SUMMARY:Hondo Canyon:Backbone Trail
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/hondo-canyon-backbone-trail \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nThis is a great trail for warmer weather as it has a lot of shaded areas. This trail has several canopy trees that cover the area. Will also have open field areas as well that are not shaded so we are starting the hike a little earlier. A side note will also experience some overgrown sections and some poison oak. Some people call this trail “The Tropical Forest” So should be quite pretty. Carpooling at our same meetup spot will be offered for anyone who wishes to carpool or follow to the trailhead (Best donuts located 2325 Kuehner Dr # 127 Simi Valley off the 118 freeway at 6:45 am) I have attached the AllTrails link for stats\, directions and photos.. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/hondo-canyon-backbone-trail \nTrail out and back\nMiles 6.8\nRated moderate\nElevation Gain 1630 ft\nDogs not allowed on this trail\nParking Road side \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules:\n1. If you need to take several breaks (not counting quick breather breaks) and stops throughout a hike\, the hike maybe too much for your ability. Please check each event for miles\, elevation gain\, and difficulty rating. The higher the elevation gain means more incline and less leveled off sections. We offer all levels of hikes from moderate to hard to advanced only. We encourage everyone to not give up work on your core by joining our easier moderate Events and then joining our harder hikes once you are ready. 😊
