SUMMARY:Los Pinetos Trail to the Tower out and back
DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION:\nThis trek is all uphill to the peak (especially the adrenaline-pumping first mile)\, and then it’s downhill on the return. Our journey begins by navigating a single-track trail through stunning chaparral\, enveloped by Toyon\, California Bay\, yuccas\, and\, oaks. Along the path\, we’ll seize the chance to hike up to the Communications tower\, injecting an extra dose of eye candy if it’s a clear day. \nHike leader volunteers: Paul H\nMeet: Los Pinetos Trailhead at 7:00 am\, departure at 7:15 am sharp (June 15).\nDistance: Approximately 7. (ish) miles.\nElevation gain: Approximately 2\,574 feet.\nTime: Approximately 3.5 hours hiking including a snack break.\nConditioning: You need to be in generally good physical condition.\nDogs: Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.\nRestrooms: None.\nAdventure Pass: Not required. \nIMPORTANT NOTES: We’ll hike at a brisk pace and ask everyone to stay with the group for a friendly and safe outing. There are no expected stream crossings\, exposures\, bugs or other warnings. As always\, people may slip and fall\, encounter poison oak\, rattlesnakes\, etc. on this hike. This event may be cancelled due to inclement weather before or at the start of the hike. \nESSENTIAL GEAR:\n· Hiking boots and poles.\n· Clothing layers recommended.\n· Snacks and 2+ liters of water and electrolytes or salt tablets.\n· Hat and sunscreen. \nAdditional Hiking and Survival Gear Recommendations (link) \nTHIS HIKE RANKING: Level 3\, Intermediate (see chart below).\nPlease only sign up to attend hikes that are consistent with your ability.
