SUMMARY:Santa Cruz Island Day Trip with Island Packers
DESCRIPTION:Nancy and Patricia are scheduling another trip to Santa Cruz Island. It’s becoming a yearly thing. Buy your own ticket from Island Packers for Ventura Harbor to the Scorpion Cove landing. For now 9:00 is the only option but sometimes they add another boat if it fills up (OUTBOUND)\, We will return on the 4:30 PM boat (INBOUND) getting to Ventura Harbor at 5:45. \nThere will be no limitations for our hike because Island Packers will only take as many as the boat can hold so you can bring as many friends as you like. Please book your passage before you sign-up with WeekdayTrailblazers on Meetup\, as the boat may fill-up. You don’t need to sign-up your friends on Meetup. \nThe trip by boat lasts a little over an hour leaving Ventura Harbor at 9:00 AM. You need to get to Ventura Harbor about 8:15. They want us to be at the dock 45 minutes prior to departure (8:15 AM). Once we arrive on the Island\, we’ll hike 2.5 miles out to Potato Harbor via Cavern Point\, and return along Potato Harbor Road. When we reach the camp ground we’ll have lunch. Bring your own lunch. The hike is very moderate and we should have plenty of time for lunch and some sightseeing at the historic ranch\, museum\, or extra hiking into Scorpion Canyon. Our return trip leaves Scorpion Anchorage at 4:30 PM. \nYou must bring your own WATER and FOOD. There are no concessions on the island. You can drop your food in one of their protective boxes so you don’t have to carry it on the hike. You will also have to book your own passage on the boat.
