The valley lies at the headwaters of the East Fork of the Kaweah River\, which rises at the eastern part of the valley and flows northwest. \n\n3 open spots available\nDates: Aug 22-25\, so max 3 nights of backpacking 4. SUMMARY:Carpinteria Bluffs Trail & Nature Preserve - Gentler Intermediate
DESCRIPTION:To beat this insane heat\, let’s explore Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve to Carpinteria State Beach\, passing through Tar Pits Park and Seal Sanctuary Overlook!\nI pre-hiked today. Yes\, it was cool as it was 67F when I was left there around 11am. \nThis beautiful\, beachside green space is one of the last undeveloped strips of land in Carpinteria that go along the ocean and offers outdoor recreational activities like hiking\, walking\, or biking on dirt trails and/or sand and more. \nCarpinteria Bluffs is also a popular viewing area for Pacific Harbor seals that often lounge on the beach. Occasionally visitors can even spot migrating grey whales and dolphins.\nhttps://californiawanderland.com/carpinteria-bluffs-tar-pits-park/ \nThis is a 4-5 mile hike with an elevation gain/loss of about 300-400’. \nDirection: Take the 101 Freeway to exit 85 for Bailard Avenue. At the end of the offramp\, turn left toward the coast on Bailard Avenue. Drive straight across the intersection of Carpinteria Avenue into a dirt parking area in Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve. \nPlease review the guidelines (guidelines) to join our hikes.

• Plan on KEEPING UP with the group and completing the entire hike at a moderate pace\, or please find an alternative hike that better suits your hiking level.
