SUMMARY:Father's Day Hike at Caspers Wilderness Park - Bell Canyon + Oso Trail
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for this fun Father’s Day Hike! Bring your family. 🙂 \nThe hike I am planning is around 6.3 miles with about 700 ft. of elevation gain. It starts at the very end of the paved road\, the long gray strip that can be seen on the map. \nWe will begin at the Bell Canyon Trail head. We will continue onto that and then take it to the Cougar Pass trail. We will go up that and make a left on Oso Trail. Once that ends\, we will come back down Bell Canyon Trail until we hit Star Ridge Trail. We will take this to West Ridge Trail and go left. This will take us to a single track trail\, Dick Loskorn Trail. This hits Nature Loops Trail and this will take us back to the beginning. \nThis is a beautiful hike with expansive views. It is a nice and remote hike\, so you are really out there in the wilderness. \nIf you have any questions regarding the park or the trails we will be on\, please let me know! \nHere is a link to the park map: http://ocparks.com/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=8164 \nThe address is: 33401 Ortega Hwy. San Juan Capistrano\, CA 92675 \nDogs are not allowed at this park. \nParking is $5\, unless you have an OC Parks Annual Permit. If you hike a lot\, it’s totally worth it: http://ocparks.com/about/fees/pass You can buy the pass at the park.

SUMMARY:Small But Mighty: Bats of Irvine Park - Must Register on Letsgooutside.org
DESCRIPTION:Note: The event starts at 7:30\, but you want to get there early to get to the Nature Center\, park\, etc. so I put 7:10. \n**You must also register here: https://letsgooutside.org/activities/2023/07/23/small-but-mighty-bats-of-irvine-park-4/ \nMap: Nature Center – Irvine Regional Park\nhttps://maps.app.goo.gl/wBLXnRyaqAaBoGuc7 \nAfter the sun has set\, the night sky fills with small but mighty flying bats. Enjoy an evening discovering how important bats are to our ecosystems and how they help us stay bug-bite free! The program begins with an informal introduction to bats at your own leisure. Then\, breaking into groups\, we will walk around the lake and park to search for these nighttime flyers as they race around catching their dinner. Bat detectors will help to identify and hear their high frequency calls. \nDress warmly in layers as we stroll about a half mile around the lake. Program is free though there is a Park Entrance Fee per entry vehicle. For questions\, please contact Resource Specialist\, Kelley.Brugmann@ocparks.com at 714-973-6625.

SUMMARY:Hike at Caspers Wilderness Park - Bell Canyon + Oso Trail
DESCRIPTION:Let’s start early and beat the heat! \nThe hike I am planning is around 6.3 miles with about 700 ft. of elevation gain.

SUMMARY:Hike at Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park - Borrego Trail & Billy Goat Trail
DESCRIPTION:This will be the first day these trails we be reopened after being closed for a month and a half for trail maintenance. Come join us! \nThe total mileage for this hike is 5 miles with about 800 ft. of elevation gain. \nWe will start at the trail head of the Borrego Trail\, which is right off of the parking lot. This is where we will meet. We will head up the Borrego Trail until we get to Mustard Road. Here we will turn right. Then we will get onto the Billy Goat Trail. Once that ends\, we will turn right to go on Whiting Spur Road. When we get down to Four Corners\, we will head back on Mustard Road to Borrego Canyon. From Borrego Trail\, we will take this back to the parking lot. \nThis is a moderate hike in general\, but the Billy Goat Trail does pose some difficulty due to it being a bit more narrow and rocky. \nHere is a link to the park map: http://ocparks.com/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=15841 \nThe trail head we will be going on is off of the parking lot on Portola in between Alton Pkwy. and Bake Pkwy.
