This is a popular area with hikers\, trail runners and mountain bikers but with almost 3\,000 acres and several different trails it should be quite enjoyable. The function of the Organizer is only to organize the trip. Each person who signs up for an Event is responsible for his or her own safety and the safety of his or her guest. Remember this is your hike. All responsibilities are of your own once you attend. Please be aware of your limit. During outdoor activity you can encounter bodily injury\, snake bites\, sunburn\, overheating\, etc. This is not within our control and we ask that you are prepared for any of the above once you sign up for an Event. If you need to take several breaks (not counting quick breather breaks) and stops throughout a hike\, the hike maybe too much for your ability. Please check each event for miles\, elevation gain\, and difficulty rating. The higher the elevation gain means more incline and less leveled off sections. SUMMARY:Spahn Ranch - Stagecoach Rd - Corriganville - Rock House - El Camino Nuevo Loop
DESCRIPTION:Our hike will be steeped in local history and lore. We’ll begin our trek at the top of the Old Stagecoach Rd and venture west through Twilight Canyon to Corriganville. After a little site-seeing and a loop around Corriganville we’ll head up a hill to the 118 and cross under it using the wildlife corridor. From there we’ll take a seldom-used trail to the fork at the Hummingbird Trail and Rocky Peak Trails. We’ll visit the Rock House and have our snack break. \nWe’ll continue the loop by heading down Rocky Peak Rd and catch the El Camino Nuevo which will bring us to the Spahn Ranch. And then its back to The Old Stagecoach Rd \nEnjoy the history lessons below 🙂 \nThe Spahn Ranch \nThe ranch took its name from dairy farmer George Spahn\, who purchased the property in 1948. Many western-themed movies and television shows were filmed on the ranch\, including Duel in the Sun (1946) and television episodes of Bonanza\, The Lone Ranger\, and Zorro. It was also the filming location for the B-movie The Creeping Terror. \nThe Spahn Ranch is notorious for having been the primary residence of Charles Manson and his followers\, the “Manson Family\,” for much of 1968 and 1969. Spahn was 80 years old and living at the ranch when he allowed The Manson Family (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Manson#Manson_Family) to move in\, rent-free\, in exchange for labor. \nhttp://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/5/8/2/f/600_456802575.jpeg \nA wildfire destroyed all of the Spahn Movie Ranch’s film sets and residential structures on September 26\, 1970. George Spahn died on September 22\, 1974\, and is buried in Eternal Valley Memorial Park in nearby Newhall\, California. \nThe Rock House \nThe rock house is a small room under a rock overhang. It was built as part of a movie set. Across the trail from the rock house is a natural cave above the road. Rumor has it that an entire family lived there at one time. Its a perfect spot for our snack break! \nhttp://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/f/3/e/600_427724862.jpeg \nhttp://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/b/0/2/e/600_427725102.jpeg \nCorriganville \nWe’ve been here many times. From 1937 to 1965 Corriganville Movie Ranch\, owned by stuntman Ray “Crash” Corrigan\, was a working film studio and movie ranch for outdoor location shooting. In 1949\, it opened to the public on weekends and holidays. \nIn 1965 Ray Corrigan sold the property to Bob Hope. A housing subdivision called Hopetown was developed and built on a parcel near the park entrance. In the late 1960s and early 1970s part of the site was used for motorcycle racing. In 1970 the ranch was swept by fire. In 1979 another fire destroyed virtually all of the remaining structures. \nIn 1988 The land was acquired by the City of Simi Valley for use as a regional park \nHere is a video of the “Jungle Jim Rock” and “Robin Hood Lake” \nhttp://youtu.be/G-MeZdkkeFo \nHere is a video showing Fort Apache location. \nhttp://youtu.be/YK7ajTUHHrY \nThe Old Stagecoach Road \nAnother HWD regular\, The Old Stagecoach Road was built In 1859. It provided an inland route between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara that was shorter than the coastal route. The first overland stagecoach to use the pass made its run between San Francisco and Los Angeles on April 6\, 1861. We’ll be starting and ending our loop hike at the top of the Devils Slide segment and hiking along the Twilight Canyon section \nDescending into Twilight Canyon \nhttp://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/b/4/c/8/highres_19966280.jpeg \nEl Camino Nuevo \nMore appropriately known as the Chatsworth Grade Road it replaced the stagecoach route in 1895 and provided an easier and smoother route to transport goods. It was also able to accommodate motorized vehicles. We’ll be hiking along this old grade which was replaced by our familiar Old Santa Susana Pass in 1917. \nThe Santa Susana Wildlife Corridor \nThis wildlife corridor under the 118 helps provide a vital linkage between the Santa Susana Mountains and the Santa Monica Mountains. It also means us animals don’t have to dodge cars on the 118 when we go from Corriganville to the Hummingbird Trail \nhttp://photos2.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/7/3/c/600_427741852.jpeg \nHike will be about 8 miles with about 1500′ total ascent and rated difficult. See the HWD Hike Rating Guide. \nBring plenty of water and snacks \nDirections \nDepending on size of group I may change the meeting spot. For now use the Google Map shown here.

SUMMARY:Hidden Gem—Short Hike to a Secluded Mountain Lake in the Heart of Los Angeles
DESCRIPTION:Discover a slice of wilderness right in the heart of LA\, just minutes from downtown Beverly Hills. You don’t need to travel hours to get to the great outdoors—there are beautiful canyon trails right in your backyard! \nIt doesn’t get more centrally located than this…literally the geographic center of Los Angeles (according to the former USGS employee who commemorated the precise location with a hidden plaque that we will be locating and visiting)\, this moderate\, 2.5 mile round trip trail hike and lush nature walk through the chaparral\, grasslands\, and oak woodlands of the Santa Monica Mountains (and a few redwoods to boot!) is sure to inspire with its hidden gems: the Upper Franklin Canyon Reservoir—a three acre lake that was used as the shooting location of the Andy Griffith Show opening credits\, a duck and turtle pond surrounded by proudly standing pampas grass (together serving as the permanent and seasonal home for birds in the Pacific Flyway)\, and atop the ridge on Mulholland Drive at its highest elevation\, spectacular sweeping views of both Santa Monica Bay to the south and the San Bernardino Mountains to the north. \nThis hike is offered by the Sierra Club. While on this hike you will hear about the Wilderness Travel Course starting in January. This 10-week class covers the skills and gear needed to safely enjoy and explore the outdoors. You are bound to not only learn but have fun and make new friends in this class! \nAdditonal details: \n\nDifficulty: Moderate\nDistance: 2.5 miles round trip\nElevation Gain: 325 feet\nFacilities: Drinking fountain and water bottle refill station\, restrooms\nMRCA Franklin Canyon Park Trail Map\nRSVP here. SUMMARY:Hike at Caspers Wilderness Park - Bell Canyon + Oso Trail
DESCRIPTION:The hike I am planning is around 6.3 miles with about 700 ft. of elevation gain. It starts at the very end of the paved road\, the long gray strip that can be seen on the map. \nWe will begin at the Bell Canyon Trail head. We will continue onto that and then take it to the Cougar Pass trail. We will go up that and make a left on Oso Trail. Once that ends\, we will come back down Bell Canyon Trail until we hit Star Ridge Trail. We will take this to West Ridge Trail and go left. This will take us to a single track trail\, Dick Loskorn Trail. This hits Nature Loops Trail and this will take us back to the beginning. \nThis is a beautiful hike with expansive views. It is a nice and remote hike\, so you are really out there in the wilderness. \nIf you have any questions regarding the park or the trails we will be on\, please let me know! \nHere is a link to the park map: http://ocparks.com/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=8164 \nThe address is: 33401 Ortega Hwy. San Juan Capistrano\, CA 92675 \nDogs are not allowed at this park. \nParking is $5\, unless you have an OC Parks Annual Permit. If you hike a lot\, it’s totally worth it: http://ocparks.com/about/fees/pass You can buy the pass at the park.

It can be very windy and cold at the top. \nThis is a potluck hike. Please bring food and/or drinks to share. If your item requires utensils/plates/toothpicks\, etc.\, please bring them. You may wish to bring your own cup\, plate\, and utensils in case there aren’t any. \nThis hike is rated easy-intermediate because it is a continuous incline for 1.5 miles. This isn’t real steep\, but it is continuous\, and many beginner hikers have indicated this should be rated intermediate. \nThat said\, there is no reason a fit beginner cannot complete this hike. If needed\, just stop and rest along the way\, even if it’s every 50 steps. This is not a conditioning hike\, it is a social hike\, and you really can’t get lost. \nThe only junction is 200 yards before the top\, where we’ll turn right to complete the climb. \nAt the top\, there is a picnic table and 360 degree incredible views that are especially wonderful at night. We’ll have a snack-share social event at the top for 30-60 minutes before heading back the way we came. Please bring some food and drink to share\, and utensils of your item requires it. \nThe top has been known to sometimes be very cool and windy. Please bring something to put on in case it is that way at the top. \nInteresting Notes \nTree Tobacco\nThe Cahuilla Indians used the leaves interchangeably with other tobacco species in hunting rituals and as a poultice to treat swellings\, bruises\, cuts\, wounds\, boils\, sores\, inflamed throat\, and swollen glands. It does not contain nicotine. \nIt contains anabasine\, a similar compound\, which is highly toxic to humans and animals. It is more toxic than nicotine. Ingestion of the leaves can be fatal. It is being investigated for use as a biofuel. All parts of this plant are toxic. Used as an insecticide. Do not smoke. \nElderberry\nThe blue or purple berries are gathered and made into elderberry wine\, jam\, syrup\, and pies. The entire flower cluster can be dipped in batter and fried while petals can be eaten raw or made into a fragrant and tasty tea. Spit out the seeds. Elderflower water is also used in perfumes and sweets. \nMost agree that they do need to be cooked if you are going to eat more than just a few out of hand. That’s because they have a small amount of cyanide producing glycosides\, which are released upon digestion. Fully ripe black berries are not toxic and you can eat as many as you like. Boiling or baking takes care of any “toxic” issue as does drying raw berries. \nDirections:\nRosewood Trailhead\n398 Regal Oak Ct.\nThousand Oaks\, CA 91320 \nFrom the 101\nVentu Park exit\, South (toward ocean).\nRight on Lynn Road for 1000′.\nLeft on Regal Oak Ct. for 1/3 mi.\nPark on the street \nHike Distance: 3.0 miles\nGain: 800′\nDistribution: Most of the incline occurs in the first half\, which is a continuous climb. \nDifficulty: Easy Intermediate.\nShape: Out and back.\nPace: approx. 2.0 mph.\nTrail Type: Double track\, single track.\nDuration: 3.5 hours\nDogs: Yes.\nRestrooms: No\nDrinking Fountains: No.\nParking: Free along the street. \nWhat to bring\n1 liter of water for every 3 miles.\nHiking shoes/boots. SUMMARY:Rocky Peak Modified - Easy Intermediate or Fit Beginner
DESCRIPTION:4 miles\, 950′ gain\, Easy Intermediate\n2 miles\, 550′\, Fit Beginner \nThis is a modified version of the famous Rocky Peak hike. It gives those that want something easier\, a chance to climb one of the most well known trails in Simi Valley. \nIt contains beautiful sandstone formations throughout the hike and there are fantastic views of the valleys. There is really no way to get lost because there are no junctions. If one chooses\, they can turn around and return to the beginning at any point during this climb. \nThe beginning contains continuous and somewhat steep incline of about 1000 steps. It’s a fire road\, so it’s not steeper than a truck can climb. Still\, beginners will find this short climb to be exhausting. There is nothing wrong with taking short breaks and doing it slowly\, as there will be plenty of time. \nAfter 1 mile\, we’ll arrive at the Hummingbird trail and bench. This is where we’ll have a social event. Those that have had enough\, should wait for 30-45 min. unltil the others that went further\, return\, and can explore the various rock formations there: at least two caves along the edge of the trail within a few hundred feet. \nAdditional Segment\nThose that want something extra will continue for 1 more mile\, and just after the final and steep ascent to the top\, there will be a junction off to the right. They’ll turn around and return to the bench. Those proceeding with this segment can do all or part of it. \nAt the bench\, we’ll share snacks and beverages\, enjoy the views\, and engage in social interaction for about a hour before returning the way we came. \nIt can get windy and cool in the evening\, so I would recommend bringing something light to put on. \nInteresting Notes:\nHere are a couple plants you are sure to see on this hike: \nCalifornia Sagebrush\nAromatic when crushed. AKA\, common sage\, coastal sage. Sunflower family. Cowboys used to ride through it and brush up against the pine-shaped leaves\, coming home with the smell on their clothes and giving rise to the nickname “Cowboy Cologne.” Not a true sage. Can be used as a cooking spice and can be made into a tea. Tear off some needles by running your hand up the stalk and smell the aroma. \nPurple Sage\nGrey-green leaves. Aromatic when crushed. Purple flowers. Aka\, Tobacco Sage\, with mild hallucinogenic properties when smoked. Can be used as a spice or made into a tea. Tea has medicinal affects: Antiviral\, gargle for sore throats\, reduce hay fever symptoms and other drying actions. In the last summer\, fall\, and winter months\, the flowers will have turned brown and the leaves we take on a greyer color. \nDirections: \nRocky Peak Trail\nSimi Valley\, CA 93065\n34.268396\, -118.636139 \nFrom the 118\nExit Rocky Peak Rd.\nTrailhead on the north side. \nPark either at the trailhead (limited parking)\, or south of the freeway along Santa Susanna Pass Rd. \nFrom the 101 @ CA-23\nNorth CA-23 for 8.4 miles.\nEast I-118 for 14 miles.\nExit 32 Rocky Peak Rd.\nTrailhead on the north side (left). \nPark either at the trailhead (limited parking)\, or south (right) of the freeway along Santa Susanna Pass Rd. \nThe Hike\nDistance: 4 miles\, easier option 2 miles.\nDuration: 3.5 hours\nElevation Gain: 950′\, easier option 550′.\nDifficulty: Easy Intermediate / Fit Beginner\nPace: 2.0 mph\nDogs: Yes.\nRestrooms: No\nDrinking Fountains: No\nParking: Free at the trailhead (limited parking\, not recommended as you can get a ticket after sunset for parking there) or across the freeway 500′.\nTrail: Fire road.\nPurpose: Social \nWhat to Bring:\n1-2 liters of water.\nSnack and Beverage Share\nHiking shoes preferred\, but athletic shoes will be OK.\nFlashlight or headlamp. \nFAQ\nHiking Plus Page Links\nDisclaimer / Release of Liability

SUMMARY:Post-Thanksgiving hike: Wildwood Central Park ~ Gentler Intermediate
DESCRIPTION:Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks is one of the most versatile local parks there is\, with 27 miles of trails skittering through rocky cliffs\, cacti-filled desert environs\, volcanic rock\, riparian forest\, and a cool\, watery canyon. Highlights of the hike include waterfalls incorporating 40’ Paradise waterfalls along with a long creek\, Indian caves\, volcanic rock cliffs\, and wildflowers throughout. Wildwood’s archetypal western look served as the set for The Rifleman\, Gunsmoke\, and Wagon Train back in the day\, as well as the movie Spartacus. Continue for about a mile to the end and turn into the Wildwood parking lot on the left. \nFrom the 118\, travel west to the 23\, exit at Avenida De Los Arboles and turn right. Drive further than you remember having to drive to this trailhead (10 or 15 minutes). Turn left into the parking lot when the road ends. \nPlease review the guidelines (https://www.meetup.com/The-Weekday-Trailblazers/about/) to join our hikes.\nRestrictions apply for your safety and ours: \n\nDon’t show up unless you’re shown on the “Attending” list.\nPlan on KEEPING UP with the group and completing the entire hike at a moderate pace\, or please find an alternative hike that better suits your hiking level.\nNo “Plus Ones” or dogs on Weekday Trailblazer hikes.\n\nDISCLAIMER / RELEASE OF LIABILITY – PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY\nThe hike host is a volunteer and not responsible for the group. SUMMARY:Tapo Canyon Tar Pits - Easy Intermediate
DESCRIPTION:5.4 miles\, 1050′ gain\, Easy Intermediate\nThis hike is one of the most beautiful hikes in Simi Valley. There are 3 extended inclines\, about 1000 steps each\, on fire road. They are not especially steep\, but they do continue for some time\, which is why it is rated “Easy Intermediate.” There are also several small hills of 100 steps or less. \nThe extended inclines will get the blood pumping during this lollipop hike. We’ll be moving through the famous Tapo Canyon and visiting natural tar pits that bubble up from the ground. \nThe first pit is really a puddle that looks like someone spilled a couple 55-gallon drums of tar that was later contained using a spill rope. The next two are a little larger\, again\, contained by spill ropes to keep the sticky black tar from getting on the trail. You will see dinosaurs and sometimes body parts\, and I’m not kidding. \nFrom the trail head\, we’ll start on a leisurely stroll for about 0.6 miles\, followed by a steady climb for the next mile\, completing the first extended incline. \nWe’ll turn left at the junction\, climb a small hill of a couple hundred steps\, and then head down for 1.5 miles. \nWe’ll make a right turn down a smaller trail and go for about 100 yards until we reach the tar pits. After looking around for a bit\, we’ll head back\, and after 0.25 miles\, we’ll come to another junction where we will stop and share snacks and beverages. \nFor the return\, we’ll turn left and there will be a steady climb for about 3/4 of a mile to another junction. We’ll turn left again and return down for about 1.4 miles to complete the lollipop. \nEasy option (no host): 3 miles\, 300′ gain.\nPark at 5079 Westwood St\, Simi Valley\, CA 93063. Follow Cottonwood Dr/Yosemite Ave south (down) 1000′ to the trailhead. Enter and turn immediately left. After 350′\, there is a split. It doesn’t matter which you take. The right (upper) is single-track\, the left (lower) is fire road. After ½ mile\, the two trails merge into the fire road. After 600′\, you arrive at the tar pits. Keep going another 600′\, left at the dead end\, and 1/3rd mile to the social event location. SUMMARY:Easy Hike: Paramount Ranch Raceway
DESCRIPTION:Another HWD Original!\nMany of you know Paramount Ranch for its Western Town filming set (destroyed by the Woolsey fire). But did you know that during the 1950s it was home to a world-class race track? The broken sections of asphalt that twist through the eucalyptus trees and around the old Western Town was in fact an official racecourse with international prestige! \nClick here for a cool video \nTrack History \nThe 2-mile Paramount Ranch Raceway opened for its first event over the weekend of August 18th and 19th 1956. Among the notable names competing were Dan Gurney\, Lance Reventlow\, Ritchie Ginther and Bob Bondurant\, who made up a more than 350-strong entry list of drivers across a variety of categories. \nIt was a narrow and twisting course with ups and downs. Due to many accidents and tragedies the track closed 7 races and 18 months later. After closure it was used for the next several years by Paramount for filming movies. \nMovie History \nThe track was used for filming many movies\, including 1957’s “Devil’s Hairpin”\, “Roadracers” (1959) and “How to Stuff a Wild Bikini” (1965). Perhaps the most famous depiction of the circuit on the big screen came during 1965’s ‘Spin Out‘\, notable for starring Elvis Presley. Cameos also followed with 1966’s ‘Munster Go Home‘\, ‘The Love Bug‘ (1968) and its sequel\, ‘Herbie Rides Again’\, in 1974. \nHike will be 3-4 miles with 200′-400′ total ascent and rated EASY. See the HWD Hike Rating Guide \n–> Depending on unanimous decision of group I can extend this hike as far and as high as your legs will take you. \nDIRECTIONS \n2903 Cornell Road\, Agoura Hills\, CA\, 91301 \nGPS Coordinates: N 34.1181 W -118.7525 \nFrom the Ventura Freeway (US 101) in Agoura take the Kanan Road offramp and turn south. Follow Kanan\, turn left on Cornell Way\, bear right onto Cornell Road for about 3 blocks. Turn right at the main gate to Paramount Ranch. \nFrom PCH turn north onto Kanan for 6 miles then turn right onto Mulholland. After 5.5 miles turn left onto Cornell Rd. Turn left into Paramount Ranch \nWHEN YOU ENTER PARAMOUNT RANCH GO TO THE END OF THE ENTRANCE ROAD (YOU’LL SEE IT AS YOU TURN IN) AND TURN LEFT (you’ll be driving on racetrack straightaway) . PARK NEAR THE END. \nIMPORTANT: \nThe Organizers and members in this group are not professional leaders\, guides\, or mountaineers. The function of the member or organizer is only to organize the trip. Each person who shows up for a trip/meetup (and their guest or guests) is responsible for his or her own safety. SUMMARY:Palo Comado to the Edge of China Flat - Gentler Friendly but not Beginner
DESCRIPTION:Palo Comado (“Burnt Stick” in Spanish) tells you a lot about the environs – frequently burned over by wildfires\, this was directly in the line of the Woolsey Fire but much of the vegetation has re-grown. \nThis is one of many routes from the Conejo Valley to China Flat. SUMMARY:Happy Camp - Suitable for beginners
DESCRIPTION:Beginner\, 5 miles\, 500′ gain\nThis hike is entirely fire-road and is almost completely flat. Some of this trail is sandy\, so walking it at times can be more difficult. There are a lot of different interesting plants on this hike. \nFrom the trail head\, we walk along the fire road next to the golf course for 1.3 miles until making a left at a junction. \nPlease be advised that from that point on\, there is a no dogs allowed sign. At some point as we continue\, the ground will become very sandy. \nThe landscape will change from dry to green\, eventually coming to a spot where sometimes you can hear the water running along the left down in a canyon. We’ll stop there to share some [snacks\, beverages](https://www.dropbox.com/s/zlfjtt05uu2bhxn/Snack and Beverage Share.pdf?dl=0)\, and have a social event for 30-60 minutes\, before turning around to head back the way we came. Please bring snacks and/or beverages to share. \nInteresting Notes:\nYou will see several plants of note\, and if you are interested\, you can look them up before the hike. I’ll mention several\, and then fully describe a couple more: \nRussian Thistle\, Black Walnut\, Caterpillar Phacelia\, White Sage\, Yucca\, Bladder Pod. \nJimson Weed\nThe plant got its name from Jamestown\, because in 1676\, Jamestown\, VA soldiers ate this plant in their salad and became psychotic for 11 days. \nThe leaves and seeds are used to make medicine. Despite serious safety concerns\, jimson weed is used to treat asthma\, cough\, flu (influenza)\, swine flu\, and nerve diseases. Some people use it as a recreational drug to cause hallucinations and a heightened sense of well-being (euphoria). All parts of Datura plants contain dangerous levels of the tropane alkaloids atropine\, hyoscyamine\, and scopolamine\, which are classified as deliriants\, or anticholinergics. \nThe risk of fatal overdose is high among uninformed users\, and many hospitalizations occur amongst recreational users who ingest the plant for its psychoactive effects. As much as a 5:1 variation can be found between plants. It contains chemicals such as atropine\, hyoscyamine\, and scopolamine. \nThese chemicals interfere with one of the chemical messengers (acetylcholine) in the brain and nerves. Ingesting only a few small seeds can result in serious poisoning and may be life-threatening. Ingesting even small amounts of the plant or seeds can result in confusion\, frightening hallucinations\, the inability to urinate or sweat\, overheating\, and a rapid heart rate. \nDepending on the amount ingested\, these troubling symptoms can last hours to many days\, and in some cases can lead to death. Touching he plant can cause dermatitis. \nCastor Bean\nOne of the most poisonous plants in the world. \nThe seeds contain ricin\, one of the most poisonous naturally occurring substances known. Perhaps just one milligram of ricin can kill an adult. Walter White made a poison cigarette by putting in ricin\, in the series Breaking Bad. \nThe symptoms of human poisoning begin within a few hours of ingestion. If death has not occurred in 3-5 days\, the victim usually recovers. The seed causes skin irritation at the contact point. It is said that just one seed can kill a child. \nIn 1978\, ricin was used to assassinate Georgi Markov in 1978\, a Bulgarian journalist who spoke out against the Bulgarian government. He was stabbed with the point of an umbrella while waiting at a bus stop near Waterloo Station in London. They found a perforated metallic pellet embedded in his leg that had presumably contained the ricin toxin. \nCastor beans are pressed to extract castor oil which is used for medicinal purposes. Ricin does not partition into the oil because it is water-soluble\, therefore\, castor oil does not contain ricin\, provided that no cross-contamination occurred during its production. \nUsed in bone marrow transplants\, cancer therapies\, AIDS treatment\, and can selectively destroy neurons by injecting ricin into nerves. \nDirections:\nHappy Camp\n15100 Happy Camp Canyon Rd.\nMoorpark\, CA 93021\n34.311460\,-118.866110 \nFrom the 118 and from the 101:\nHead to towards the intersection of I-118 and CA-23.\nExit 19A Princeton Ave.\, turn right (north) if coming from the east\, left coming from CA-23.\nPrinceton Ave. north for 0.2 miles.\nLeft on Campus Park Dr. for 0.4 miles and continue on Happy Camp Canyon Rd. for 0.7 miles.\nFollow signs to Rustic Canyon golf course.\nPark on the right in gravel lot\, just before golf course paved lot. Do not park in the paved golf course lot\, it has a gate that closes at sunset. \nThe Hike\nDistance: 5 miles\, 3 1/2 hours\nElevation Gain: 500′\nDifficulty: Fit Beginner\nPace: 2.0 mph\nDogs: No. A sign half-way says no dogs. I’m not the dog enforcer\, so bring a dog at your own risk.\nRestrooms/Drinking Fountains: Yes\, inside the golf course clubhouse at the start\, but likely closed after dark.\nParking: Free in the gravel lot next to the paved golf course lot.\nTrail: Fire Road and some with powdered sand. \nWhat to Bring:\n1-2 liters of water.\nSnacks and/or beverages to share\nHiking shoes preferred\, but athletic shoes will be OK. Go to Fast Times’ website to score up to 4 FREE TICKETS to the show\, or if you know someone at the Canyon Club to get you on the list\, you can do that\, too. Tix are normally $24 from axs.com or the Cayon Club Box office\, but the link below will take you to the free list: \n***FREE TICKET LINK: Fast Times Band — Canyon Guest List\n** More info and list at www.fasttimesband.com \nDoors Open at 6PM\n7PM-7:45 Violet Saturn\n8PM-8:45 Drama Dolls\n9PM-11 Fast Times \nFast Times always brings good times\, playing a great mix of 80’s pop\, electronic\, rock\, metal\, and all those MTV hits you remember.
