SUMMARY:Angel Vista - almost Full Moon potluck hike - Easy Intermediate
DESCRIPTION:3.0 miles\, 800′ gain\, easy-intermediate. \nLet’s enjoy the gorgeous sunset and “Pink Moon”\, the April full moon\, at the beautiful Angel Vista! \nThis hike is rated easy-intermediate because it is a continuous incline for 1.5 miles. This isn’t real steep\, but it is continuous\, and many beginner hikers have indicated this should be rated intermediate. \nThat said\, there is no reason a fit beginner cannot complete this hike. If needed\, just stop and rest along the way\, even if it’s every 50 steps. This is not a conditioning hike\, it is a social hike\, and you really can’t get lost. \nThe only junction is 200 yards before the top\, where we’ll turn right to complete the climb. \nAt the top\, there is a picnic table and 360 degree incredible views that are especially wonderful at night. We’ll have a snack-share social event at the top for 30-60 minutes before heading back the way we came. Please bring some food and drink to share\, and utensils of your item requires it. \nThe top has been known to sometimes be very cool and windy. Please bring something to put on in case it is that way at the top. \nInteresting Notes \nTree Tobacco \nThe Cahuilla Indians used the leaves interchangeably with other tobacco species in hunting rituals and as a poultice to treat swellings\, bruises\, cuts\, wounds\, boils\, sores\, inflamed throat\, and swollen glands. It does not contain nicotine. \nIt contains anabasine\, a similar compound\, which is highly toxic to humans and animals. It is more toxic than nicotine. Ingestion of the leaves can be fatal. It is being investigated for use as a biofuel. All parts of this plant are toxic. Used as an insecticide. Do not smoke. \nElderberry \nThe blue or purple berries are gathered and made into elderberry wine\, jam\, syrup\, and pies. The entire flower cluster can be dipped in batter and fried while petals can be eaten raw or made into a fragrant and tasty tea. Spit out the seeds. Elderflower water is also used in perfumes and sweets. \nMost agree that they do need to be cooked if you are going to eat more than just a few out of hand. That’s because they have a small amount of cyanide producing glycosides\, which are released upon digestion. Fully ripe black berries are not toxic and you can eat as many as you like. SUMMARY:Dayton Canyon - Woolsey Canyon Loopy Hike

We start at Dayton Canyon Park then loop around the Woolsey Canyon Open Space \nDayton Canyon Park is 276 acres recently given to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy by the Sterling Homes development at the bottom of the canyon. \nHike is 5.5 miles with 1\,000 feet total ascent and is rated MEDIUM. DESCRIPTION:Many of us from this group will attend this event. In the past\, the Ventura Wine Walks have been a really incredible time! \nI don’t recommend buying tickets. Instead\, buy what you want to eat and/or drink as needed at various businesses\, or bring your own (fastest and least expensive). \nFor those that still want to buy tickets\, they start at $60.50.\n<LINK to purchase tickets> \nSuggested check-in: Winchester’s Saloon \nFrom their flyer\nThe Social Event Of The Year is BACK! The Ventura Winter Wine Walk & Holiday Street Fair will once again return to beautiful Ventura on Saturday\, April 1\, 2023! \nThe Most Magical day in Ventura will kick off with the FREE Fiesta Street Fair from 12pm-8pm in Downtown Ventura from the Museum of Ventura County through the 600 block of Main Street with vendors and live entertainment. Shop artists\, crafters\, non-profit organizations\, commercial and food vendors. \nThe street fair and entertainment is FREE and open to the public starting at Noon! \nTHE WINE WALK 4pm – 8pm\nCHECK-IN TIME IS FROM 3pm-5: 45 pm SHARP! You will not be allowed to participate if you arrive after 5:45 pm\, No refunds will be issued. Wine Sampling is from 4pm-7: 00 pm. Holiday Street Fair is Noon-8pm. DESCRIPTION:PIER TO PEAK WALKABOUT IN THE DOWNTOWN VENTURA AREA! \nJOIN THE GROUP WHEN/WHEREEVER YOU CAN/WANT…\nTimes given are my best guesstimate for movement between the stated destinations\, including loitering time. This timing is delayed 30 minutes from last time and should work well\, especially for those not paying for the Wine Walk. \nSomeone in the lead group may post Messages here on where we are during the day\, but you should be able to find us following close to the published schedule. Take a look at the Map Link in this posting to see what is described below! \nHERE IS THE PROPOSED SCHEDULE: \n(1) 10:30AM: Meet at the Downtown Ventura Public (free) Parking Structure: Exit the 101 on California Street and turn north. Turn right where California Street is closed to traffic and the Parking Structure will be on your left. We’ll meet in the alleyway on the north side of the Parking Structure by California Street. Lure’s Fish House and Ventura EBikes are nearby establishments. \n(2) 10:50AM HIKE START: We’ll walk south on California Street\, jog left (east) on Harbor Blvd.\, then out onto the pier for a quick visit. \n(3) 11:40AM: Leaving the pier\, head straight north and take the Pedestrian Overpass over the 101 freeway\, then go north on S. Ash Street to Thompson Blvd. Turn left (west) on Thompson and then spend the next hour and a half at your choice(s) of Spencer Makenzie’s\, Leashless Brewing\, The Barrel House\, The Habit\, etc… \n*** PLAN TO BE BACK AT THE START BY 1:20PM!!! ***\nTiming for the next segment is somewhat critical…\nWe’ will depart for The Ventura Cross no later than 1:30PM! \n(4) 1:30PM (sharp): We’ll walk to the top of California Street\, jog right (east) on Poli Street\, then left to The Botanical Gardens Parking Lot where we’ll take the meandering dirt path up to Brakey Road. \nThere is an Admission Fee of $7 to hike up through the Botanical Gardens. If you’ve never done this\, I highly recommend it! \nALTERNATIVELY\, you can save your $7 by going left (West) on Poli from the top of California Street and taking Brakey Road up to The Ventura Cross from there. \nEither way\, at the top we’ll turn left (west) on Brakey Road and find our way to The Ventura Cross. \n(5) 2:15PM: We’ll depart The Cross\, taking Ferro Drive\, Brakey Road\, or perhaps some great dirt shortcuts that intersect Ferro Drive on the way back down to Poli Street. From Ferro Drive\, turn to the east on Poli Street then take N Palm Street down to Main Street. From Brakey Road\, take any road south to Main Street. \n(6) It will be nearly 3:00PM by now. Those who are starting (and paying for) “The Spring Wine Walk” at Winchesters can walk east on Main\, a few hundred yards away for the 3PM suggested Registration Time\, noting the actual Wine Walk starts at 4PM. SUMMARY:Late Morning Hike at Whiting Ranch - Wahoo's Parking Lot
DESCRIPTION:This hike will be about 5.4 miles total with 820 ft. of elevation gain. \nWe are starting at the parking lot at the Wahoo’s parking lot. We will take Live Oak Trail. This turns into Serrano Road which will take us to Serrano Cow Trail. At this part of the trail\, we usually see a ton of deer\, so cross your fingers! We will get on Sleepy Hollow Trail. This will take us up to Santiago Ranch Road to Cactus Hill. We will take a short break at Four Corners. Then we will come down Whiting Road. SUMMARY:NEW Lollipop: PCT- Spruce Draw - to Lake Hughes Truck Trail - PCT
DESCRIPTION:NEW Lollipop: PCT to Spruce Draw then hiking the Leona Divide Fire Rd west to the intersection of Lake Hughes Truck Trail; We will take a snack break at the Intersection then return counter-clock wise hiking east on the PCT back to our cars on San Francisquito Cyn Rd. \nDISTANCE / GAIN:\n~ 8.5 miles Round Trip / 1732′ gain. \nRATING: Moderate +\nYou need to be in good physical condition to complete these\, due to some reasonably significant gain over a short distance (mainly near the start). \nHike duration: ~ 4 hours total. \nMeet: At the trailhead at 8:15 AM for a 8:30 AM start up the trail. \nDescription: \nThis is a great local hike on a well maintained portion of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) single track\, only 25 minutes from the SCV! This hike area is popular due to its remote nature and rapid access to some great views of surrounding areas including the Mohave desert\, Lancaster\, Martindale Ridge and the distant Tehachapi Mtns. \nWe start near Green Valley Ranger station using the PCT heading North. We will cross the fire road leading up to Grass Mtn\, stop briefly if it is clear to enjoy the views of the Mojave desert and Tehachapi.\nWe will stay on the PCT and continue North. This is a beautiful shady portion of the PCT that takes us to remote Spruce Draw canyon then on to the Fire Rd returning back via the PCT. \nNote: The return leg on the PCT has some loose rocks and minor washouts from the recent rains so please wear boots with good treads. \nDirections to the trail head (34.634482\, -118.390112):\nThe trailhead is where the PCT crosses San Francisquito Canyon Road\, using these numbers in Google\, or WAZE. \nLeader’s note: No restrooms at trailhead\, plenty of bushes. When you arrive in Green Valley\, at Stop sign\, go straight through intersection on San Francisquito Cyn Rd. The Ranger station is on the left\, 2 minutes later. The trailhead\, where the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) crosses San Francisquito\, is 0.2 miles beyond that – look for PCT signs and parked cars. Park on the gravel shoulder\, on either side\, near where the PCT crosses the road – this is our “trail head”. \nHike Starting Place/ Time: (34.634482\, -118.390112) \nAdventure pass: Not required. \nBRING: Hiking poles are helpful for the hills. SUMMARY:Powerline Trail to Conejo Peak - Gentler Friendly
DESCRIPTION:Thursday’s forecast is for 50% chance of rain. If it’s raining at 7:30 a.m.\, the hike will be cancelled – please check before departing for the trailhead. \nFor our Thursday Gentler hike\, we will hike the Powerline Trail to Conejo Peak\, including a brief stop at the “teardrop” loop below the final (and skippable) climb to the peak. Great views of the Pacific\, Channel Islands\, Oxnard Plain\, Conejo Valley\, and (if clear) snow-covered Mt. Baldy and peaks east and north. \nThis area was completely burned over by the 2013 Springs Fire\, and the peak area saw a small wildfire in the last two years\, but has recovered well. The Edison road is rocky\, and has washouts from the recent rains. There is one short but steep section of the Edison road just before the teardrop loop and our rendezvous point. \nIf you climb to the peak (optional)\, this hike is 5.2 miles\, with an elevation gain of 1\,350 feet. Trekking poles are recommended\, as our descent will be fairly steep over loose gravel. \nIf you elect to skip the peak\, the hike is just over 4 miles\, with an elevation gain of 850 feet. Our rendezvous point has seen some activity recently\, and some construction material is on the ground nearby. \nWe’ll start at the Via Ricardo trailhead in Dos Vientos\, walk over the hill above the Camarillo quarry (watch for the “Unstable Ground – Gravitational Anomalies” sign)\, and then up the Powerline Trail. We’ll zig-zag up to the “teardrop”\, and split the group. Those who want to continue the climb will do so like the mountain goats we are\, and then traverse the rocky meadow at the top to the peak\, where we will gather around the (now missing) flagpole for a photo\, and inspect the set of new lead-acid batteries someone has deposited there. We’ll carefully descend through the rocky cleft back to the Powerline Trail where we’ll rejoin our compatriots\, and descend to the cars. \nDirections \nGoogle and Apple Maps direction are reliable. \nFrom the east\, exit 101 at Borchard\, and drive southwest 3.4 miles to Via Ricardo\, the first right-hand turn after the hilly pass from Newbury Park into Dos Vientos. Turn right on Via Ricardo\, and drive a half mile to the trailhead. Park on the street. \nFrom the west\, exit 101 at Wendy\, and drive south 0.9 miles to Borchard. Turn right onto Borchard\, and drive 2.2 miles to Via Ricardo\, then follow directions\, above. \nFrom Port Hueneme\, Point Mugu\, and Oxnard\, drive up Potrero Road\, which turns into Lynn at the top of the canyon. Turn left onto Via Las Brisas\, then drive north for 1.4 miles. It is nearby and may cause you to drive past the trailhead if navigating by GPS. \nRoute\nFrom the trailhead parking lot\, up for 0.7 mile on Long Canyon Trail to a bench. For those doing the easy option\, wait here about 40 minutes. They can spend that time going out and back in the area\, if they like. \nFor the regular route\, we do a 2 mile loop with 400′ of gain.\nWe turn right\, go up 300 feet\, then down Sunrise Trail 4/5 of a mile.\nLeft at the junction for 300 feet.\nLeft at the split for 200 feet up a relatively steep incline.\nLeft on Autumn Ridge\, which is a fire road.\nContinue on this extended incline for about 2000 steps\, arriving at the five-points intersection.\nTake an “easy” left\, not a hard left\, for about 500′ back to the bench were those that did the easy route will be waiting. \nWe’ll have a snack share social event for 30-60 minutes before turning right and heading back down to the trail head parking lot. \nInteresting Notes \nTurkey Mullein\nSmashed leaves can be thrown into the water to stupify fish\, causing them to float to the surface\, a practice illegal in most states. The seeds are not toxic to birds and are enjoyed especially by doves and wild turkeys. \nAncient Greeks rolled and dried the leaves\, then used them as wicks for oil lamps. It stalks were used as torches burned at funerals. Many tribes employed the use of mullein leaf tea for coughs\, colds\, and rheumatism. They considered it to be analgesic\, anti-inflammatory\, antispasmodic\, and expectorant. The astringent and demulcent properties of the leaf tea were found useful in cases of diarrhea. \nWild Oats\nThe mature seed of the plant is used as a cereal grain. All oats have edible seeds\, although they are small and hard to harvest in most species. Wildwood is one of the most versatile local parks there is\, with 27 miles of trails skittering through rocky cliffs\, cacti-filled desert environs\, volcanic rock\, riparian forest\, and a cool\, watery canyon. Wildwood’s archetypal western look served as the set for The Rifleman\, Gunsmoke\, and Wagon Train back in the day\, as well as the movie Spartacus. SUMMARY:Wildwood Central Park ~ Gentler Intermediate
DESCRIPTION:Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks is one of the most versatile local parks there is\, with 27 miles of trails skittering through rocky cliffs\, cacti-filled desert environs\, volcanic rock\, riparian forest\, and a cool\, watery canyon. Highlights of the hike include waterfalls incorporating 40’ Paradise waterfalls along with a long creek\, Indian caves\, volcanic rock cliffs\, and wildflowers throughout. Wildwood’s archetypal western look served as the set for The Rifleman\, Gunsmoke\, and Wagon Train back in the day\, as well as the movie Spartacus. Currently\, it’s very beautiful with an abundance of wildflowers and California poppies in addition to powerful waterfalls.\nIt will start at Moonridge Trail and pass through various trails with bridges\, waterfalls\, crossing streams and tree canopies over approximately 5-6 miles with about a 1000’ elevation gain/loss. \nHowever\, please note below:\nMar. 24\, 2023 – COSCA open space and trails will reopen on Saturday\, 3/25. Please note that foot bridges in Wildwood Canyon have not been reset yet as water levels are still too high. Please also be cautious if you encounter muddy patches on trails. \nDirections:\nFrom the 101 in Thousand Oaks\, turn north on Lynn Road and continue 2.6 miles to Avenida De Los Arboles\, then turn left. DESCRIPTION:Let’s sing and hike after the rains and enjoy potluck picnic 🥂♥️ \n3.5 miles\, 700′ gain\, Easy Intermediate.\nEasy Option: 2.4 miles\, 285′ gain\, Fit Beginner. \nWe’ll start by entering the Los Padres trail\, through a spooky oak covered section\, then move through until we come to a dead end. We’ll turn right\, and climb up to another junction\, where we’ll turn right onto the Los Robles trail. \nAfter 500 feet\, we’ll take a split off to the right and continue along the Vista Loop until we come to a bench at the top. Then we’ll start heading down\, and when we come to a picnic table\, we’ll stop for a social event. Let’s call it the “Giant’s Picnic Table” because of the thick pieces of wood used. \nEasy Option: In the reverse direction as the rest of the group\, go 350′ to the end of Los Padres Dr.\, left on S. Moorpark Rd. for 1000′. Enter the trail and follow it for about a mile. It will curve left and you will arrive at the social event. \nThis is a pot luck picnic. Please also bring something to eat and drink\, and a little extra to share. There may not always be a sweeper designated to be the last hiker. \nInteresting Notes \nThese are a couple plants you are likely to see on this hike: \nYucca \nWhite flowers on stalk. Stalk is often missing\, leaving only the spires from which it grows. Stalks are very strong and light\, so they make good walking sticks. Needles on end of spires. Chopped up root can be uses as shampoo or soap. Roasted root can be eaten like a potato. Illegal to remove live stick in CA. \nPronounced with short u. Dried leaves make good tinder. To eat root\, remove skin and core\, boil 15 minutes. Then fry or bake. Flowers are mildly sweet. Adam says they taste like radishes. The fruit is also edible\, but bitter if not ripe. To access fibers: Soak for a month in water\, lightly pound leaves with rock or club\, or scrape off skin. Roll between hands\, then pull and separate fibers. Weave into cordage. \nWild Cucumber \nToxic. Boil fruit in water to make spikes easy to remove. Inside is a natural luffa. Tubars (thickened part of a stem\, usually underground\, like the potato) can be crushed and thrown into water to immobilize fish. \nAlmost the entire plant is poisonous. The poppies are in bloom and this trail will put us in the middle of them. The first part of this trail ( Wildlife Trail ) is a butt kicker however its only about 1.25 mile trail so not that bad. No need to go to the gym for leg day after this trail. It’s a great incline to the top then will meet up with the Rocky Peak trail and from there will continue our hike to the top of Rocky Peak ( not to the peak this time ) and head back the way we came. DESCRIPTION:Many from this group\, plus other friends\, will attend this event at Sagebrush Cantina. \nSagebrush Cantina has changed the band from Hindsite\, to Little Alice & the Cats. I don’t know the circumstance surrounding the change but I’m going to keep the event up for those that still want to have a fun time at the Sagebrush Cantina. It may be an unhosted event. \nThe band Little Alice & The Cats are a local L.A. Top 40 cover band. This is one of the best venues I’ve experienced on LA’s west side. \nWe’ll be seated either in the outdoor area\, indoors (depending on the weather)\, or might even get a tent! SUMMARY:Bushwhacking Hellhole
DESCRIPTION:This is an exploratory trip. The plan is to hike up Hellhole Canyon and past Maidenhair Falls to the 30 foot waterfall described in Afoot and Afield. It must be pretty gnarly since the description appears to have been removed from the latest edition. There is a campsite described in the book. We may also check out Hellhole flats. On Sunday we’ll hike out to Culp Valley campground and back down the California Riding and Hiking trail.\nI don’t think parking is allowed at the trailhead so we’ll have to start in town (see location).\nNeedless to say this is a trip for people who enjoy bushwhacking and are comfortable scrambling over rocks\, trees\, vines\, etc. \nDISCLAIMER: Hike at your own risk. SUMMARY:Upper Las Virgenes - Mt. Basura - Cheeseboro Loop
DESCRIPTION:Our hike will consist of traveling along the Dean’s Cut trail connecting the underbelly of Las Virgenes and Cheseboro Canyons. The star of this hike is Mt Basura\, known for its year-round snow-less skiing. We’ll take or break here. \nNote: this hike was a VIP hike. Now my overgrown secret trail is wide open and named “Dean’s Cut.” \nCheeseboro Canyon is located in the northernmost section of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. It is from these hills that water in the canyons flow to the Pacific. The Chumash Indians lived in these canyons for thousands of years. Many trails within the canyons were original Chumash trails before they were expanded by cattle ranchers. In this large expanse of habitat\, deer\, bobcats\, coyotes and rabbits roam. \nToday\, a great diversity of plants and animals live in the canyons. Wide-spread oaks and outcrops of sedimentary rock provide excellent nesting sites for owls\, hawks and other raptors. The abundance of raptors indicates a large prey population\, especially small mammals and reptiles. In more rugged areas where cattle didn’t graze\, we can still find a variety of native plant communities\, including chaparral\, coastal sage scrub and riparian woodlands. \nA couple of unique facts regarding these canyons: \n• Cheeseboro Canyon has the largest concentrations of birds of prey nesting areas in the U.S. outside of Alaska. \n• The Valley Oak tree\, the largest oak native to the United States and possibly the world\, live in these canyons in what might be the largest southerly stand of trees left. \nHIKE IS ABOUT 8 MILES WITH ABOUT 1\,400 FT TOTAL ASCENT AND IS RATED DIFFICULT DUE TO TERRAIN. Please take note of the earlier start time. \nThis is a route that I created on my own back when I hiked this area every week. I have attached my AllTrails recording from the last time I did this hike. There will be an immediate incline to the top of the canyon. Then there will be a somewhat leveled off section with views of the canyon to the right and hills to the left. We will descend down towards the Paradise Falls area\, pass by a camp area\, and complete a few water crossings before starting our climb up Lizard Rock Trail back to the top of the canyon. After that\, it is all downhill back to our cars. \n* Note 1: There are no plans to stop at Paradise Falls\, however we can take a short break if we are making good time. This area (especially the falls) is often very crowded on weekends. * \n** Note 2: The trails near Paradise Falls are usually closed for 48 hours after heavy rainfall. The current forecast shows a storm starting on 3/20 and stopping on 3/23. I have an alternate route if the trail is closed. The distance should be about the same\, but the elevation gain will decrease. SUMMARY:Hike to the Brown Mountain Dam Waterfall - Gabrieleno Trail
DESCRIPTION:This hike is so cool! It’s a good distance with little elevation gain and it is beautiful. \nThis hike will take us to the Brown Mountain Dam Waterfall. The hike is an out and back at around 8.7 miles total with 650 ft. of elevation gain\, so not steep! Moderate (for the Gain and distance) \nKagel Mountain is a small mountain located in the San Fernando Valley above Sylmar. It is know as a great place to hang glide and we will be hiking out and back to the launch area. The trail is a a fire road out and back style and offers nice view of the surrounding Western San Gabriel Mountains. \nTake Note of the Parking locations\, it is limited and do not block the Kagel Truck Trail. \nTotal Distance: 6.2\nElevation Gain: 1280 feet\nTrail type: Fire Road Out and back \nMEET YOUR LEADER:\nAt Dillon Divide at 7.30AM for a 7:45AM Departure \nBRING: Plenty of water (3 liters recommended)\, electrolytes (e.g. Gatorade). SUMMARY:Zuma Canyon - Big Loop
DESCRIPTION:Zuma Canyon is distinguished for being one of the deepest gorges in the Santa Monica Mountains and\, unlike Topanga or Malibu Canyons\, has never suffered incursion by a major road. \nWe’ll start at Lower Zuma Canyon and take the Zuma Loop trail west to the Zuma Ridge trail. The views improve as the trail climbs\, and there are several great lookouts of Zuma Beach\, Point Dume\, and the ocean beyond. Turning north and climbing further will provide views of Trancas Canyon and Upper Zuma Canyon. \nAfter a brief rest to catch our breath and take in the views\, we turn east and descend a lush trail into Zuma Canyon proper. Here we will enjoy a snack break beside the shady Zuma Creek before hiking up the opposite ridge. We continue on this ridge for while then turn south on the Zuma Canyon Connection trail\, take this to Ocean View Trail and descend to the Bonsall Trailhead and back to our starting point. \n🌄The hike will be about 11 miles with a total ascent of about 2900 ft. 1700 of that is in the first 3 miles. Later there is a 1000 foot gain between mile 5.5 and mile 7.5. Hike is rated DIFFICULT. See the Hike Rating Guide \nBring at least 2 qt water\, snacks\, hat\, sunscreen\, camera. \n🚗Carpooling is highly recommended. There is a convenient park-and-ride by Kanan & 101 \n👉All hikers must stay on established trails. Practice “Leave No Trace” – take only pictures and leave only footprints \nDirections to trail head: \nWe will be starting the hike promptly at 9:00am. If you want to start at 9:00 am with us plan your trip so that you arrive at least 20 minutes early. \nTake 101 and exit Kanan Rd. Head south toward beaches and turn right on PCH. After about 1/4 mile turn right on Bonsall Dr. Proceed 1 mile up Bonsall until it ends and continue into dirt parking lot. \n👉Important \nTrail statistics are approximate and based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly. \nFor safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. DESCRIPTION:Come hike along the Kern River Trail (Flower Trail 🌷🌺🌼) to Democrat Dam. The hike is about 11 miles total to the Dam and back. It is moderate in difficulty\, but subtable for new hikers. \nWe will hike to the Dam and have a long lunch break. Then return hike to the trailhead. \nMore specifics coming when we get closer. \nWe will meet at the Starbucks on Hwy 178 and 184 at 0730 to arrange carpooling. \nI’m bringing my hiking dog\, Timber. Other dogs OK if leashed and kind to Timber. 🐕‍🦺 \nSometimes we have to change the dates for wildflower hikes do to best time to go. For now it’s Saturday March 18th. Be flexible.

DESCRIPTION:This is a great desert backpacking trip. One of only a few in Death Valley with water and the only loop that I know of. Mid-February should be a good chance to catch the wildflowers as well.
