SUMMARY:Last Hike of the Year: Grasslands Trail to Century Lake & the Rock Pool
DESCRIPTION:Join us in popular Malibu Creek State Park for the last hike of 2019. We’ll start on the Grasslands Trail off of Mulholland Hwy and head south on a scenic hike over rolling hills and through open fields of grain. \n\n\nOur first destination is the Rock Pool\, a placid stretch of water framed by volcanic cliffs. Cliff divers and rock climbers will provide the entertainment. This generically wild-looking site has served as a backdrop for outdoor sequences filmed for Planet of the Apes\, South Pacific\, Tarzan\, Swiss Family Robinson\, and many other productions. \nNext\, we’ll head for the shaded shores of Century Lake. Ducks\, coots\, and herons frequent the lake\, their squalling and callings reverberating off the weathered\, honeycombed cliffs rising from the lake’s far shore. Redwing blackbirds flit among the cattails and rushes.
