs\, poison oak\, etc. Please be aware of your abilities and their limits. You are responsible for your own safety and well-being. This event may be cancelled due to any inclement weather or other conditions.
