DESCRIPTION:4.2 miles\, 700′ gain\, easy-intermediate. \nEasier option: 2.7 miles\, 500′ gain\, fit beginner. \nThis is a pot-luck hike. We’ll be stopping at the 3/4 point by a picnic table\, so please bring food and drink to share\, and any utensils your items might require. You may wish to bring your own cup\, plate\, and utensils in case there aren’t any. \nWe have had occasions where there were no utensils\, so it might be wise to at least bring your own. \nWe start at Conejo Canyons Trail Head\, 2010 Conejo Center Dr\, Thousand Oaks\, CA 91320. \nWe’ll hike downhill from the trailhead for 0.6 miles. \nFor the regular route\, we’ll turn left and continue uphill for 0.6 miles on the Western Plateau trail and follow the fire road around to the right at the top\, then mostly flat for about a mile\, then dropping for another 1/2 mile. \nAt the bottom and when coming to a junction\, turn right onto Hawk Canyon. Our picnic spot is 1/4 mile up Hawk Canyon at the table under the trees. \nFor the easier option\, instead of turning left at the first junction\, we’ll turn right. After 0.6 miles\, the picnic area will be on the left. \nAfter the potluck\, we’ll continue up Hawk Canyon in our clockwise loop for 0.6 mile where the trail ends back at the Western Plateau trail. Take a left up the hill back to Conejo Center Dr. For those that came on the easier option\, it’s a return the way you came. \n** If you plan on leaving before the group\, please familiarize yourself with the planned route\, which can be accessed by clicking on the below link: \nThe Hike\nDistance: 4.2 miles / 2.7 miles\nGain: 700′ / 500′\nDistribution: Well distributed.\nDifficulty: Easy Intermediate / Fit Beginner\nShape: Lollipop.\nPace: 2.0 mph.\nTrail Type: Fire road and single track.\nTrail Variations: Rolling stroll and ramp.\nDuration: 3.5 hours\nDogs: Yes.\nRestrooms: No\nDrinking Fountains: No.\nParking: Free along street. \nWhat to bring\n1 liter of water for every 3 miles.\nSnacks and/or beverages to share\nHiking shoes preferred\, but athletic shoes will be OK.\nFlashlight or headlamp.\nSunscreen and/or hat as needed.\nInsect repellent (optional). \nHosting\nRoute: The host knows the route. SUMMARY:Encinal Canyon to Top of the World ~ 8 mile Intermediate Hike
DESCRIPTION:Encinal Canyon is named for encina\, the Spanish word for the holm oak\, a lovely Mediterranean tree with holly characteristics. Holm oaks are one of the main trees used to establish truffle orchards\, but we’ll be nosing around the canyon strictly for its beauty. \nThe trail from Encinal is a smooth\, firm\, and well-traveled single track\, swooping and winding with a constant\, gentle slope. We’ll have fabulous views of the coast for much of the way. Close to the top\, we’ll take on the slightly steeper Etz Meloy Motorway\, then the last tenth of a mile is up a seldom-used trail to the isolated peak\, where we’ll both lose and catch our breath with a 360-degree view. \nFrom our perch above it all we’ll see Sandstone Peak to the west\, Simi Valley to the north\, Ladyface and Mt Baldy to the east and the Channel Islands to the south and west. \nThis is an 8 mile out and back hike\, with about 1200′ of elevation gain. \nNOTE: Please review the guidelines to participate in our hikes. Here are some highlights and a link to the guidelines:\nhttps://www.meetup.com/The-Weekday-Trailblazers/about/\nRestrictions apply for your safety and ours:\nDon’t show up unless you’re on the “Attending” list\nNo “Plus Ones” on this hike\nPlan on completing the entire hike at an intermediate pace or please find an alternative hike that better suits your hiking level.\nNo dogs allowed. \nDirections: \nThe parking area is off the north side of Encinal Canyon Road\, almost directly across the street from the Camp 13 fire station & Rattle Snake Road. Park in the large dirt lot\, which is free. \nFrom the 101 Freeway\, turn south on Kanan Rd. Continue 6.2 miles\, then turn right onto Mulholland Hwy. After 0.9 miles\, veer left onto Encinal Canyon Rd. Drive 2.4 miles to the parking area\, on the right. \nFrom the Pacific Coast Highway – From the PCH\, turn up Encinal Canyon Road. Drive 5 miles\, then turn right onto Encinal Cyn Rd. Continue 1.1 miles to the parking area\, on the left. \nDISCLAIMER / RELEASE OF LIABILITY \nThe hike host is a volunteer and not responsible for the group. SUMMARY:Angel Vista - Easy Intermediate
DESCRIPTION:3.0 miles\, 800′ gain\, easy-intermediate.\nThis hike is rated easy-intermediate because it is a continuous incline for 1.5 miles. This isn’t real steep\, but it is continuous\, and many beginner hikers have indicated this should be rated intermediate. \nThat said\, there is no reason a fit beginner cannot complete this hike. If needed\, just stop and rest along the way\, even if it’s every 50 steps. This is not a conditioning hike\, it is a social hike\, and you really can’t get lost. \nThe only junction is 200 yards before the top\, where we’ll turn right to complete the climb. \nAt the top\, there is a picnic table and 360 degree incredible views that are especially wonderful at night. We’ll have a snack-share social event at the top for 30-60 minutes before heading back the way we came. Please bring some food and drink to share\, and utensils of your item requires it. \nThe top has been known to sometimes be very cool and windy. Please bring something to put on in case it is that way at the top. \nInteresting Notes \nTree Tobacco \nThe Cahuilla Indians used the leaves interchangeably with other tobacco species in hunting rituals and as a poultice to treat swellings\, bruises\, cuts\, wounds\, boils\, sores\, inflamed throat\, and swollen glands. It does not contain nicotine. \nIt contains anabasine\, a similar compound\, which is highly toxic to humans and animals. It is more toxic than nicotine. Ingestion of the leaves can be fatal. It is being investigated for use as a biofuel. All parts of this plant are toxic. Used as an insecticide. Do not smoke. \nElderberry \nThe blue or purple berries are gathered and made into elderberry wine\, jam\, syrup\, and pies. The entire flower cluster can be dipped in batter and fried while petals can be eaten raw or made into a fragrant and tasty tea. Spit out the seeds. Elderflower water is also used in perfumes and sweets. \nMost agree that they do need to be cooked if you are going to eat more than just a few out of hand. That’s because they have a small amount of cyanide producing glycosides\, which are released upon digestion. Fully ripe black berries are not toxic and you can eat as many as you like. Boiling or baking takes care of any “toxic” issue as does drying raw berries. \nDirections:\nRosewood Trailhead\n398 Regal Oak Ct.\nThousand Oaks\, CA 91320 \nFrom the 101\nVentu Park exit\, South (toward ocean).\nRight on Lynn Road for 1000′.\nLeft on Regal Oak Ct. for 1/3 mi.\nPark on the street \nHike Distance: 3.0 miles\nGain: 800′\nDistribution: Most of the incline occurs in the first half\, which is a continuous climb.\nDifficulty: Easy Intermediate.\nShape: Out and back.\nPace: approx. 2.0 mph.\nTrail Type: Double track\, single track.\nDuration: 3.5 hours\nDogs: Yes.\nRestrooms: No\nDrinking Fountains: No.\nParking: Free along the street. \nWhat to bring\n1 liter of water for every 3 miles.\nHiking shoes/boots. SUMMARY:Upper Sycamore Canyon with Creek Crossings - A Gentler Hike
DESCRIPTION:There may be more than one hike posted for Thursday – please only sign up for one! And if you can’t make it\, please cancel as early as possible so waitlisted folks can get notice and attend. \nAs of New Year’s Day\, there were about a half-dozen creek crossings on this route\, all of which had rocks spanning the creek. However\, my feet stayed dry throughout the hike. Poison oak (ever present) is mostly off the side of the trail. The Toyon berries are still bright red on the trees\, and the Ceanothus is just starting to bud. The sycamore leaves are beautiful in the morning sun. \nThis hike will start at the Rancho Sierra Vista parking lot\, proceed down the asphalt to the bridge\, then up the Upper Sycamore Canyon trail (including a half dozen creek crossings to its junction with Danielson Fire Road. Optionally\, we’ll make our way towards the waterfall (one more creek crossing). Once back to the big oaks\, we’ll proceed up the dirt fire road\, crossing the meadow diagonally to Satwiwa\, up and over the hill and back to the cars. \nTotal distance is 5 miles or so with roughly 700 or so feet gain. \nBoots on at 8:45\, ready to hike for a 9:00 a.m. departure! \nPlease do not leave anything of value in your car\, at this or any other trailhead. \nWe’ll select between lunch at 3 Amigos or Country Harvest while on the hike 🙂 \nDirections: Google/Apple will misdirect you. Read and follow these\, if you haven’t been here before. \n\nFrom the east\, exit 101 at Lynn\, and drive southwest 5.5 miles to the turn-off just beyond the “National / State Parks” sign. Turn left\, under the gateway\, and drive to the end\, near the restrooms.\nFrom the west (Camarillo and beyond)\, exit 101 at Wendy\, drive south to Lynn Road. Turn right onto Lynn\, drive southwest (crossing Reino) to the turn-off just beyond the “National / State Parks” sign. Turn left\, under the gateway\, and drive to the end\, near the restrooms.\nFrom Port Hueneme\, Point Mugu\, and Oxnard\, drive up Potrero Road\, which turns into Lynn at the top of the canyon. Turn right into the Rancho Sierra Vista parking area once past the horse corrals.\n\nDISCLAIMER / RELEASE OF LIABILITY\nIMPORTANT\, PLEASE READ BELOW IN ITS ENTIRETY: \nThe hike host is a volunteer and not responsible for the group. SUMMARY:Los Padres - Easy Intermediate
DESCRIPTION:3.5 miles\, 600′ gain\, Easy Intermediate\nEasy Option: 2.4 miles\, 285′ gain\, Fit Beginner \nWe enter the Los Padres trail through a spooky oak covered section\, then move through until we come to a dead end. We’ll turn right\, and continue climbing up. We’ll come to another junction\, where we’ll turn right onto the Los Robles trail. \nAfter 500 feet\, we’ll come to a split off to the right. We’ll take this split and continue along the Vista Loop until we come to a bench. Then we’ll start heading down\, and when we come to the “Giants Picnic Table”\, which I call that because its parts are super thick. \nWe’ll stop for a social event and share snacks and drinks for 30-60 minutes\, before continuing down and around for our return. \nEasy Option: In the reverse direction as the rest of the group\, go 350′ to the end of Los Padres Dr.\, left on S. Moorpark Rd. for 1000′. Enter the trail and follow it for about a mile. It will curve left and you will arrive at the social event. \nHike Distance: 3.5 miles\, easy option 2.4 miles.\nGain: 600′\, each option 285′.\nDistribution: Most of the incline well distributed in the first half.\nDifficulty: Easy Intermediate.\nShape: Loop.\nPace: approx. 2.0 mph.\nTrail Type: Fire Road\, Single-Track\, and Double-Track.\nTrail Variations:\nSeveral extended inclines of 1000 steps.\nSeveral steep sections of 300 steps\, but no hands required.\nDuration: 3.5 hours\nDogs: Yes.\nRestrooms: No\nDrinking Fountains: No.\nParking: Free along street. \nWhat to bring: 1 liter of water for every 3 miles.\nHiking shoes/boots\nFlashlight or headlamp.\nSunscreen and/or hat as needed.\nSnacks and/or beverages to share \nHosting \nRoute: The host knows the route. A pic of the route has been posted as a link on this line. \nNavigation: Host memory\, enhanced by GPS navigation as needed. \nHike type: Social.\nWe won’t be hiking at a fast pace because this is a social hike\, not a conditioning hike. There is nothing wrong with stopping\, even if it means every 50 steps. See “How hard is this hike” in the discussion section (LINK). \nStops:\nThe host may designate stopping points to let others catch up. This hike will include an extended stop for a snack and beverage share at the half way point. We will stop at junctions to make sure everybody makes any turns or chooses the correct direction at splits\, else something will be used to mark the direction\, usually a large arrow made of baking soda or sticks. There may not always be a sweeper designated to be the last hiker. \nInteresting Notes\nThese are a couple plants you are likely to see on this hike: \nYucca\nWhite flowers on stalk. Stalk is often missing\, leaving only the spires from which it grows. Stalks are very strong and light\, so they make good walking sticks. Needles on end of spires. Chopped up root can be uses as shampoo or soap. Roasted root can be eaten like a potato. Illegal to remove live stick in CA. \nPronounced with short u. Dried leaves make good tinder. To eat root\, remove skin and core\, boil 15 minutes. Then fry or bake. Flowers are mildly sweet. Adam says they taste like radishes. The fruit is also edible\, but bitter if not ripe. To access fibers: Soak for a month in water\, or\, lightly pound leaves with rock or club\, or\, scrape off skin. Roll between hands\, then pull and separate fibers. Weave into cordage. \nWild Cucumber\nToxic. Boil fruit in water to make spikes easy to remove. Inside is a natural luffa. Tubars (thickened part of a stem\, usually underground\, like the potato) can be crushed and thrown into water to immobilize fish. \nAlmost the entire plant is poisonous. Although wild cucumbers are related to the familiar\, domestic vegetable\, the prickly “cucumbers” consist not of fleshy fruit\, but of two seed chambers containing lacy netting. \nDirections\nLos Padres Trailhead\n15 Los Padres Drive\nThousand Oaks\, CA\, 91361 \nFrom I-101\nWest of CA-23\, I-101\, exit S. Moorpark Rd.\nSouth on Moorpark Rd. north for 1000 ft.\nLeft on Los Padres Dr.\nAfter 200 ft\, trailhead on the right.\nPark on the street. \nFAQ\nHiking Plus Page Links\nDisclaimer / Release of Liability

SUMMARY:Agua Chignon and the Sinks Exploration ***Must register on LetsGoOutside.org
DESCRIPTION:**Must also register here: https://letsgooutside.org/activities/2024/01/13/agua-chinon-and-the-sinks-exploration-18/ \nWill update with more specific trails and distance soon. \nStart your weekend off by exploring the Agua Chinon wash and the Sinks through this self-guided opportunity. Designated trails will be open for self-guided trail use in OC Parks’ Irvine Ranch Open Space. Trail routes vary in distance and level of difficulty with choices ranging from easy one-hour walks to a strenuous 9.5-mile trek. Whether traveling by feet or on two wheels\, this exploration day is a treasure waiting to be discovered by hikers and mountain bikers alike. Visitors to the Open Space during this activity are able to hike or bike to the West and East Sinks viewing areas. \nPlease review our Trail Tips page and FAQ page to prepare for this challenging hiking and biking opportunity. \nAll participants are required to check-in and complete their registration at the Portola Staging Area prior to accessing the trail system. Gates will open no earlier than 8 a.m. The West Sinks route is 6 miles round trip with a challenging hill climb while a visit to the east viewing deck is a strenuous 8 miles round trip and may take the majority of the designated activity time. Registration for this event is limited to 70 participants. Be sure to cancel your registration if you cannot attend\, so that other participants can register. No walk-up registrations will be allowed. \nThis is a natural area characterized by certain inherent dangers including: mountain lions\, rattlesnakes\, poisonous plants and insects\, weather extremes\, loose rocks and rugged terrain. The Irvine Ranch Open Space contains rare and sensitive habitat and is under strict protection. Participants are required to stay on designated trails at all times. OC Parks Rangers may issue citations for visitors found off-trail. For your safety\, please stay on the designated paths during your visit to Agua Chinon. To learn more about the staging areas and activity locations\, please visit our Staging Areas Playlist page. \nOther Important Notes: \nOC Parks Rangers require all trails to be cleared for closure by 1:00pm. \nNo new trail users will be permitted onto the trails beginning one hour prior to closing. \nDogs are prohibited on the Irvine Ranch Open Space. SUMMARY:Falls Creek Lollipop & HWD Ranch West
DESCRIPTION:I’ll be modifying a difficult hike and making it a medium one this time. We begin in the prestigious gated neighborhood of the Indian Springs Estates in Chatsworth. From there we head north and enter Indian Springs Open Space\, set within the backdrop of surrounding open and untouched mountains\, ravines and hillsides. \nAfter a little more trekking we will find ourselves in Rocky Peak Park. This extraordinary property forms the most critical wildlife habitat linkage between the Simi Hills and the Santa Susana Mountains. Spectacular sandstone boulders\, outcroppings\, oak savannahs\, and perennial water sources provide a diverse habitat for birds\, mammals\, and reptiles. \nWe’ll be taking our snack break atop a hill at the HWD Ranch West surrounded by old farm\, ranching equipment (see featured photo) and commanding views. \nHISTORICAL NOTES\nDuring our hike we’ll be passing by land that was once the homesteaded property (Fern Ann Falls) of the first American family to settle in the San Fernando Valley: Neils and Ann Johnson. They moved to the property in 1874 and homestead papers were filed in 1899. \nAlmost 20 years ago while exploring the homesteaded area I came across some of the “trails” we’ll be using. Back then they were just overgrown paths left over by human activity during a bygone era. My old “secret trails” are now established LA County trails; hikers\, bikers and equestrians are permitted through the estate gates. \nHike is about 6.5 miles with 1\,600 feet total ascent and rated MEDIUM+. See the HWD Hike Rating Guide \nDIRECTIONS\nFrom the Santa Susana Pass Rd — between Rocky Peak Rd and Topanga Canyon Blvd — turn north on Iverson Rd. Proceed under the 118 Fwy and park on street outside of gates. We meet just outside the gates. \nIMPORTANT\nTrail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. \nBring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.\nTrail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly. \nThe Organizers and members of Hiking With Dean are not professional leaders\, guides\, or mountaineers. The function of the member or organizer is only to organize the trip. Each person who shows up for a trip/meetup (and their guest or guests) is responsible for his or her own safety. By attending a hike\, or any other event organized by this group\, you are acknowledging that you and any guests that you bring are aware of the risks\, dangers and hazards associated with the activity and freely accept and fully assume all such risks\, dangers and hazards\, and further agree to release and discharge the Organizers\, Members of the Hiking With Dean Meetup Group from and against any and all liability arising from your participation in the group activities per our ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND LIABILITY WAIVER and Section 6.2 of the Meetup.com Terms of Service.

SUMMARY:Iron Horse Bridge - Santa Clara River Loop
DESCRIPTION:A Sunday morning bike ride (most on bike paths) that is 26 miles long with 600 feet total ascent. Highlights along the way: \n\nThe star of this tour is a 1898 railroad trestle bridge. The bridge was placed in its current location after the St. Francis Dam disaster in 1928. The railroad bridge that originally spanned the Santa Clara River was destroyed during the disaster. Among the many services that were disrupted after the flood was the Southern Pacific Railroad line\, so railroad officials decided to come up with a quick solution that remains in place to this day — relocating a bridge from the Colorado River and moving it to what is now Santa Clarita.\nA herd of American Bison\nSanta Clara River\nSan Francisquito Creek\n\nOptional: After the ride we’ll explore Hart Park \nDirections\nEnter Hart Park via the main entrance and park into the first lot by W S Har Hall building

SUMMARY:Reseda to Eagle Rock via the Garapito Trail
DESCRIPTION:We will head up and down in this jaunt to Eagle Rock\, following the Garapito trail into the canyon and then up the hill to our destination. We will return via the fireroad. Or we’ll do the whole thing in reverse. It willl be a game time decision. I have not personally done this trail since last year’s rains that took a toll on the trail\, but I have heard that it is repaired and in good shape! Yay! \nDistance < 8 miles\nElevation gain: ~1400 ft \nEagle Rock\, located in Topanga SP\, is the primary attraction of this hike. It juts impressively out from the hillside\, with dramatic shear cliffs on three sides. There is easy access to the top of Eagle Rock from the trail. Usually accessed via Trippet Ranch\, this hike starts from the Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park at the south end of Reseda Blvd. This will be a combination of trails and fire roads. We start off with fire road and then take the Garapito Trail to Eagle Rock where we’ll take a short break before returning on fire roads to our cars on Reseda. The Garapito Trail is where we get our bonus ab workout due to the necessity to avoid so many low branches (right\, Mike?). As usual bring ample supplies of liquid refreshment\, snacks\, sunscreen and dress accordingly depending on the weather conditions. \nDirections: Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park is located on the southern end of Reseda Blvd. in Tarzana\, 3.2 miles south of the Ventura Fwy. The park and parking are at the end of Reseda Blvd. ***NOTE::: There is a yellow or white line across the road to mark where the fee parking starts and an “Iron Ranger” to pay the fee. Park before the line for free. Be aware as there is a “photo-enforced” stop sign in the area. \nPark Map (http://www.lamountains.com/maps/marvinBraude.pdf) \nDISCLAIMER / RELEASE OF LIABILITY\nIMPORTANT\, PLEASE READ BELOW IN ITS ENTIRETY:\nThe hike host is a volunteer and not responsible for the group. Safety should be a priority for everyone in the group. Please treat this meet-up as hiking with a group of friends. If you become fatigued and unable to continue the hike\, it is expected you will advise the hike host of this and return to our starting point on your own. If you are able to proceed\, it is expected that you will maintain line of sight with other members of the group at all times and help to promote the group’s safety and fitness goals.\nOutdoor sports and other events we plan can be inherently dangerous and accidents may happen. By participating in any posted event\, you are taking responsibility for your own safety and well-being. The Weekday Trailblazers Meetup Group and its organizers are not trained leaders and we do not confirm the qualifications of any of its members to lead or participate in trips. All participants take full responsibility for their own actions.\nIf you choose to sign up for this or any Weekday Trailblazers Meetup event\, you are releasing the Weekday Trailblazers Meetup Group and its organizers from all liability in case of possible injuries. Your personal safety depends on your own judgment and experience.\nPlease review our guidelines. Restrictions apply for your safety and ours: \n\nDon’t show up unless you’re on the “Attending” list\nNo “Plus Ones” on this hike; please have your friends join The Weekday Trailblazers\, and register for the event.\nAll participants must be 18 or older\, or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.\nPlan on sticking with the group\, and completing the entire hike at a reasonable pace or please find an alternative hike that better suits your hiking level.\nDogs are not permitted in the State Park backcountry\nBring ample hydration.

SUMMARY:Potrero – All paved – Easy Intermediate
DESCRIPTION:5.75 miles\, 700′ gain. Easy Intermediate.\nDo not park on Potrero else risk getting a ticket. You need a permit to park on this street. \nThis hike is a great trail when it might be muddy because almost the entire hike is on an asphalt path through a huge state park (> 20 sq miles). It’s also a good option when it’s very hot out\, because this is one of the cooler areas where we hike\, and most of the incline is on the return\, later in the hike. \nSince the elevation gain is low and the route is paved\, we’ll be likely hiking a little faster than typical. It’s a little more than 8 miles to go all the way to the ocean. \nAt the 2.9 mile mark\, we’ll find a picnic table 350′ off to the right side\, where we’ll stop and have a social event for about an hours before heading back the way we came. There are no turns on this hike\, so as long as you stay on the asphalt path\, you really can’t get lost. \nDirections\n4161 Potrero Rd.\nThousand Oaks\, CA 91320\n34.156636\, -118.962989 \nNote that when turning left at the dead end to continue on Potrero Rd.\, the sign at the intersection will say S. Reina. It is that name if you go right. But we go to the left\, so it is a continuation of Potrero Rd. \nFrom the west: 101-S\, Exit 48B Wendy Dr.\, turn right.\nFrom the east: 101-N\, Exit 47C Wendy Dr.\, turn left.\nSouth on Wendy Dr. until it deadends at Potrero Rd.\nRight on Potrero Rd. for 0.5 miles.\nLeft to stay on Potrero Rd. (it is Reino if you turn right) for 0.5 miles.\nTurn right on Pinehill Ave. and park.\nWalk 800 feet back to the intersection of Potrero Rd. and Big Sycamore Canyon Rd. \nDo not park on Potrero Rd. \nThe Hike\nDistance: 5.9 miles.\nGain: 700′\, mostly on the return.\nDistribution: The return section has an extended incline.\nDifficulty: Easy Intermediate.\nShape: Out and Back.\nPace: 2.0 mph.\nTrail Type: Asphalt path.\nTrail Variations: Rolling stroll with an extended incline.\nDuration: 3.5 hours.\nDogs: Yes.\nRestrooms: Yes\, along the way at the start.\nDrinking Fountains: Yes\, along the way at the start.\nParking: Free along Pinehill Ave. No parking on Potrero\, it is for residents with a permit only. \nWhat to bring: 1 liter of water for every 3 miles.\nSnacks and/or beverages to share\nHiking shoes preferred\, but athletic shoes will be OK.\nFlashlight or headlamp. \nHosting\nRoute: The host knows the route. A pic of the route has been posted as part of this description. \nNavigation: Host memory\, enhanced by GPS navigation as needed. \nHike type: Social.\nWe won’t be hiking at a fast pace because this is a social hike\, not a conditioning hike. There is nothing wrong with stopping\, even if it means every 50 steps. \nThis hike is out-and-back on an asphalt path\, While it will be acceptable to split from the group moving faster\, slower\, or otherwise at your own pace\, keep in mind if you get ahead\, you must know where we are stopping. \nFAQ\nHiking Plus Page Links\nDisclaimer / Release of Liability
