SUMMARY:ELECTRIC LIGHT PARADE / VENTURA ~~ "A leisurely sunset/evening cruise"
DESCRIPTION:Cross-posting this fun event hosted by John Queen. The Ventura Electric Light Parade \nThese rides are a “cruise” at a leisurely pace\, along the beach. A sunset ride out and a night ride on the way back! The pace is so relaxing (slow)\, you might want to bring your “analog” bike instead. \n\nBoom boxes are pulled by the leader (John Queen) and the sweep (Thomas Healy). The playlist is pretty cool and sometimes pumping music!\nThis event belongs to “The Electric Light Parade\, Ventura” and we are cross-posting this – so we’ll be guests on this ride which is always open to the public and FREE!\n\nGET LIT! \n\nDecorate your bike with lights galore. It’s not just pretty but helps with safety on the road. You can find lights on Amazon. I’m sure it’s the start of a new obsession!\nI suggest putting lights on your bike the day before\, as it can take time to get them on just right.\n\nHere is John’s event page: \n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/295050229712976/\n\nHere’s a clip of the ride in August:\nhttps://www.facebook.com/reel/759036519840676 \nTHE START / END TIME DESCRIPTION.\n📍 Meet at Beach House Tacos on the Ventura Pier by 6:45 PM \n\nBeach House Tacos\, 668 E Harbor Blvd\, Ventura\, CA 93001\n\n⏰ Parade rolls out at 7:00 PM \nMeet at 6:00 if you would like to have a pre-ride dinner at Beach House Tacos. \nMILEAGE: 20 MILES \n\nMost riders are “analog” so between 8-10mph (slo-o-o-ow)\nE-bikes are welcome!\n\nBE PREPARED\nImportant: This is a night ride. Be sure to have a working headlight and tail light on your bike. \n\nMake sure you come prepared with tools to change a flat or add air to a tire.\nBeing by the beach and evening\, dress in layers.\nWater\, of course!\nHelmet\n\nLOCATION / ADDRESS MEETUP \n\nBeach House Tacos\, 668 E Harbor Blvd\, Ventura\, CA 93001\n\nPARKING – OPTION #1\nParking structure next to the pier. https://maps.app.goo.gl/eiG3xAzsRnP17uTt6\n$2 per hour/$10 max. (Bring your ticket)\n*If the attendant has left for the evening\, you are free to go without paying. 😉 \nPARKING – OPTION #2\nFree Street Parking on E. Front St.\nhttps://maps.app.goo.gl/kvJqHN7aSMueCmA19\nFrom here you can take the pedestrian bridge over to the pier. \nDISCLAIMER & SAFETY NOTICE – Group Bike Ride\nBy participating in this ride—or any event I organize—YOU voluntarily assume all risks associated with outdoor activity\, including but not limited to injury\, illness\, equipment failure\, road hazards\, weather and possible vehicle/bike — bike/bike — accidents.\nYou agree to release me\, the organizer\, from any and all liability\, claims\, or demands arising from participation. SUMMARY:Biking - Temescal to Fishermans Village 20 or 30 miles.
DESCRIPTION:This is a 20 or 30 mile (your choice) beach ride. We’ll start at Temescal Canyon and take the Marvin Braude bike trail south to Fishermans Village\, with a small side trip to potentially see some very large boats. At this point\, anyone wanting to do only 20 miles can relax with some coffee\, ice cream or a snack. The 30 mile group will continue another 5 miles down the bike path and then start back. We’ll likely stop somewhere for a snack and a drink before retuning to our start point. \nThe route is all paved with a total gain of about 167 feet over 20 miles. So\, it’s about as flat as a trail can be. \nThe only caveat to this one is that there always seems to be headwinds coming out of the Northwest during the last few miles. \nBring Along: \n\nMake sure you bring along a spare inner tube and have tires inflated for road riding.\n\nMEETUP LOCATION (<- Click) \nPARKING FEE: There is paid parking at Temescal and PCH and you can also park on Temescal Canyon for free and ride down to the starting point. \nRESTROOMS: YES \nDURATION: 4 HOURS \nDISTANCE: 20 or 30 miles – you choose. \nROUTE: (<-click to see it) \nELEVATION GAIN: 167′ \nPACE: 11-13 mph \nTERRAIN: 20/30 miles of bike path and paved roads. \nMY CELL# IS: 818-307-6460 \nPLEASE make sure your bike is in working order before attending.

I’ve added a photo above\, showing the steepness and condition of the dirt road that we will be riding on. I’ll be taking alot of brakes on the way up to make it tolerable and to enjoy the views this ride offers. \nMake sure you have green slime or FlatOut in your inner tubes to avoid flats. \nMEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: In a parking lot on Pch at the intersection of PCH and Will Creek Roads at 10:00am. \nPARKING: Park on PCH across from Will Creek Road \nRESTROOMS: 7/10 of a mile north of our meetup location at the Willow Creek Beach Day Use .
