Park at the Mt. Pinos Nordic Center. We will be camping at the Chula Vista Campground right there behind the building\, past the gate\, to the meadow on the left. Google Maps works for both. \nIt’s first come first served campground & FREE\, so EASY!

Saturday\, we will start at the Pinos’ Nordic parking lot\, where we are camping.\n
Sunday\, we will start at the bottom of McGill trail on the road.\n

DESCRIPTION:Kern Gateway Trail Hike\nThe hills are green! Join us to learn more about the Kern Gateway Trail and to see for yourself what a beautiful and unique outdoor amenity it will create for the Kern County / San Joaquin Valley region. RSVP to get your name on the list. \nThis site visit will include a talk from community members working towards creating the trail. There will also be a short walk to see a portion of the trail and get exposure to its dramatic beauty. \nPlease bring outdoor/hiking trail shoes\, water\, a hat\, sunscreen\, and clothing appropriate for the weather. The trail begins with a short but steep climb. If you plan on hiking with us after the presentation\, bring hiking poles\, trail shoes with good tread\, water\, snacks\, and sunscreen. \nFor Bakersfield carpoolers\, meet at the Shell gas station on HWY 178 and Commanche by 8:15.
