DESCRIPTION:Nice and easy hike\, if you are thinking about hiking and want to try something easy this is the hike for you! We will hike out to the waterfall area and see if there is any water in the waterfall. Chances are not likely but we shall see\, there might even be some cool rocks! \nHike: Meet at 8:00 AM to head up the trail at 8:15 AM (details below) \nDISTANCE: 5.34 miles Total\, Out and Back style (i.e. the same way) to the waterfalls \nGAIN: 587′ \nRATING: Beginner + (This is an easy hike\, you might get your feet wet and there will be some scrambling) \nDURATION: (Approx.): ~ 3 hours total \nDirections: From Santa Clarita\, take the I-5 freeway to the SR-14 freeway north. Exit Placerita Canyon\, turn right. In a few miles\, you will see the entrance to Placerita Natural area on your right. \n**MEET YOUR LEADER: GPS (**34.377210\, -118.468877)\nAt 8:00 A.M at the south end of the parking lot next to the new bathroom construction area next to the bridge that crosses the creek into the nature area. We will leave at 8:15 sharp. \nBRING:\nSnacks to eat if needed and water\, change of shoes for after the hike. \nWEAR:\nHiking boots (waterproof if you have them) or shoes with good tread; layered clothing and hiking poles if you have them. DESCRIPTION:Jackson Lake to Jackson Flats \nDESCRIPTION: We’ll meet at scenic Jackson Lake early in an attempt to minimize the heat and crowds as usual. The Jackson Flat Trail forks left at the Boy Scout trail junction\, and climbs up moderately to the top of the ridge and the PCT trail junction at 7400 ft. From here we’ll take the fire road into Jackson Flat Campground. Once here\, a short footpath takes you to an observation tower with 360 views – so bring your cameras! DESCRIPTION:Liebre Mountain via PCT (Replaces Jackson Lake hike due to Bridge Fire) \nDESCRIPTION: The Bridge fire continues to expand so the road to Lake Jackson is closed as it leads into an evacuation zone (which of course we don’t want to enter). Relatively cooler weather should allow us to enjoy the PCT section up to Liebre Mountain. The forecast is mainly sunny. High 83F. Winds SW at 10 to 20 mph (which should help with air quality). \nThe trail is flattish and parallels the road for about one mile before it turns up the hill. There is not a lot of shade\, in the first part of this hike\, but we will be on the uphill section in the cooler early morning. As we climb a series of moderately graded PCT switchbacks we enjoy nice views of the Antelope Valley NE. After a few miles we take a short break at shady Horse Camp before continuing up through a more wooded area (oaks and pines)\, eventually reaching the ridge at ~5700′. Location and more details will be confirmed after RSVP Closes. \nThis is a 10 mile out-and-back trail on the northern slope of the Sespe River Valle. Generally considered a moderately challenging route\, it takes an average of 6 to 7 hours to complete.
