SUMMARY:Bobcats on the Skyline - A Semi-Gentler Rock 'n Roller
DESCRIPTION:We don’t often start at the Foothill Drive trailhead for the eastern Los Robles Trail System\, so let’s correct that by doing a 5.3-mile\, 800′ lazy figure-8 hike out of there. \nThis area is well-known for its loose rocks\, and the first mile or so of the route is particularly rocky\, with a couple of giant steps up the hillside. Gloves and one trekking pole recommended (you will need one hand to steady yourself on the steps up). The middle mile of the hike is also quite rocky\, but once we’re back on the fire road\, things smooth out\, with even some shade on the return route. The last mile is a trail that I had never been on before scouting the route (Scott will undoubtedly tell me that he’s very familiar with the route). \nOur route will include the relatively new Bobcat and Skyline Trails\, and if you look closely at who has adopted the trail\, you’ll find the name of a recent new member of WTB! \nDirections: \nExit 101 at Hampshire and drive southeast just past the construction. Turn right at the Sinclair station onto Foothill Drive\, and look for permitted parking along the road. The trailhead is at the crook in the road up ahead on the left\, with a Montessori school on the right and apartment buildings on the left. \nPlease review the guidelines to join our hikes.\nRestrictions apply for your safety and ours: \n\nDon’t show up unless you’re shown on the “Attending” list.\nPlan on completing the entire hike at a moderate pace.\nAll participants must be 18 or older\, or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.\nNo “Plus Ones” or dogs on Weekday Trailblazer hikes.\nSunscreen and bug spray suggested.\n\nDISCLAIMER/RELEASE OF LIABILITY – PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY\nThe hike host is a volunteer and not responsible for the group or its safety. Safety should be a priority for everyone in the group. Please treat this meet-up as hiking with a group of friends. If you become fatigued and unable to continue the hike\, it is expected you will advise the hike host of this and return to our starting point on your own. If you are able to proceed\, it is expected that you will maintain line of sight with other members of the group at all times and help to promote the group’s safety and fitness goals. \nOutdoor sports and other events we plan can be inherently dangerous and accidents may happen. By participating in any posted event\, you are taking responsibility for your own safety and well-being. The Weekday Trailblazers Meetup Group and its organizers are not trained leaders and we do not confirm the qualifications of any of its members to lead or participate in trips. All participants take full responsibility for their own actions. \nIf you choose to sign up for this or any Weekday Trailblazers Meetup event\, you are releasing the Weekday Trailblazers Meetup Group and its organizers from all liability in case of possible injuries. Your personal safety depends on your own judgment and experience.\nAll participants must be 18 or older\, or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. No “Plus Ones” or dogs on Weekday Trailblazer hikes.
