SUMMARY:Betty B. Dearing Trail
DESCRIPTION:Hello Fellow Hikers\, \nOkay I have heard so much about this trail but have yet to go. Until now. I’m excited to see what all the talk is about. The “Rainforest” section is what so many people comment on. So let’s check it out. Reviews state that this trail has a lot of variety\, from hill climbs to open views to shade to “the rainforest” so here’s our chance to see what all the buzz is about. Carpooling at our same meetup spot will be offered for anyone who wishes to carpool or follow to the trailhead (Best donuts located 2325 Kuehner Dr # 127 Simi Valley off the 118 freeway at 7:15 am) have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, pics\, and stats..https://www.alltrails.com/…/betty-b-dearing-trail–2 \nTrail out and back \nMiles 7.8\nElevation Gain 1532 ft\nRated moderate\nParking free paved lot\nDogs allowed \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nGolden Rules: \n\nHike your own hike\n2)Please stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up\n\nPlease remember to bring all essentials you’ll need for a hike (water\,hat\,sunglasses\,hiking boot/hiking shoes poles if needed snacks) \nLiability Disclaimer: \nAnd last….The Organizers in this group are not professional guides. The function of the Organizer is only to organize the trip. Each person who signs up for an Event is responsible for his or her own safety and the safety of his or her guest. Remember this is your hike. All responsibilities are of your own once you attend. Please be aware of your limit. During outdoor activity you can encounter bodily injury\, snake bites\, sunburn\, overheating\, etc. This is not within our control and we ask that you are prepared for any of the above once you sign up for an Event. If you need to take several breaks (not counting quick breather breaks) and stops throughout a hike\, the hike maybe too much for your ability. Please check each event for miles\, elevation gain\, and difficulty rating. The higher the elevation gain means more incline and less leveled off sections. We offer all levels of hikes from moderate to hard to advanced only. We encourage everyone to not give up work on your core by joining our easier moderate Events and then joining our harder hikes once you are ready.

SUMMARY:Coquina Mine Trail (Loop)
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/coquina-mine-trail–3 \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nWe have another request to do this trail again…Will be hiking to Coquina Mine in Simi Valley. A little history on the trail from Alltrails…. ” This was a mining operation that started in 1929 and ceased in year 1935. Limestone was mined here for an extremely pure form of Calcium Carbonate (Calcite CaCO3) As you start to travel further up the trail you’ll find abandoned mining equipment with large boulders of both Limestone and Fossils. The trail will end at the mining site with the largest mining equipment abandoned there. This was a strip mining operation so there are no shafts or adits ” This trail is a out and back but will will be doing this as a loop trail. \nTrail mileage about 7 miles\nElevation gain about 1100 ft\nDogs allowed\nWill be a loop trail\nRated Moderate hike\nFree street parking \nThis hike will Start off on a paved road for about 200 feet then becomes a dirt fire road through a Canyon until we turn off to make our climb to Coquina Mine. From here we will be on a single track trail. Once we leave the top of Coquina Mine we will make our way back down to a split were we will start our loop. This section will be narrow and follows the side of a mountain were will follow the backside mountains of Simi Valley. Most of the trail will be in mountain ranges and canyons with no views of housing or commercial buildings. Generally a lot of wildlife in this area so hopefully we will get lucky to see some within eyesight. Just a friendly reminder to please bring enough water for the entire duration of the hike as well as snacks.\nI will load a AllTrails link below that will give you directions to the trailhead location.as well as pics of the trail stats ratings map ect. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/coquina-mine-trail–3 \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nPlease remember to bring all essentials you’ll need for a hike\n(water\,hat\,sunglasses\,hiking boot/hiking shoes poles if needed snacks) \nLast thing we will follow Jims most important rules.. \n\nHike Your Own Hike\nStop at all splits or junctions on the trail for others to catch up\n\nLiability Disclaimer:\nAnd last….The Organizer\, Co Organizer\, Assistant Organizers and Event hosts in this group are not professional guides. SUMMARY:Josephine Peak Trail
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/josephine-peak-trail \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nStanding at 5\,558 feet on the western edge of the San Gabriel Mountains\, Josephine Peak is not your ordinary summit hike. The 8.5-mile (round-trip) out-and-back climb gains 2\,058 feet to a former fire lookout with tremendous views of the San Gabriels\, including Strawberry Peak. The peak is quite eclectic. Remnants of a fire lookout that stood from 1936 to 1975 were sadly destroyed by a fire\, but there’s still a bookshelf\, a concrete foundation\, and communication towers. SUMMARY:Las Llajas Canyon and Ridge Loop
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/las-llajas-canyon-and-ridge-loop \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nOkay it’s that time again\, time to hike The Ridge! dun dun dun dun..lol I know so dramatic. Okay for those of you who have not experienced this hike be prepared to workout! I know your thinking really 9.1 miles with a 1850 elevation gain? We have done much harder…But the first 3 miles of this hike you’re elevation gain will be 1600! Now before you roll your eyes and move onto another event y’all are faster than me on Tapo Canyon! So if I got this so do you! 😎 Now for the trail…This trail will start out with all the hard parts up front. After your first 3 miles it is smooth sailing. This trail is not very popular (The Ridge part) so it may have some overgrowth so pants are suggested. Oh and don’t get me started on the views! Will be doing the trail this time from Las Llajas to the Ridge then back to Las Llajas. You do not need to be a fast hiker as many people (like me) take several breather break to the top. But you need to be a strong hiker so sorry no beginners on this hike. SUMMARY:Magic Mountain Trail
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/magic-mountain \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nThis little known trail is where Magic Mountain theme park got its name. It’s a constant climb that peaks at 4\,846 ft. And as per several descriptions\, this was once the site of the radar for the nuclear-tipped Ajax missiles in the 1950s. After the missiles were decommissioned\, it was used as a test site for the control thrusters on the Apollo Lunar module. Magic Mountain’s “remote” location was ideal “for rocket testing with highly reactive and/or toxic propellants.” Remnants of the test site — the water tanks and the test beds — are still visible. Afterwards this road was used for OHV but has now been taken back by mother nature so its a old paved road. Some of the road has been washed away but we follow the path that’s not on this section of road. Vehicles are no longer permitted on this trail and it is used mostly by hikers\, runners and MB. Once at the top there is a peak marker and the communication towers but those that have been here\, stated the views on top is why you hike here. Carpooling at our same meetup spot will be offered for anyone who wishes to carpool or follow to the trailhead (Best donuts located 2325 Kuehner Dr # 127 Simi Valley off the 118 freeway at 9:15 am) have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, pics\, and stats…https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/magic-mountain \nTrail out and back\nMiles 14.4\nElevation Gain 2506 ft\nRated hard\nDogs allowed but must be trained for longer harder hikes\nParking paved lot and side dirt road the ranger site doesn’t specify whether you need an Adventure Pass but have one just incase. \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nGolden rules: \n\nHike your own hike\nPlease stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up\n\nPlease remember to bring all essentials you’ll need for a hike (water\,hat\,sunglasses\,hiking boot/hiking shoes poles if needed snacks) \nLiability Disclaimer:\nAnd last….The Organizer\, Co Organizer\, Assistant Organizers and Event hosts in this group are not professional guides. DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/afternoon-hike-8597a6c–496 \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nWe have a request from a fellow hiker to repeat this awesome hike. It has been a bit since we had done this one. We combined to popular hikes into one and it went really well. The only difference we are gonna make\, is our starting point. Last time the parking lot was so small we barely fit everyone. So this time we are starting out off of the Autumn Ridge Trail (the pin drop reflects new parking spot). This is mostly open views with little shade so this time of year will be perfect for this hike. This has both incline and leveled off sections. Anyone is welcomed to just do part of the trail and turn back but please note we are continuing on. There is no peak or turning around point so we don’t plan to take breaks just quick breather breaks. have attached the AllTrails link for pics\, and stats..https://www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/afternoon-hike-8597a6c–496 \nTrail loops\nMiles 9.25\nElevation Gain 1675 ft\nRated moderate\nParking street\nDogs allowed \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nGolden rules: \n\nHike your own hike\nPlease stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up\n\nPlease remember to bring all essentials you’ll need for a hike (water\,hat\,sunglasses\,hiking boot/hiking shoes poles if needed snacks) \nLiability Disclaimer:\nAnd last….The Organizer\, Co Organizer\, Assistant Organizers and Event hosts in this group are not professional guides. SUMMARY:West Fork National Scenic Bikeway
DESCRIPTION:https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/west-fork-national-scenic-bikeway \nHello Fellow Hikers\,\nOkay y’all the rain is back for the weekend. So time to hit the best hike to do in the rain! Why you ask? This is a 14.5 mile hike in the San Gabriel Mountains. This little unknown gem will follow water throughout our whole hike. But we will never have to cross over it. The trail is completely paved. Yep you heard that right. It is located in the mountains/forestry with no commercial or residential anywhere insight. And will probably be the only ones there. Now for the trail…It is more of a flat paved trail (no vehicles are allowed ) that whines throughout the mountains with hanging overlay of trees above us. This trail is rated moderate due to the length and the last mile we have a gradual climb that ends at a heliport pad. Carpooling at our same meetup spot will be offered for anyone who wishes to carpool or follow to the trailhead (Best donuts located 2325 Kuehner Dr # 127 Simi Valley off the 118 freeway at 8:45 am) have attached the AllTrails link for directions\, pics\, and stats…https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/west-fork-national-scenic-bikeway \nTrail out and back\nMiles 14.5\nRated moderate\nElevation Gain 1167 ft\nDogs allowed\nParking paved lot ..$5.00 fee and requires a Adventure Pass ( can be bought at REI or Big 5 Sporting Goods) \nAs of now there is no sweeper for this hike so please know if you feel you can not finish for any reason please turn back early \nPlease check back on hike info as rain\, heat advisory\, strong winds or low attendance may cause the hike to be rescheduled \nGolden rules: \n\nHike your own hike\nPlease stop at every junction and split to wait for others to catch up\n\nPlease remember to bring all essentials you’ll need for a hike (water\,hat\,sunglasses\,hiking boot/hiking shoes poles if needed snacks) \nLiability Disclaimer: \nAnd last….The Organizer\, Co Organizer\, Assistant Organizers and Event hosts in this group are not professional guides.
