SUMMARY:"MONDAY NIGHT BRISK" 7 Mile Loop -Griffith Park Lot 2 to Mount Hollywood
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE 10 MINUTE GRACE PERIOD.This is a three hour hike at a “brisk” pace \nTime – Meet at 6:30 p.m.\, leave at 6:40 p.m.Distance – 7.0 milesElevation gain – approx 1500 ft.Difficulty – INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED. No beginners! Please be prepared for a fast paced hike with minimal stops. Please no recent injuries! This hike is intended as a decent workout as well as enjoyment of the scenery. A mixture of fire roads and single track trails up\, all fire roads down. There is one very steep trail at the final ascent to Mount Hollywood with a length of .2 miles. \nStarting at Parking Lot 2\, we take the Fern Canyon Trail to 5 points\, then ascend to the Helipad. From there we turn left down the Riverside Trail to the Greek Theater\, turning right past the bird sanctuary to Mt. Hollywood. After a brief stop there enjoying the city panorama and snapping a group photo\, we return to lot 2 via the North and Bill Eckert trails. \nSuggested to bring– Headlamp – bring white light if you need\, but please dim it and don’t point it in anyone’s eyes.– Good shoes\, trail runners may be best for this one.– Plenty of water
