SUMMARY:Hill Canyon starting at Santa Rosa Regional Park
DESCRIPTION:Time and date are as noted above. We will start this hike at Santa Rosa Regional Park at the parking area in Hill Canyon but we will take a different route than I usually take. We will cross the bridge over the runoff creek and stay on the trail to hike the Hawk Canyon trail\, there are trees and the path is shady. We will go up the hill\, but we will take the turn-off path and take that route up to the top where the Plateau Rim loop ends. There we will turn around and go back down the Hawk Canyon trail. So this hike is an out and back. The Hawk Canyon Trail connects to Western Plateau Trail back to the parking lot. This is approximately 5 miles with an elevation gain of approximately 1000 feet.\nLunch will be at the Alamo restaurant at Borchard and Michael\, just off Hwy 101\, this lunch supports COSF.\nDirections:\nFrom Moorpark Road in the Santa Rosa Valley\, drive west on Santa Rosa Road for 3.7 miles\, turn left (south) on Hill Canyon Road for about 0.6 miles to the parking lot. \nFrom the 101 Freeway in Camarillo\, take exit 52 onto Santa Rosa Road and drive northeast.
