DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/rock-ridge-to-simi-peak–2 \nHello Fellow Hikers\,Another route up to Simi Peak. SUMMARY:Las Llajas The Ridge Rocky peak Hummingbird Bridle path Mount Sinai
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/las-llajas-canyon-and-ridge-loop \nHello Fellow Hikers\,Okay the AllTrails attached is our starting point and we are doing the Ridge but we are going to continue on a different route from there. This will be a harder trail and not for beginners. The first 2 miles is 1800 elevation gain! It’s one of those hikes I’ll need to take quick breather breaks going up..lol we’re gonna connect several trails to make a loop. Starting from Las Llajas we will quickly turn off to the Ridge trail then on to Rocky Peak then down Hummingbird to the Bridle path then Mount Sinai from there a short hike on Chumash then down to our cars. This is a workout and a great way to see several trails without doing a point to point. SUMMARY:Will Rogers to Temescal Peak
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/will-rogers-to-temescal-peak-to-split-rock-spur \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nHave you ever been to Will Rogers State Park? If not your in for a treat! This is my favorite state park to hike. There is so much eye candy here! From the ocean view on one side to downtown LA on the other\, a bridge\, stairs\, wildflowers everywhere I have not been to this trail and not seen several deer here it really is a pretty hike. You will not feel that this trail is a lot of incline due to all the sights to see. So much is offered on this hike. The trail posted is a point to point we will be doing this trail on a out and back. Our goal will be to try and make it to Temescal Peak but if not will go to Goat Peak or as far as we can. So expect a 10-12 mile day. This trail is moderate but it does have a lot of continuous uphill so a beginner hiker may find this trail difficult. We will have to start our time at 8am as that’s when the gates open and we want to insure a parking spot. Carpooling at our same meetup spot will be offered for anyone who wishes to carpool (Best donuts located 2325 Kuehner Dr # 127 Simi Valley off the 118 freeway at 7:15am) I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, pics\, and stats: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/will-rogers-to-temescal-peak-to-split-rock-spur \nTrail out and back\nMiles 10+\nElevation Gain 2\,000 (at least)\nDogs unfortunately not allowed in this state park\nParking is paid lot $12 or you can park free outside the park and walk in (but note that fills up fast so you’ll have to get there early if you want to park outside the park)\nRated moderate \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early. \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules: \n1. DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/chief-peak-rd-to-chief-peak \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nOkay time to venture out towards Ojai. And this is gonna be a good one. Many say this is a leg burner. A lot of good incline up. And some rock scrambling to the top of Chief Peak which is nearly a 5600 foot elevation summit. Will have both ocean and mountain views. While there we can decide if we want to add an extra mile to see the Rose Valley Falls. This trail is rated hard so not suitable for beginners. Carpooling at our same location for anyone who would like to carpool or follow to the trailhead. Please note we are starting to schedule our meetup for a 9:00am start as the weather is slowly warming up. Where we will be rewarded with a peak marker a register box and some beautiful views… I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, stats and photos….The AllTrails link is not to the summit so the trail miles and elevation is listed below…https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/rocky-peak-summit-trail \nTrail out and back\nRated moderate\nMileage 5.9\nElevation gain 1368\nDogs are able to use this trail but there is a scramble to the peak\nParking free dirt lot and road side \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early. \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules: \n1. SUMMARY:Coquina Mine Trail (Loop)
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/coquina-mine-trail–3 \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nWe have another request to do this trail again…Will be hiking to Coquina Mine in Simi Valley. A little history on the trail from Alltrails…. ” This was a mining operation that started in 1929 and ceased in year 1935. Limestone was mined here for an extremely pure form of Calcium Carbonate (Calcite CaCO3) As you start to travel further up the trail you’ll find abandoned mining equipment with large boulders of both Limestone and Fossils. The trail will end at the mining site with the largest mining equipment abandoned there. This was a strip mining operation so there are no shafts or adits ” This trail is a out and back but will will be doing this as a loop trail. \nTrail mileage about 7 miles\nElevation gain about 1100 ft\nDogs allowed\nWill be a loop trail\nRated Moderate hike\nFree street parking \nThis hike will Start off on a paved road for about 200 feet then becomes a dirt fire road through a Canyon until we turn off to make our climb to Coquina Mine. From here we will be on a single track trail. Once we leave the top of Coquina Mine we will make our way back down to a split were we will start our loop. This section will be narrow and follows the side of a mountain were will follow the backside mountains of Simi Valley. Most of the trail will be in mountain ranges and canyons with no views of housing or commercial buildings. Generally a lot of wildlife in this area so hopefully we will get lucky to see some within eyesight. Just a friendly reminder to please bring enough water for the entire duration of the hike as well as snacks.\nI will load a AllTrails link below that will give you directions to the trailhead location.as well as pics of the trail stats ratings map ect. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/coquina-mine-trail–3 \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nPlease remember to bring all essentials you’ll need for a hike \nLast thing we will follow Jims most important rules.. \n1. Hike Your Own Hike\n2. DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/mt-wilson-via-little-santa-anita-canyon \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nOkay let’s face it\, hiking on foot there is no easy way to get to the top of Mount Wilson. Once at the top we are gonna make our way to the peak and if the cafe is open will stop for food. Expect a long day with closer to 16 miles and elevation gain closer to 5\,000. This is one of the 6 pack of peaks. Not recommended for beginners. SUMMARY:Bulldog Loop Trail
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/bulldog-loop \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nYour in for a treat if you have never hiked this trail. Will be starting our hike out of Malibu Creek State Park. Will be passing through the Mash and Planet of the Apes filming locations. Will also be taking some side trails to see both Century Lake and Rock Pond so expect our hike to be closer to 16 miles and our elevation gain closer to 3200-3400 ft. Will eventually come onto the Bulldog trail and will start our huffing and puffing (that will be me) there. The trail will take us to the a portion of the Backbone trail which is one of the most unige sections of the Backbone. Will be going up and on some of the rock formations (no climbing required) It will feel and look like you’re now in AZ or New Mexico. Will also take a quick side trail (if I can remember it) to Jim Morrison’s (from the Doors) secret spot where he wrote all his music. Will finally start our descent down a Canyon on the other side of the Mountain were we will start looping back. Some reviews stated it was hard to find the trail back at the last portion to there cars so they walked a short distance on the road but we will try to stay on trails only but just noted incase. We are also gonna start our hike out of Malibu Creek State Park as it accommodates more vehicles and the starting point on AllTrails only accommodates about 8 cars and it is a very popular spot as it has no fee. Malibu Creek State Park is a $10 fee. If you would like to find road parking which is free or start at the AllTrails spot please just make your way into MCSP and will be waiting at the restrooms next to the parking lot. Please note this is a hard trail and not suited for beginner hikers.
