On a clear day\, the Channel Islands are easily within sight. \nMost of the trail is exposed\, so sunscreen is highly recommended and plenty of water. \nWe’ll meet in the parking lot near the Ray Miller Trailhead (look for the brilliant yellow sign). There is a parking fee in the lot (or free with state parking pass). DESCRIPTION:It’s still going to be a bit warm\, and humid\, but if we start at 8:30 I think we will be okay. We will go up the Ray Miller trail to the fire road and back\, about 6 miles. SUMMARY:Intermediate 8-9 miles Ray Miller Trail and Overlook Trail in Malibu
DESCRIPTION:Join us on an out and back hike up the Ray Miller Trail and the Overlook Trail. We’ll turn back around the Guadalasca Trail intersection. We’ll enjoy beautiful ocean views as we descend. We’ll pick up about 1500’ gain on this 8-9 mile adventure. IF it gets too hot we will have the option to shorten the hike. \nLying along the brilliant blue Pacific Ocean at the west end of Malibu (just shy of Port Hueneme)\, the swelling blue ocean is rivaled in beauty by the undulating native California grasslands. On a clear day\, the Channel Islands are easily within sight. \nMost of the trail is exposed\, so sunscreen is highly recommended and plenty of water. It is mosquito season so it’s up to you whether you should bring bug repellent. \nWe’ll meet in the parking lot near the Ray Miller Trailhead (look for the brilliant yellow sign). There is a parking fee in the lot (or free with state parking pass). I posted the northern Topanga State Park’s loop in the past\, now we’ll take on it’s southern loop.
