SUMMARY:Mission Point via Weldon Canyon
DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION: I discovered this is an old club favorite after looking through the last five years of hikes. It’s an out-and-back trail that is popular for birding\, hiking\, biking and running\, but should not be too busy during our trek (I hope). Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. It also happens I recently hiked the trail with friends and so happen to know it’s in good shape\, has some excellent back country and summit views. \nHike leader volunteers: Tim R. \nMeet: Weldon Canyon Motorway Trailhead at 8:00am\, departure at 8:15 am sharp (Feb 3). \nDistance: Approximately 9.3 miles. \nElevation gain: Approximately 1\,587 feet. \nTime: Approximately 5 hours hiking (at a brisk pace) including one snack break. \nConditioning: You need to be in generally good physical condition (this is not a beginner hike). \nDogs: Must be on leash. \nRestrooms – None. \nAdventure Pass: Not required. \nWARNINGS: \n\nNo stream crossings.\n\nESSENTIAL GEAR:\n· Hiking shoes/boots/poles.\n· Layers recommended.
