We’ll walk the shore\, through the harbor to Portside\, back through the harbor to the settling ponds\, and return through the village to our cars. Total milage 6+. Those who are interested are welcome to view the 20 min history of channel islands in the theater at the visitor center. It’s narrated by Harrison Ford and is quite informative.This is a Sierra Club event. DESCRIPTION:The Santa Clara River is one of the last mostly natural remaining river ecosystems left in our state. There is no concrete or cement lining its sides or bottom. Until now. The county watershed protection agency (WPD) plans to repair 2.8 miles of the south bank from Hwy 101 upstream to Central Ave. \nSierra Club and other concerned organizations and local leaders need your help to insist on common betterments such as a levee bike path and trails\, vegetation covering the cement and more. \nIf you want to help our local environment\, please listen in and then take a simple step to write your thoughts to the county.
