SUMMARY:Mount McKinley via Gold Creek
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/mount-mckinley-via-gold-creek \nHello fellow Hikers…Okay got another little known trail in the western San Gabriel Mountains located in Sylmar/Sunland area called Mount McKinley. This trail is a moderate climb on a fireroad until we hit a turn off to start our climb towards the top. This is where the hard rating comes in. From here will encounter some overgrowth due to a less traveled trail but should be doable. So the first three to four miles should be a gradual climb with the last one to two miles being our workout. I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, stats and photos….We will be following the AllTrails map from start to finish… \nTrail out and backMiles 10.7Rated HardElevation gain 2988Dogs…Unsure as it doesn’t specify \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules:1) Hike your own hike2) Please stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up \nPlease remember to bring your face covering and all essentials you’ll need for a hike. \nAnd last….The Organizer\, Assistant Organizer and Event host in this group are not professional guides. SUMMARY:Rocky Peak Trail to the Peak
DESCRIPTION:Hello fellow Hikes\,This is my favorite local hike. This has the perfect amount of elevation gain with views to make this a great hike. Not a long trail so you can get in a great workout and still go and enjoy the rest of your day. This trail is a nice wide trail that starts to cimb from the parking lot. It continues with both inclines and level sections until you begin your finish climb to the top. Once you have reached the top we will veer off the main trail to a side trail that will take to the actual peak of Rocky Peak. Where we will be rewarded with a peak marker a register box and some beautiful views… I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, stats and photos…. \nTrail out and backRated moderateMileage 5.3Elevation gain 1306Dogs are able to use this trail but there is a scramble to the peak \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules:1) Hike your own hike2) Please stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up \nPlease remember to bring your face covering and all essentials you’ll need for a hike. \nAnd last….The Organizer\, Assistant Organizer and Event host in this group are not professional guides. SUMMARY:Bighorn and Ontario Peak Loop
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/ontario-peak-and-bighorn-peak-loop?u=i \nHello Fellow Hikers\,This is one of my favorite peaks. It’s a lesser traveled peak verses the others in your six pack of peak trails. But not to take any credit away from this beautiful peak! This trail will start from Ice House Canyon which we will follow to the Saddle. From there we will take a much needed break to get some snacks in and take a breather. Will continue our hike to Ontario Peak were we will be rewarded with a peak sign and a bottle opener that is built into the tree. After our rest and snack and pics are finished we will then continue our hike to Bighorn which we will be rewarded with another sign and more views. Once we are done will head back to the Saddle were from there we will take the Chapman trail back to Ice House Canyon. This hike is absolutely incredible with gorgeous views from start to finish. You will need a Aventures Pass or America the Beautiful pass. This will not be a fast paced hike. I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, stats and photos… \nTrail LoopMiles 14.0Elevation gain 4317Rated Hard ( not recommended for beginners)Dogs Are allowed but must be trained for an advanced hike and distance \nThis is a harder hike and poles are not required but highly recommendedsnacks\, electrolytes\, water…there is a creek at Ice House Canyon but no other water source. \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules:1) Hike your own hike2) Please stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up \nPlease remember to bring your face covering and all essentials you’ll need for a hike. \nAnd last….The Organizer\, Assistant Organizer and Event host in this group are not professional guides. DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/ranch-overlook-old-boney-and-hidden-valley-overlook-trail?u=i \nHello Fellow Hikers\,This is showing as a less traveled route in this area so I thought hmm why not check it out. The trail is rated easy but the route stops at a junction so we will add a little more mileage and continue the Hidden Valley Overlook trail to the end. I’m guessing this will put us at 6.0 miles with a little more elevation gain ( maybe 1\,000 at the most ) I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, stats and photos….The pin map will take you to the area I have written the directions underneath the map or you can follow the AllTrails directions straight to the Meetup site. We will be following the AllTrails map from start to finish… \nTrail Out and backMiles about 6Elevation gain about 1.000Trail rated Easy..but will have some inclineDogs Sorry not allowed on this trail \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules:1) Hike your own hike2) Please stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up \nPlease remember to bring your face covering and all essentials needed for a hike. \nAnd last….The Organizer\, Assistant Organizer and Event host in this group are not professional guides. SUMMARY:San Gorgonio from Fish Creek
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/san-gorgonio-mountain-from-fish-creek?u=i \nHello Fellow Hikers\,San Gorgonio Mountain\, also known locally as Mount San Gorgonio\, or Old Greyback\, is the highest peak in Southern California and the Transverse Ranges at 11\,503 feet (3\,506 m)Spanish missionaries in the area during the early 17th century named the peak after Saint Gorgonius. Since it is the highest point in a region which is separated from higher peaks (e.g. in the Sierra Nevada) by relatively low terrain\, San Gorgonio Mountain is one of the most topographically prominent peaks in the United States. It is ranked 7th among peaks in the 48 contiguous states and 18th overall. This route from Fish creek is the most gradual trek up to the peak but also the longest. I have a permit for 10 so would like to invite 9 fellow hikers to join me. This will not be a fast paced hike as we will have a long day ahead of us. From this route you will need to drive at least 8 miles on a bumpy dirt road this is one of the reasons (besides length) this route is less traveled. do not depend on water sources on this hike as it has only two areas close to the start of the hike that may or may not have water. This is one of those bucket list hikes and also part of the Peak Challenge. . I have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, stats and photos… \nTrail out and backmiles 19.2 (expect a 20 mile day)Elevation gain 3687Rated hard (not recommended for beginners)Dogs (not recommended due to length and time)Adventure Pass is required \nThis is a harder hike and poles are not required but highly recommendedsnacks\, electrolytes\, water..prepare for a long day \nWe will always follow Jim’s Golden Rules:1) Hike your own hike2) Please stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up \nPlease remember to bring your face covering and all essentials you’ll need for a hike. \nAnd last….The Organizer\, Assistant Organizer and Event host in this group are not professional guides. The function of the organizer is only to organize the trip. Each person who signs up for a Event is responsible for his or her own safety and the safety of his or her guess \nWe will have a meetup spot off 118 freeway and Kuehner ave at the strip mall across from the gas station so everyone can follow each other up or you can meet us at the trailhead I’ll be following the AllTrails directions to the trailhead. 4am meeting time it’s a long ride to the trailhead…..
