SUMMARY:Wilderness Access Day - Gypsum Canyon Wilderness
DESCRIPTION:Additional registration is not required for the event. \nDetails about the event: https://letsgooutside.org/activities/2025/06/14/wilderness-access-day-gypsum-canyon-wilderness-25/ \nPlease join us for our second exploratory hike at Gypsum Canyon! We plan to do 4-5 miles with roughly 800 ft. of elevation gain. \nLocated within OC Parks’ Irvine Ranch Open Space\, Gypsum Canyon Wilderness features seven new trails for hiking\, mountain biking and horseback riding. Two lookout points offer sweeping views of the surrounding canyons and unique prehistoric rock formations. Multiple loop options that vary in distance and range from easy to moderate in difficulty are available for self-guided exploration. \nGypsum Canyon Wilderness is comprised of protected and preserved native habitats that a variety of wildlife\, including mule deer\, red-tailed hawks\, California gnatcatchers and bobcats\, call home. \nRain or inclement weather will cancel the program. \nGypsum Canyon Wilderness is located at 390 South Gypsum Canyon Road\, Anaheim\, CA 92887. \nParking is free.

SUMMARY:Hike to the Brown Mountain Dam Waterfall - Gabrieleno Trail
DESCRIPTION:This hike is so cool! It’s a good distance with little elevation gain and it is beautiful. \nThis hike will take us to the Brown Mountain Dam Waterfall. The hike is an out and back at around 8 miles total with 750 ft. of elevation gain\, so not steep! This area of the Angeles National Forest is beautiful so I’m really looking forward to this hike. \nThere are a lot of shallow water crossings\, so please be prepared to get your feet wet. There is also a lot of shade\, so it’s great on warmer days. \nMake sure to bring plenty of water\, sunscreen\, a hat\, snacks\, and good hiking boots or shoes! \nGoogle Maps: https://www.google.com/maps/place/JPL+Riparian+Zone/@34.2029024\,-118.1682544\,17z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x80c2c30f4d8248d1:0xd1fc05d47252423f!8m2!3d34.2019973!4d-118.1658189!16s%2Fg%2F11s_w23wgd!5m1!1e4?entry=ttu \nPlease look at the map and directions ahead of time so you know where to go. \nParking is free in the lot and other side streets.

SUMMARY:Hike at Caspers Wilderness Park - Bell Canyon + Oso Trail
DESCRIPTION:The hike I am planning is around 6.3 miles with about 700 ft. of elevation gain. It starts at the very end of the paved road\, the long gray strip that can be seen on the map. \nWe will begin at the Bell Canyon Trail head. We will continue onto that and then take it to the Cougar Pass trail. We will go up that and make a left on Oso Trail. Once that ends\, we will come back down Bell Canyon Trail until we hit Star Ridge Trail. We will take this to West Ridge Trail and go left. This will take us to a single track trail\, Dick Loskorn Trail. This hits Nature Loops Trail and this will take us back to the beginning. \nThis is a beautiful hike with expansive views. It is a nice and remote hike\, so you are really out there in the wilderness. \nIf you have any questions regarding the park or the trails we will be on\, please let me know! \nHere is a link to the park map: http://ocparks.com/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=8164 \nThe address is: 33401 Ortega Hwy. San Juan Capistrano\, CA 92675 \nDogs are not allowed at this park. \nParking is $5\, unless you have an OC Parks Annual Permit. If you hike a lot\, it’s totally worth it: http://ocparks.com/about/fees/pass You can buy the pass at the park.

SUMMARY:Hike to the Hollywood Sign/Bronson Caves - Mt. Lee Summit
DESCRIPTION:I’m very excited to plan another hike up to the Hollywood Sign and the Bronson Caves. \nThis will take us to the summit of Mt. Lee where we will get the best views of the Hollywood Sign. The total mileage for our journey will be approximately 7 miles. Our elevation change should be about 1\,200 ft. \nWe will meet at the end of Canyon Drive which is where we will park. There will be parking options right at the address listed\, on the left\, and also right before that lot on a dirt patch. \nWe will be on Canyon Drive to start on up the canyon. Once we hit Mulholland Trail we will head left and this will take us to views of the front of the Hollywood Sign. After this we’ll go a short ways up the spiral road up to the summit of Mt. Lee. Once we’ve reach the top\, we’ll head back down to where we started. Once we get to the end\, we’ll go on a slight detour to the Bronson Caves. This is the Batcave from Batman. How cool is that?! \nBring lots of water\, sunscreen\, snacks/food\, jacket\, and anything else you think you’ll need. \nHere is the address (this will take you to the parking lot): 2974 Canyon Drive\, Los Angeles\, CA 90068 \nDogs are allowed on this hike. \nThere is a bathroom in the parking lot. \nPlease ask any questions you may have.
