SUMMARY:Hike to The Bridge To Nowhere - East Fork San Gabriel River - Azusa
DESCRIPTION:We had so much fun last time\, we are going to do it again. \nThis is one of my favorite hikes around! Come join us for a super fun adventure. Prepare to get wet! We cross the San Gabriel River multiple times. (The water will be knee height or lower.) \nThe hike is going to be going to the Bridge to Nowhere in Azusa\, CA. This is located in the San Gabriel Mountains. This hike is an out and back that should be roughly 10 miles with about 1\,300 ft. of elevation change. \nOther things that would be great to have: lots of water\, layers (there’s a lot of shade in the beginning)\, sunscreen\, a hat\, snacks/food\, great hiking boots\, hiking poles…. \nIt shouldn’t be near as hot the day we are doing this. \nHere is a link to the trail head from Google Maps: https://www.google.com/maps/place/34%C2%B014’13.3%22N+117%C2%B045’54.2%22W/@34.237034\,-117.7672567\,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d34.237034!4d-117.765068 \nFor parking\, this hike requires an Adventure Pass. You can purchase a day pass for $5 or an annual pass for $30. Here is a link of where you can purchase either the day/annual pass (please purchase beforehand\, as you cannot purchase in the parking lot): http://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/r5/passes-permits/recreation/?cid=stelprdb5181410&width=full \nPlease ask any questions you may have before the hike.

SUMMARY:Hike the Michael D. Antonovich Trail - Walnut Creek Park
DESCRIPTION:This hike was recommended by Robin! I’m excited to explore a new trail. \nThis is an out and back hike in Walnut Creek Community Regional Park in San Dimas. The total mileage for the hike will be 6 miles with about 420 ft. of elevation gain. \nIt should be a nice easy hike to complete before it gets too hot. I’ve heard there’s a lot of shade\, which is nice! \nIt would be good to have plenty of water\, a snack\, a hat\, sunscreen\, hiking shoes\, etc… \nLink to Google Maps:\nhttps://www.google.com/maps/place/Mountain+top/@34.0909853\,-117.8204978\,145m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x80c32f8a4090c6f9:0x28b608f4ba00afd2!8m2!3d34.0911241!4d-117.8203896!5m1!1e4 \nAll Trails:\nhttps://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/california/michael-d-antonovich-trail–3?mobileMap=false&ref=sidebar-static-map \nParking is free in the lot.

SUMMARY:Hike at Caspers Wilderness Park - Bell Canyon + Oso Trail
DESCRIPTION:The hike I am planning is around 6.3 miles with about 700 ft. of elevation gain. It starts at the very end of the paved road\, the long gray strip that can be seen on the map. \nWe will begin at the Bell Canyon Trail head. We will continue onto that and then take it to the Cougar Pass trail. We will go up that and make a left on Oso Trail. Once that ends\, we will come back down Bell Canyon Trail until we hit Star Ridge Trail. We will take this to West Ridge Trail and go left. This will take us to a single track trail\, Dick Loskorn Trail. This hits Nature Loops Trail and this will take us back to the beginning. \nThis is a beautiful hike with expansive views. It is a nice and remote hike\, so you are really out there in the wilderness. \nIf you have any questions regarding the park or the trails we will be on\, please let me know! \nHere is a link to the park map: http://ocparks.com/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=8164 \nThe address is: 33401 Ortega Hwy. San Juan Capistrano\, CA 92675 \nDogs are not allowed at this park. \nParking is $5\, unless you have an OC Parks Annual Permit. If you hike a lot\, it’s totally worth it: http://ocparks.com/about/fees/pass You can buy the pass at the park.

SUMMARY:Hike to the Hollywood Sign/Bronson Caves - Mt. Lee Summit
DESCRIPTION:I’m very excited to plan another hike up to the Hollywood Sign and the Bronson Caves. \nThis will take us to the summit of Mt. Lee where we will get the best views of the Hollywood Sign. The total mileage for our journey will be approximately 7 miles. Our elevation change should be about 1\,200 ft. \nWe will meet at the end of Canyon Drive which is where we will park. There will be parking options right at the address listed\, on the left\, and also right before that lot on a dirt patch. \nWe will be on Canyon Drive to start on up the canyon. Once we hit Mulholland Trail we will head left and this will take us to views of the front of the Hollywood Sign. After this we’ll go a short ways up the spiral road up to the summit of Mt. Lee. Once we’ve reach the top\, we’ll head back down to where we started. Once we get to the end\, we’ll go on a slight detour to the Bronson Caves. This is the Batcave from Batman. How cool is that?! \nBring lots of water\, sunscreen\, snacks/food\, jacket\, and anything else you think you’ll need. \nHere is the address (this will take you to the parking lot): 2974 Canyon Drive\, Los Angeles\, CA 90068 \nDogs are allowed on this hike. \nThere is a bathroom in the parking lot. \nPlease ask any questions you may have.

SUMMARY:Wilderness Access Day - Black Star Canyon
DESCRIPTION:Let’s enjoy another Open Access Day! This is where we get to explore trails that are normally closed off to the public. The plan is to a loop that’s 3.5 to 4 miles with around 550 ft. of elevation gain. Since this is shorter\, the plan is to take our time and explore. \nYou don’t have to register on the LetsGoOutside site\, but here is the link for more info: https://letsgooutside.org/activities/2022/11/05/wilderness-access-day-black-star-canyon-50/ \nBlack Star Canyon\, part of OCParks’ Irvine Ranch Open Space\, offers pleasant introductory trails for beginner hikers and families as well as challenging experiences for seasoned trail users. Designated trails are available for self-guided hiking\, biking and equestrian use. A variety of trail loops offer extended exploration throughout the canyons. Take time to explore the local plant communities and beautiful scenery in easy 30-minute walks or take in 7+ miles in a strong cardio trek. \nPre-registration is not required for this event\, though it is available on the website. If you need driving directions\, use the online registration to receive a map and instructions for getting to the Baker Canyon Staging Area. Parking is limited on Black Star Canyon Road and carpooling is strongly recommended. You will not be required to sign-in upon arrival\, though an information booth with trail maps and suggested routes will be available in the staging area. \nPlease note that you are asked to adhere to the following measures during the activity in order to participate: \n\nArrive with all necessary equipment to keep you safe on the trail\, including water\, proper attire\, and footwear\, first aid\, medications\, etc.\nRestrooms will be available\, but facilities will not be sanitized for each individual.\nYou may be prevented from participating if you do not adhere to the above protocols.\n\nAdditionally\, in an effort to respect and protect all employees\, volunteers\, and participants\, please do not sign up or attend if you are not feeling well\, exhibiting any symptoms of illness or have been in recent contact with someone who was ill.\nParticipants are required to stay on designated trails at all times. In addition to being a rare and sensitive habit\, the Irvine Ranch Open Space is under strict protection. There are often unseen dangers just off-trail including\, but not limited to: mountain lions\, poison oak\, ticks\, poisonous spiders\, and venomous snakes. OC Parks Rangers may issue citations for visitors found off-trail so for your safety\, please stay on the designated paths during your stay in Black Star Canyon. To learn more about the staging areas and activity locations\, please visit our Staging Areas Playlist page.\nOther Important Notes: \n\nOC Park Rangers require all trails to be cleared for closure by 2:00pm.\nNo new trail users will be permitted onto the trails at least one hour prior to closing.\nDogs are prohibited on the Irvine Ranch Open Space. No matter how cute yours may be\, by nature\, dogs are predators; their presence and their lingering scent disturb the indigenous wildlife and disrupt vital routines long after a dog has left the area.\nMinors\, ages 18 and under\, should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.\nAdult mountain bikers and equestrians are requested to wear helmets. Minors are required to wear helmets per state law.\nIf you are an equestrian\, there is a separate registration designated for you found at www.LetsGoOutside.org/activities and click under “Wilderness Access Day – Equestrians.” Once registered\, please email info@irconservancy.org at least 72 hours prior to the event so that we may verify whether your trailer can be accommodated in our parking configuration. Trailer parking is very limited and is subject to “first come\, first served.”\nInclement weather or fire danger will cause the program to be cancelled.
