DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/mount-san-antonio-mount-baldy-notch-trail \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nOkay if you haven’t done Mount San Antonio before you are in for a treat! This is my favorite route up Mount Baldy. We will be taking the Ski Hut trail to Baldy Bowl then onto the ridge to the top of Mount San Antonio 10\,069 ft. Once on top we will take a much needed break before heading down Devils Backbone to the Notch from there we will take the fireroad back down to our vehicles. This is a very hard hike and not suitable for beginners. This is a hike your own hike but with the altitude and elevation gain this will not be a fast pace hike either so if your limited on time this may not be the hike for you. Carpooling at our same meetup spot will be offered for anyone who wishes to carpool or follow to the trailhead (Best donuts located 2325 Kuehner Dr # 127 Simi Valley off the 118 freeway at 5:30am) I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, pics\, and stats https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/mount-san-antonio-mount-baldy-notch-trail \nTrail loop\nMiles 11.0\nElevation Gain 3943 ft\nParking is free roadside with adventure pass\nDogs are allowed but not recommended\nRated hard \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules:\n1. SUMMARY:San Bernardino Peak Trail via Angelus Oaks
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/san-bernardino-peak-trail-via-angelus-oaks \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nGonna be hitting one of the bigger peaks out of the 6 pack of peaks. This one has just reopened this year from the 2020 El Dorado fire. This is an impressive 10\,649 summit. The landscape has changed due to the fire but the climb to the top will be the same. We will have close views of San Gorgonio Peak and further views of Baldy. This is a long drive so I will be staying with a few others at Angelus Oaks Lodge that offers cabins with a excellent price as its cash only and only a couple miles from the trailhead. The permit I have for the hike is for the max 12 people so we will not be moving anyone from the go list if we max out (unless someone drops off) Please know that the drive to the trailhead is a bit rocky. I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, pics\, and stats: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/san-bernardino-peak-trail-via-angelus-oaks \nTrail out and back\nMiles 16.9\nElevation Gain 4721 ft\nRated Hard (not for beginners)\nDogs allowed but must be conditioned for longer harder hikes\nParking is free dirt lot must display an Adventure Pass \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules:\n1. SUMMARY:Three Points to Pacifico Mountain Campground via Pacific Crest Trail
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/three-points-to-pacifico-mountain-campground/photos \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nTime to get in a long endurance hike. This is gonna be a long day but worth the trek. This time of year we will probably see a lot of thru hikers on the PCT trail. This trail will be both exposed and shaded. This will be a great conditioning hike as it is gradual with the last part being the climb up. Some people have stated that the trail is longer but they did veer off the original map to take an easier way to the top and back. We will be on the PCT through the route so the trail should be easier to follow now that it is open after being closed due to covid. This is a forest setting surrounded by mountains. This is a lesser known trail besides the PCTers. The temps are supposed to cool down this weekend but bring extra water just incase. Carpooling at our same meetup spot will be offered for anyone who wishes to carpool or follow to the trailhead (Best donuts located 2325 Kuehner Dr # 127 Simi Valley off the 118 freeway at 5:45am) I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, pics\, and stats: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/three-points-to-pacifico-mountain-campground/photos \nTrail out and back\nMiles 18.7\nElevation Gain 3234ft\nRated Hard\nDogs allowed but must be conditioned for a longer harder hike\nParking must have Adventure Pass displayed \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules:\n1. SUMMARY:Mount Whitney Trail
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/mount-whitney-via-mount-whitney-trail \nPlease note… we have 8 spots all are filled at the moment but we do have permit holders that may not be able to go so I am gonna pull from the waitlist to take their places but it will not be in waitlist order sorry I need to make sure that all that attend will be able to handle the hike as well as their own transportation and lodging. Most in the group will be camping at Horseshoe Meadows or you can get a hotel room in Lone Pine. \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nOkay I got permits to hike the Mount Whitney Trail! Mount Whitney is the highest mountain in the contiguous United States and the Sierra Nevada\, with an elevation of 14\,505 feet. This will be a ALL DAY hike. We plan to start at 12am to acclimate ourselves as we hike this BEAUTIFUL mountain. Our goal is to reach the summit by noon so we can do a little picture taking and relaxing before we make our trek back down the mountain. This is not a trail to be underestimated it is extremely hard and just as hard going down the mountain. We are gonna encounter several different lakes and several different views as well as possible weather changes. We are all gonna stay together on this one so patients is a must. This will not be like our normal Meetup this will be a group effort to get to the top but its a easy trail to follow so if anyone needs to turn back that won’t be a problem however I encourage everyone to download AllTrails and the offline map as that is what we will be following. I will leave more as far as meeting times ect as we get closer to the event… \nTrail out and back\nMiles 21\nRated hard\nElevation Gain 6646 ft\nDogs not allowed \nYou will need to bring trail runners or trail boots\, hiking poles\, plenty of water\, a life straw or hydration filter\, electrolytes\, food and snacks\, your cell phone\, be prepared for possible rain and wind so both light and cooler weather clothing (wind breaker or hoodie) please download AllTrails and the offline map. \nLiability Disclaimer:\nAnd last….The Organizer\, Co Organizer\, Assistant Organizers and Event hosts in this group are not professional guides. The function of the organizer is only to organize the trip. Each person who signs up for a Event is responsible for his or her own safety and the safety of his or her guest. DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/kagel-mountain-via-dillon-divide \nHello fellow Hikers\,\nThis is a little known hike actually most people are even unaware these mountains are back there. This is however a very popular spot for Hang gliders\, Paragliders and Wing gliders. They travel to the top of this mountain by helicopter and from there they make there descend off the mountain. And that is where we are headed to the heliport pad and hopefully get to encounter some amazing jumps. This trail is really pretty mountains views that go on. Not to strenouse more of a gradual hike up to the top. SUMMARY:San Vicente Mountain: Old Nike Missile Site Trail
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/san-vicente-mountain-old-nike-missile-site-trail–3/photos \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nWe are gonna be visiting LA96C Nike Missile Site to start our trail. Then will continue on Sullivan fire road down the mountain. Now for a little piece of history about our hike….\nDuring the Cold War this was a military reservation. LA96C was one of 16 Nike missile sites that protected Los Angeles from a feared attack by Soviet bombers. It was an active battery from 1956-1968 with radar searching the sky for enemy airplanes. New military technology made the Nike missiles obsolete\, and the site has been made into a park. Nature is reclaiming the military ruins. SUMMARY:Devils Chair Trail
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/devils-chair-trail \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nIt’s Halloween! What better hike to do then Devils Chair?! This trail is a fan favorite among hikers but unfortunately was devastated in the Bobcat fire and closed for a few years. It has finally reopened and what better day to hike it. Now a little about the trail….When you arrive at the fenced “Devil’s Chair”\, you will walk out onto a peninsula of white crushed rock with a 250-foot drop-off. Look straight down from the chair and you will see a line which stretches up a ridge to your left. The pinkish Punchbowl sandstone curves up and ends at this line. The San Gabriel Mountains are being thrusted up behind you and the Punchbowl rocks are being dragged up with the mountains. As you look across the canyon below\, you will see the Pinyon Fault\, Pinyon Ridge and the San Andreas Fault. The notch in Pinyon Ridge is formed by Big Rock Creek. The Punchbowl Fault is one of the most studied faults in the world because it has so much surface exposure. Most faults are covered with sediment and can’t be seen. Carpooling at our same meetup spot will be offered for anyone who wishes to carpool or follow to the trailhead (Best donuts located 2325 Kuehner Dr # 127 Simi Valley off the 118 freeway at 7:30am) I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, stats and photos…https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/devils-chair-trail \nTrail out and back\nMiles 6.9\nElevation Gain 1368 ft\nRated hard (but really more on the moderate hard side)\nParking free dirt lot\nDogs allowed \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early. \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled (this area is known for extreme weather both heat and snow which causes seasonal road closures) \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules: \n\nHike your own hike\nPlease stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up\n\nPlease remember to bring all essentials you’ll need for a hike \nLiability Disclaimer: \nAnd last….The Organizer\, Co Organizer\, Assistant Organizers and Event hosts in this group are not professional guides. DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/albertson-motorway-to-edison-and-norway \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nIt has now finally cooled down enough to where we can explore less shaded more open trails. This is a local favorite trail ( Albertson Motorway ) for this area but we will be exploring the trail from start to finish. This trail has a lot of popular connecting trails but were gonna continue on and do the less traveled loop at the end of the trail then make our way back. This trail is rated hard but it’s more of a gradual incline so most would consider this more of a moderate hike. The mountains are finally turning green so should be beautiful and clear out. SUMMARY:Mentryville: Pico Canyon Trail
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/mentryville-pico-canyon-trail \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nMentryville Park is a moderate hike through a historic ghost town and oil-drilling village outside Santa Clarita. Beyond the oil history\, the site also features beautiful rolling hills and lovely views\, especially in the cooler months. Those who are unaware of Southern California’s preserved history need look no further than present-day Santa Clarita. To its east in Placerita Canyon\, California’s first gold was discovered in 1842 – a full six years before the better known strike at Sutter’s Mill. And here in Pico Canyon – less than 10 miles from Placerita as the crow flies – sits the site of California’s first commercially viable oil well. Mentryville and the surrounding canyons became popular shooting locations for films and television shows\, including Lassie movies\, The Color Purple\, the X-Files\, Murder\, She Wrote\, and Big Love. Carpooling at our same meetup spot will be offered for anyone who wishes to carpool or follow to the trailhead (Best donuts located 2325 Kuehner Dr # 127 Simi Valley off the 118 freeway at 9:15am) I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, stats and photos..https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/mentryville-pico-canyon-trail \nTrail out and back\nMiles 6.8\nElevation Gain 1272 ft\nRated moderate\nDogs allowed\nParking $5.00 fee \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early. \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules: \n\nHike your own hike\nPlease stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up\n\nPlease remember to bring all essentials you’ll need for a hike \nLiability Disclaimer: \nAnd last….The Organizer\, Co Organizer\, Assistant Organizers and Event hosts in this group are not professional guides.
