SUMMARY:Hike the Entire Backbone Trail\, 8 Days with camping and meals included
DESCRIPTION:Come join the 19th annual Backbone Trek\, hosted by the Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council! For a fee of $550 this guided event includes camping every night in a State Park campground\, transportation to and from the trailheads and all your meals. You will need to provide your own camping gear (tent\, sleeping bag\, etc) that will be trucked for you between campgrounds so you don’t need to carry it. \nYou can find all information about the event at https://www.smmtc.org/bbtrek/ including a complete multi-day itinerary and descriptions of each day’s hike. The trek is limited to the first 25 people who sign up. \nTo register for the event\, you will need to download the registration form from that web page listed above and mail it to the organizers. Signing up here will not do anything except show your friends that you intend to go!

(tracks from previous trip to camp and waterfall Afternoon hike up to Hellhole Flat  Hike out\nRockhouse Canyon – Explore an Indian village\nAnza Borrego Epic – This one is maybe too epic. Can also be done as a shuttle if road to Sheep Canyon opens up (was not open when I was there in the Fall). \nThoughts?

This is one of those lesser-known local hikes you hear about from a from a friend who has trekked the trail a few times. This is a beautiful section of the Pacific Coast Trail (PCT) to explore – hope you join us! Please note we’ll be keeping the group smaller as there is limited parking\, and we won’t have a sweep so will need to stay together. \nHike leader volunteers: Tim R.\nMeet: Mint Canyon PCT Trailhead at 8:45 am\, departure at 9:00 am sharp (Feb 29).\nDistance: Approximately 8.35 miles.\nElevation gain: Approximately 1\,552 feet.\nTime: Approximately 4.5 hours hiking including a snack break.\nConditioning: You need to be in generally good physical condition.\nDogs: Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.\nRestrooms – None.\nAdventure Pass: Not required. \nIMPORTANT NOTES: We’ll hike at a brisk pace and ask everyone to stay with the group for a friendly and safe outing. Any guest that you wish to invite should join the Community Hiking Club (CHC) to participate. No stream crossings\, exposures\, bugs or other warnings. This event will be cancelled due to rain at the start of the hike. \nESSENTIAL GEAR:\n· Hiking shoes/boots/poles.\n· Layers recommended.
