DESCRIPTION:Join our community for a peaceful hike for world peace on the beautiful Los Padres Trail and Vista Loop to help raise funds for world peace. Enjoy a beautiful day in serene surroundings with like-minded spiritual friends while supporting a worthy cause. \nTushita KBC is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization run by volunteers that has been serving the Conejo Valley area for over sixteen years. All proceeds from this event will go directly towards our community outreach efforts to help those who wish to find inner peace.\n​\nThere are many ways to participate in this fun event.\nYou can be a part of the hike\, sponsor a hiker\, or attend the chanted meditation and lunch!\n​\nSunday\, June 25th\n8am Meet for Coffee and Light snacks\n8:30am Hike begins\n11:30am Meet at Tushita KBC for a chanted meditation and delicious lunch!\n​\n$100 entrance fee per hiker. Get friends\, family\, fellow hikers to help sponsor your your entrance fee\, or sponsor other hikers if you can’t attend. If you can’t meet the entrance fee\, Steve Cochran will Sponsor you to the extent of the entrance fee. \nYou can use the Paypal logo at our website meditateinwestlake.org to make contributions. These fees will be used. to offset Ticket Charges at the Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center for highschool students and Retirement Home Residents for our upcoming February 2024 Talk by renown Buddhist Monk Gen-la Kelsang Jampa.\n​\nDIRECTIONS:\nMeet at the south end of Moorpark Road where it intersects with Greenmeadow Avenue.\nTraveling from Agoura Hills – north on the 101 fwy\, exit Moorpark Rd and turn left.\nTraveling from Newbury Park – south on the 101 fwy\, exit Moorpark Rd and turn right. \nDrive about a half mile until Moorpark Rd dead-ends. Turn right onto Greenmeadow Ave and an immediate left into a dirt lot for parking. There are also paved parking spaces adjacent to the dirt lot\, but you have to enter those from the dirt lot. \nTRAIL NAME:\nThis is the Los Robles Trailhead at the end of Moorpark Rd.\nThe route we will be hiking is called Los Padres Trail and Vista Loop (in the Los Robles Open Space). \nTushita Kadampa Buddhist Center is a 501(c)(3) volunteer-led\, charitable entity that follows the Kadampa Buddhist tradition founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

SUMMARY:The Bridge is Back! - MASH via the Grassland Trail
DESCRIPTION:Please review our guidelines to participate in our hikes. Restrictions apply for your safety and ours: \n\nPlease don’t show up unless you’re on the “Attending” list\nUnregistered or waitlisted will be turned away\nSorry\, no “Plus Ones” on this hike\nNo dogs allowed in the state park\n\nThe usual access to MASH (Reagan Ranch) is still too overgrown to make for a comfortable hike. This alternate route will take us into the park from the north–Mulholland entrance to the Grassland Trail. The Grassland trail runs along a ridge line that affords panoramic views of MCSP’s central valley (aka Torpin Plain) before dropping down to Crags Road (aka High Road) that will take us up and over to Century Lake. From there we will proceed across the newly installed bridge to the MASH site. We will return the same way we came in with some small detours if time allows. Total distance is approximately 6.5 miles\, with minimal elevation gain/loss (according to Gaia GPS) of about 500′. \nOur departure time is 9:00 a.m. There is plenty of parking on Mulholland but you may have to go past the trailhead to find it. Just be aware of the “No Stopping” signs and park well within the white-stripes. There are pullouts up on the left where you can do a u-turn and park on the opposite side of the road. Please be careful! Walk facing traffic and watch for speeding cars. This is known as the “Mulholland Raceway”. \nDirections:\nTake the 101 Freeway to Las Virgenes Rd. exit. Proceed SOUTH (towards ocean) to Mulholland Hwy. Turn RIGHT on Mulholland. The Grassland Trail will be on your LEFT as you cross the bridge.
