SUMMARY:Hike at Caspers Wilderness Park - Bell Canyon + Oso Trail + In-N-Out after
DESCRIPTION:The hike I am planning is around 6.3 miles with about 700 ft. of elevation gain. It starts at the very end of the paved road\, the long gray strip that can be seen on the map. \nWe will begin at the Bell Canyon Trail head. We will continue onto that and then take it to the Cougar Pass trail. We will go up that and make a left on Oso Trail. Once that ends\, we will come back down Bell Canyon Trail until we hit Star Ridge Trail. We will take this to West Ridge Trail and go left. This will take us to a single track trail\, Dick Loskorn Trail. This hits Nature Loops Trail and this will take us back to the beginning. \nThis is a beautiful hike with expansive views. It is a nice and remote hike\, so you are really out there in the wilderness. \nIf you have any questions regarding the park or the trails we will be on\, please let me know! \nHere is a link to the park map: http://ocparks.com/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=8164 \nThe address is: 33401 Ortega Hwy. San Juan Capistrano\, CA 92675 \nDogs are not allowed at this park. \nParking is $5\, unless you have an OC Parks Annual Permit. If you hike a lot\, it’s totally worth it: http://ocparks.com/about/fees/pass You can buy the pass at the park.

SUMMARY:Labor Day Hike at Caspers Wilderness Park - Bell Canyon + Oso Trail & In-n-Out
DESCRIPTION:The hike I am planning is around 6.3 miles with about 700 ft. of elevation gain. SUMMARY:The Narrows Hike at Zion National Park
DESCRIPTION:Day Hike from the Bottom and Back\nShuttle Stop to Start from: #9 Temple of Sinawava\nTrailhead Location: Adjacent to shuttle stop and restrooms.\nPets: Not allowed\nDistance (roundtrip): 9.4 mi / 15.1 km maximum\nElevation Change: 334 ft / 102 m\nEstimated Hiking Time: 1-8 hours\nPermits: Permits are not required for this hike. \nThe Virgin River Narrows (via Riverside Walk) is a popular hike that begins at the Temple of Sinawava. At least 60% of the hike is spent wading\, walking\, and sometimes swimming in the river. Travel is rough and slippery in cold\, fast flowing water\, on top of slippery rocks. High water levels can prevent access sometimes. Use appropriate equipment and clothing to help protect you. Before your hike\, always check the weather and flash flood potential. This hike is not recommended if there is a chance of rain in the forecast. Flash floods are deadly. \nThe Narrows is about the journey\, not the destination. There is no one “viewpoint” or extra spectacular spot. The entire hike is beautiful\, so hike for a few minutes\, or a few hours\, then turn around and return the way you came. Hiking as far as Big Spring is allowed without a permit\, which is 9.4 miles\, round trip. \nWe will meet at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center (Shuttle Stop 1) at 5:30 AM. The first shuttle departs at 6:00 AM. The goal is to be on the first shuttle of the day. The shuttle is the only method of transportation to the trail head. Shuttles take about 45 minutes to drive between the Zion Canyon Visitor Center and the Temple of Sinawava. \nThis hike will primarily be in the Virgin River so be prepared to have your feet wet for the majority of the hike. The water temperature from last September was in the range of low 60°’s to the low 70°’s Fahrenheit. A pair of neoprene socks is probably a good idea considering the duration of time we will spend in the water. A walking stick or trekking poles are also highly recommended. The interior of the canyon can be cooler than the rest of the park\, bringing layers of clothing is a good idea. \nNeoprene Socks\nA NPS guide to conditions and safety can be found here.\nhttps://www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/narrowssafety.htm \nSunday Hike\nWe will enter the lottery for an Angels Landing permit. If successful we will hike Angels Landing on Sunday\, if no permit is acquired\, we can hike one of the Emerald Pools trails. \nHere are some hotels that are close to the park and seem to be a decent price and good reviews. This is by no means a comprehensive list of available hotels.\nZion Canyon Lodge\nhttps://zioncl.com/\nPioneer Lodge\nhttps://zionpioneerlodgespringdale.bhotel.top/ \n14 miles from Park better pricing.\nHoliday Inn La Verkin – Zion Park\nhttps://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotels/us/en/la-verkin/lavut/hoteldetail?fromRedirect=true&qSrt=sBR&qDest=Holiday%20Inn%20La%20Verkin%20-%20Zion%20Park&qErm=false&qSlH=LAVUT&qRms=1&qAdlt=1&qChld=0&qCiD=13&qCiMy=082024&qCoD=15&qCoMy=082024&qAAR=6CBARC&qRtP=6CBARC&setPMCookies=true&qSHBrC=HI&qpMbw=0&qpMn=0&srb_u=1&qChAge=&qRmFltr=

SUMMARY:Hike to Black Star Canyon Falls - Santa Ana Mountains
DESCRIPTION:I love this hike and everyone seems to have a good time\, so let’s do it again! There should be a good amount of water\, so you will get wet. \nThe hike will be 8-8.5 miles with 940 ft. of elevation gain. The hike starts on an asphalt road\, but once we turn to the creek path\, which is about 2 miles in\, there will be some water crossings\, and rock/boulder climbing. This hike is quite the adventure\, so please be prepared to get wet\, try to avoid poison oak (it is everywhere\, so wear long pants/long sleeves)\, and use upper and lower body strength. At the end\, there is a waterfall which is awesome! All of the fun is in getting there though. \nThere is lots of poison oak! Wear long pants and long sleeves. \nBring plenty of water\, sunscreen\, snacks\, hiking boots\, poles\, a hat\, and whatever else you may need for this adventure! \nGoogle Maps Link to Parking Lot: \nhttps://www.google.com/maps/place/Black+Star+Canyon+Trailhead\,+13333+Black+Star+Canyon+Rd\,+Silverado\,+CA+92676/@33.781162\,-117.6666171\,13z/data=!4m5!1m2!2m1!1sblack+star+canyon+parking!3m1!1s0x80dcc470101ee521:0x8056e04d343ea8a0 \nPlease ask any questions you may have before the hike. \nFYI: There are no bathrooms at the trailhead.
