SUMMARY:Saugus to the Sea Road to Mission Point Trail
DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION:\nOur adventure begins near the parking area off The Old Road. This moderately challenging hike takes about 4 hours to complete. Depending on the season and recent rainfall\, you may encounter a few creek crossings along the way. It has a gradual incline that makes the hike enjoyable without being overwhelming\, and we may also share the trail with a few mountain bikers.\nOpen year-round\, this trail offers beautiful scenery in every season. You can choose your own adventure\, continue all the way to Mission Point or opt for a shorter\, easier turnaround at Jones Junction. Either way\, it’s a fantastic day outdoors. \nDETAILS:\n· Hike leader volunteer(s): Michele\n· Meet: Saugus at the Sea Road Trailhead at 7:15 am\, departure at 7:30 am sharp (Feb 28).\n· Distance: Approximately 8.8 miles.\n· Elevation gain: Approximately 1\,699 feet.\n· Time: Approximately 4 hours hiking including a snack break.\n· Conditioning: You need to be in generally good physical condition.\n· Dogs: Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.\n· Restrooms: None.\n· Adventure Pass: Not required.\n· Turnaround: If you want an easier hike option (5.9 mi./1\,328 ft. gain) you can turn around at Jones Junction. \nIMPORTANT NOTES: We’ll hike at a brisk pace and ask everyone to stay with the group for a friendly and safe outing. Hiking may be hazardous due to uneven footing\, stream crossings\, exposures\, snakes\, bugs\, poison oak\, etc. Please be aware of your abilities and their limits. You are responsible for your own safety and well-being. This event may be cancelled due to inclement weather or other conditions. SUMMARY:🚴Bike Ride on San Gabriel River & Rio Hondo Bike Paths & Chinese Take-Out Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Join us on a beautiful 36 mile bicycle ride through the San Gabriel Valley on bike trails and streets. E-bikes are welcome also. \nWe’ll ride over the Santa Fe Dam on the San Gabriel River Bike Trail to the Whittier Narrows Dam where we’ll cross over to the Rio Hondo Bike Trail and ride past the El Monte Airport to Peck Road Park for a break. \nOn the way back to Encanto Park we’ll stop at the 99 Ranch Market which has a deli where you can get a bite to eat. Their specialty is the “Chinese Burrito.” \nBIKE RIDE QUALIFICATIONS: \nThis ride is for all bike riders who are comfortable riding on streets and and fairly flat bike trails for 36 miles at a speed of 12 to 15 miles per hour. This ride is mostly flat with no hills. \nSAFETY: \n*** You are required to wear a helmet to ride with our group. *** \n\nMEETING PLACE AND TIME: \nPlease arrive at Encanto Park parking lot at 8:30AM to get ready for the bike ride. \nMeet at the south side of of the parking lot at 8:45AM for introductions and a safety talk. \nWe will depart at 9:00AM. \nRSVP: If you change your mind and are not coming on this bike ride\, please change your RSVP to “No” so we are not waiting for you. \n\nBIKE ROUTE: \nSee the Ride with GPS bike route here:\nhttps://ridewithgps.com/routes/34698688 \n\nPLEASE FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES: \nBICYCLE: Make sure your bicycle is in good working condition with the tires properly inflated and the chain lubricated prior to the ride. \nSPARE TIRE TUBES: You need to know how to change your own bicycle tire tubes if you get a flat tire. Please bring 2 spare tire tubes\, levers\, a small bicycle pump or CO2 cartridges to fill your tires with air once you change the bicycle tire tube.
