SUMMARY:Santa Rosa/Wildwood - Canyon Overlook\, Stagecoach Bluff\, and Lizard Rock Loop
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/fri-17-nov-2017-18-49–3?p=-1&sh=aoxfvb \nHello Fellow Hikers! \nCindysue asked me if I wanted to lead a hike since she can’t hike this day. Please take note of the earlier start time. \nThis is a route that I created on my own back when I hiked this area every week. I have attached my AllTrails recording from the last time I did this hike. There will be an immediate incline to the top of the canyon. Then there will be a somewhat leveled off section with views of the canyon to the right and hills to the left. We will descend down towards the Paradise Falls area\, pass by a camp area\, and complete a few water crossings before starting our climb up Lizard Rock Trail back to the top of the canyon. After that\, it is all downhill back to our cars. \n* Note 1: There are no plans to stop at Paradise Falls\, however we can take a short break if we are making good time. This area (especially the falls) is often very crowded on weekends. * \n** Note 2: The trails near Paradise Falls are usually closed for 48 hours after heavy rainfall. The current forecast shows a storm starting on 3/20 and stopping on 3/23. I have an alternate route if the trail is closed. The distance should be about the same\, but the elevation gain will decrease. If it is still raining on Friday\, the hike will be postponed. ** \nLoop\nMiles – 5.41\nElevation Gain – 1529 ft\nRated – Moderate\nDogs allowed on leash\nParking – Free small dirt lot next to trailhead with overflow parking on Hill Canyon Rd closer towards Santa Rosa Rd \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you cannot finish for any reason please turn back early. \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled. \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules: \n\nHike your own hike\nPlease stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up\n\nPlease remember to bring all essentials you’ll need for a hike\n(water\, hat\, sunglasses\, hiking boot/hiking shoes poles\, snacks) \nLiability Disclaimer:\nAnd last….The Organizer\, Co Organizer\, Assistant Organizers and Event hosts in this group are not professional guides. The function of the Organizer is only to organize the trip. Each person who signs up for an Event is responsible for his or her own safety and the safety of his or her guest. Remember this is your hike. All responsibilities are of your own once you attend. Please be aware of your limit. During outdoor activity you can encounter bodily injury\, snake bites\, sunburn\, overheating\, etc. This is not within our control and we ask that you are prepared for any of the above once you sign up for an Event. If you need to take several breaks (not counting quick breather breaks) and stops throughout a hike\, the hike maybe too much for your ability. Please check each event for miles\, elevation gain\, and difficulty rating. The higher the elevation gain means more incline and less leveled off sections. We offer all levels of hikes from moderate to hard to advanced only. We encourage everyone to not give up work on your core by joining our easier moderate Events and then joining our harder hikes once you are ready. 😊

SUMMARY:PCT South via Tehachapi Willow Springs Road
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/pct-south-via-tehachapi-willow-springs-road \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nGot a treat for ya…another day trip….to the PCT in the Tehachapi Mountains! This part of the PCT is unique as it’s known for wild horses\,wild burros\, Joshua trees\, wild flowers but above all the windmills! Yes this section of the PCT will take us through the windmills. This desert landscape can get hot so a no can do during summer. With the recent winter weather the trail was covered with and up to waist high snow. And lower parts of the trails were just mud. So we should be hitting the trail after the winter conditions and before the summer with hopes of catching a glimpse of the wild horses. Not as well known trail (except for the Thru PCT hikers) so we should have most of this hike to ourselves. This trail is not to long so with our drive will be continuing our hike on the PCT to get in more mileage so expect at least a 12 mile day with about 1800 elevation gain. Afterwards Kim has found a 5 star (on Yelp) restaurant. this is a casual dining atmosphere just rated high for the food. It is a Indian flare with american food as well. My truck is filling up fast for carpooling so please message me if you need a ride or if you can take others and follow us from the carpool site..Carpooling at our same meetup spot will be offered for anyone who wishes to carpool or follow to the trailhead (Best donuts located 2325 Kuehner Dr # 127 Simi Valley off the 118 freeway at 8:00 am) I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, stats and photos. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/pct-south-via-tehachapi-willow-springs-road \nTrail out and back\nMiles around 12.0\nElevation Gain around 1800\nParking side road\nDogs allowed \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules: \n\nHike your own hike\nPlease stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up\n\nPlease remember to bring all essentials you’ll need for a hike\n(water\,hat\,sunglasses\,hiking boot/hiking shoes poles if needed snacks) \nLiability Disclaimer: \nAnd last….The Organizer\, Co Organizer\, Assistant Organizers and Event hosts in this group are not professional guides. DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/harmon-canyon-road-and-west-road?search=true \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nHarmon Canyon is back open after the rain damage and now it is time to hit this trail. Perfect time of year as its still green with wildflowers and still a cool breeze. SUMMARY:PCT: Indian Canyon to Vasquez Rocks
DESCRIPTION:** Please read the entire description before you RSVP as things will be a little different with this hike ** \nhttps://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/pct-vasquez-to-indian-canyon?u=i&sh=aoxfvb \nHello Everyone\, \nWe will be doing this hike northbound (opposite the AllTrails route). We will do close to 9 miles of the PCT. We will see some interesting rock formations including Three Sisters Rock and Vasquez Rocks and a cool tunnel under the 14 Freeway. We may also come across some PCT thru hikers. There is no shade\, so we will be starting as early as possible. Please make sure you are prepared for 5 hours of sun exposure. This is a point-to-point hike where one trailhead requires an Adventure Pass (America the Beautiful Pass also accepted). The meeting place will be the in the parking lot at the Vasquez Rocks Nature Center. The parking lot is free and opens at 8 am. We will carpool from Vasquez Rocks to the Indian Canyon trailhead (Adventure Pass required) and hopefully be on the trail by 8:30 am. At this point\, the group size is limited to 5 people because we only have 1 guaranteed carpool vehicle (we need to leave at least 1 at the end point). I will move people over from the waitlist if I can get another driver willing to transport hikers to the starting trailhead and/or hikers driving themselves to Vasquez Rocks willing to drive people back to their cars at Indian Canyon. Please DM me if you are willing to do any transporting. As a courtesy to others\, please remove yourself from the attending list immediately if you find that you cannot attend the hike. Hike your own hike 2. Please stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up\nPlease remember to bring all essentials you’ll need for a hike: (water\,hat\,sunglasses\,hiking boot/hiking shoes poles if needed snacks) \nLiability Disclaimer: And last….The Organizer\, Co Organizer\, Assistant Organizers and Event hosts in this group are not professional guides. During outdoor activity you can encounter bodily injury\, snake bites\, sunburn\, and overheating. This is not within our control and we ask that you are prepared for any of the above once you sign up for an event. If you need to take several breaks (not counting quick breather breaks) and stops throughout a hike\, the hike may be too much for your ability. Please check each event for miles\, elevation gain and difficulty rating. The higher the elevation gain means more incline and less leveled off sections. We encourage everyone to not give up working on their core by joining our easier moderate Events then joining our harder hikes once you are ready. 😊

SUMMARY:The Pianobox Prospect via Fish Canyon trail
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/the-pianobox-prospect-via-fish-canyon-trail?search=true \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nA bit of history to the area. It’s said these hills were once inhabited by the Allikliks a branch of the Shoshonean tribe. There is also a lot of lore surrounding this place that includes talk of Indian burial grounds\, gold mines\, spanish gold\, and even ghosts. Pianobox was named for the Piano that was said to be brought up there by the miners back in the old mining days in this area. With that said one thing you can guarantee is water crossings and lots of them. The water levels are more foot crossings now which makes this trail a good time to go before the weather heats up. SUMMARY:Woodridge Loop and Sunset Hills Loop Trails
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/woodridge-loop-and-sunset-hills-loop-trails-c900fe9 \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nThis one we will be combining two Trails in one. Both of these Trails are more on the easier moderate side but combining in a loop will give us more of a workout and a moderate hike. Your welcome to come out and just do a partial trail with us but please note we will be continuing our hike without turning back. SUMMARY:Brown Mountain Dam Waterfall
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/brown-mountain-dam-waterfall \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nHistorical Landmark Brown Mountain Dam sits right in the Middle of the Arroyo Seco River. This 81 foot waterfall quickly transports you from the suburbans to a natural wonderland. This dam was built in the early 1940’s and has become a big part of the wildlife below. Not uncommon to come across a bear in this area as the water is a important resource for the wildlife in this area. Besides the dam expect to cross the river a good 20 times and a few bridges. Throughout the trail it is covered with lush greenery\, from the canopy trees to wildflowers and plants. This is a very popular area so starting early is a good idea to find parking and be done before the hot temperatures hit. SUMMARY:Backbone Trail to Sandstone Peak and Mishe Mokwa Trail
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/backbone-trail-to-sandstone-peak-and-mishe-mokwa-trail-loop?u=i&sh=aoxfvb \nHey Everyone\, \nI am taking over for a couple weeks. It should be cooling down by the time this hike is scheduled. I might move up the start time if the heatwave decides to stick around a little longer since these trails have little to no shade. We will be going clockwise to get most of the incline out of the way in the beginning. Once we get to the top of Sandstone Peak\, we will stop for some photos before making our way down and around the loop. There were some reports of biting bugs and overgrown parts of the trail. There are also a few water crossings on the map. Where there’s water\, there’s probably poison oak. Bug spray and long pants are recommended. I have attached the AllTrails link for stats\, directions\, and photos. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/backbone-trail-to-sandstone-peak-and-mishe-mokwa-trail-loop?u=i&sh=aoxfvb \nLoop\nMiles 5.9\nRated moderate\nElevation Gain 1340 ft\nDogs on leash are allowed on this trail\, however I do not recommend it due to the heat\nTwo dirt lots and some roadside parking \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike\, so please know if you feel you cannot finish for any reason please turn back early. \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds\, or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled. \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules:\n1. SUMMARY:Mugu Peak to La Jolla Nature Preserve
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/mugu-peak-to-la-jolla-nature-preserve?u=i&sh=aoxfvb \nHey Everyone\, \nIt’s time to get some more elevation gain in or we (I) will never make it up Baldy. I’m not going to lie\, the first mile to Mugu Peak will be difficult\, but most of our elevation gain will be done. We are going to take it nice and slow because there’s still 8 miles to go. We will take some time to catch our breath at the top and take some photos. Then we’ll descend into La Jolla Valley Preserve to start our 4.5 mile loop. The loop is a mellow\, relatively easy hike. We will pass some water crossings\, a pond\, wildflowers\, and possibly some wildlife. We’ll make our way out of the valley and hike along the ridge for some ocean views before (slowly) making our way back down the steep hill to our cars. Bug spray\, long pants\, and poles are highly recommended for this hike. DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/sage-ranch-center-wood-canyon-fire-road-and-guadalasca-loop \nHello Fellow Hikers\, \nThis is a trail that is comprised of several trails into a loop. DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/saugus-to-the-sea-road-to-mission-point \nHello Fellow Hikers\, \nGonna be hitting Mission Point again. This time from the other side of the mountain. This trail has some great inclines from the start of our hike\, and pretty much a gradual incline until we reach the top. Our return hike is gradual hike down to our cars. Carpooling at our same meetup spot will be offered for anyone who wishes to carpool or follow to the trailhead (Best donuts located 2325 Kuehner Dr # 127 Simi Valley off the 118 freeway at 6:30 am) I have attached the AllTrails link for stats\, directions and photos. 😊
