While there is at times a water cache near mi91\, it should not be relied upon and may not be maintained at the time of this trip. While it is pretty remote at about an hour and a half from San Diego\, the hike is excellent and one that is a good intro level hike with a gradual incline and nice views. SUMMARY:Pacific Crest Trail to Grass Mountain + Spruce Draw
DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION: This is a great local hike on a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). We start near Green Valley Ranger station using the PCT heading North. We will stay on the PCT and continue North. This is a beautiful shady portion of the PCT that takes us to remote Spruce Draw Canyon out and back via the PCT. We will cross the fire road leading up to Grass Mtn\, on the way back and stop briefly if it is clear to enjoy the views of the Mojave Desert and Tehachapi before heading back down. \nDETAILS:\n• Hike leader volunteer(s): Michele E\n• Meet: Pacific Crest Trailhead at 7:45 am\, departure at 8:00 am sharp\n• Distance: Approximately 7.3 miles.\n• Elevation gain: Approximately 1\,673 feet.\n• Time: Approximately 4.0 hours hiking including a snack break.\n• Conditioning: You need to be in generally good physical condition.\n• Dogs: Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.\n• Restrooms: None.\n• Adventure Pass: Required. \nIMPORTANT NOTES: We’ll hike at a brisk pace and ask everyone to stay with the group for a friendly and safe outing.
