SUMMARY:COLORADO: Raft Ruby/Horsetheif Canyon to UTAH
DESCRIPTION:Bucket list trip! \nThis is not a hiking or backpacking trip.\nThis is an overnight rafting trip on the Colorado River.\nPermits for this trip are released two months in advance. Looking to coordinate with boaters from past trips to better suit the availability of those who have been looking forward to rafting and to increase our chances of winning. \n🛶 Please add yourself to the waitlist to indicate interest. This trip will prioritize those that came along for SDB kayak camping in Horseshoe Bend and/or Black Canyon.\n🛶 If there is still space\, others may be added based on relevant experience and history of attendance with SDB. \n***\nWHERE: Colorado River from CO to UT\nRATING: Class II\nCFS RANGE: 1\,000-30\,000 (Our target is 5\,000 CFS and below)\nLENGTH: 4 days (25.1 river miles)\nTARGET TIMEFRAME: Early September (High 80+/Low 70)\nBOATS: Can SUP\, kayak\, canoe\, or enjoy shared raft rentals \n* Hoping for September\, although June is a great time to consider as well. Looking for feedback from the paddle fam. Spring run-off lasts from mid May to late June meaning high water on the Colorado which is great for rafting\, but not appropriate for small vessels. \n〰️ 14′ rafts starting at $95 per day to be split by raft crew (crew of 3-5). \nRequired Gear:\nPFD\nWhistle\nRescue Rope\nWe must rent a hard-sided toilet system(s)\, enough to accommodate entire crew. Wag bags alone are not permitted.\nWe must bring a fire pan for our campfires.\n1 spare paddle for every 3 low capacity vessels including kayaks or SUPs. \nItinerary Sample:\n📅 Day 0\n〰️ Stage shuttle near take-out at Westwater in Utah.\n〰️ Stay near put-in in Loma\, CO or Grand Junction\, CO.\n📅 Day 1\n〰️ Launch rentals from Loma.\n〰️ Paddle approximately 3.25 river miles to Rattlesnake Camp.\n〰️ Hike Rattlesnake Canyon\, 3.9 mile RT\, +908′\n📅 Day 2\n〰️ Paddle 6.9 river miles to see “Old Cabin”.\n〰️ Paddle 3.6 river miles to Mee Canyon Camp.\n📅 Day 3\n〰️ Hike Mee Canyon\, 5.2 miles RT\, +1\,459′\n〰️ Paddle 1.6 river miles to Dog Island Camp or 2 river miles to Black Rocks Camps.\n📅 Day 4\n〰️ Take on Black Rock Rapids\n〰️ Paddle 2.2 river miles to view a pictograph panel in a side canyon.\n〰️ Paddle 6.5 miles to take-out.\n〰️ Shuttle back to Loma\, CO. \n***\nAs always… \nYou must be able to manage yourself and your transportation. This trip has minimal guidance. It may be possible to plan ridesharing by communicating with other attendees. \nAs this trip is out of state\, communication is critical. There is sporadic phone service or no service. Therefore\, if something comes up\, you must communicate with the group as early as possible. \n\nMore information to be provided later.\nBearfoot Theory’s trip blog.\nRoad Trip Ryan’s blog.\nRaft Rentals from Rimrock Adventures \n\nEach participant in this paddle trip must realize that they are ultimately responsible for their own safety and navigation while engaging in this activity. \nDISCLAIMER: Enter the river at your own risk. Be responsible for yourself and your safety. Make good decisions. With any trip\, things can change\, reservations can get lost\, the unexpected can happen. A go-with-the-flow attitude is always a good thing\, and most importantly\, let’s all have fun! Make sure you are in good enough physical shape for the distance\, elevation changes\, and terrain. The leaders in this group aren’t professional river guides. By signing up for these events\, you agree not to hold the Meetup organizers responsible for whatever happens to you on these events. The hiking group does not certify the expertise of the organizers\, the event or assistant organizers (hike leaders) and…We are NOT responsible for any possible losses or injuries.

SUMMARY:Gardiner Basin Loop with Rae Lakes
DESCRIPTION:Gardiner Basin Loop with Rae Lakes. I am posting this trip to gauge interest from the club\, please add your name to the waiting list if you want to join. I will update once permits are in hand in mid-February. If you are willing to be alternate trip leader on the backcountry permit please let me know. \nTHIS IS NOT A BEGINNER TRIP. This trip passes through some of the most beautiful parts of the Sierras including Rae Lakes. It is also high altitude\, starting at Onion Valley (9200) and going up from there. We will cross 5 high passes (Kearsarge (11\,800)\, Gardiner (11\,200)\, Sixty Lakes Col (11\,700)\, Glen Pass (11\,900)\, and then Kearsarge again) over 5-6 days. Sixty Lakes Col is a class 2 scramble. Daily mileage is around 10 miles per day. Bear barrels are required. \nRoute details via CalTopo https://caltopo.com/m/072PR . The majority of the trip is an off-the-maintained-trail-system loop requiring navigational skills. Bring a compass and a map. Although rugged\, this trip will be conducted at a relaxed pace with no more than 12 miles per day. Your trip leader likes to stop\, breathe\, take pictures\, and enjoy being in the wilderness. \nCarpooling from San Diego to the trailhead will be arranged once the attendees have been finalized. \nItinerary: \nSaturday August 16th- drive to Onion Valley (approximately 7 hours drive from San Diego)\, car camp at or near trailhead\nSunday Aug 17th – Enter wilderness via Onion Valley Trailhead\, over Kearsarge Pass to Charlotte Lake. From start at Onion Valley (9200′) over Kearsarge pass (11\,800) 8.3 miles\, elevation gain/loss 2745/1539\nMonday Aug 18th – Over Gardiner pass into Gardiner basin\, camp in the basin. From start at Charlotte Lake (10400′) over Gardiner pass (11\,262) and descend to Gardiner Creek (8900) 6.6 miles\, elevation gain/loss 1757/3122. Should have time to explore Gardiner Basin after setting camp.\nTuesday Aug 19th – From Gardiner creek (8900) follow the creek upstream to lake 11407\, then over Sixty Lakes Col (11\,732) and descend into Sixty Lakes Basin to camp there. 6.8 miles\, elevation gain/loss 2800/1270. Short mileage as the climb over the col may be challenging.\nWednesday Aug 20th – From Sixty Lakes Basin (10630) over Arrowhead Gap (also noted as basin notch on some maps) to rejoin PCT north of Rae lakes at Arrowhead lake\, proceed south through Rae lakes and over Glen Pass (11991) to camp at Kearsarge Lakes. 10.7 miles\, elevation gain/loss 2672/2304\nThursday Aug 21st – Back to Onion Valley Trailhead. 5.7 mi\, over Kearsarge pass (11818) and down to parking lot (9200). Should get back in time to drive back to San Diego. \nDisclaimer: You are responsible for yourself and your safety. The trip leader is not a professional guide. You are responsible for making good decisions. Be prepared for the terrain\, weather\, distance\, and elevation. As with any trip\, the unexpected can happen including inclement weather. A go with the flow attitude is always a good thing.\nBy signing up for these events\, you agree not to hold the organizers responsible for whatever happens to you on the trip. The hiking group does not certify the expertise of the organizers or trip leaders. We are NOT responsible for any possible losses or injuries.

SUMMARY:ARIZONA: Havasupai (~50 Miles RT+)
DESCRIPTION:Bucket list trip! \nIt’s finally time to cross off Havasupai! This is not a beginner trip. We will be moving at an advanced pace. To attend this event\, you and I must have previous trip history together\, no exceptions. Feel free to contact me! \nPlease add yourself to the wait-list to indicate interest. \nThese dates are tentative pending permits\, but this is the time-frame I’m targeting. Flexibility is required. It will be warmer\, but we will maximize the opportunity to swim and enjoy the water. We will utilize cooler hours for most foot-travel. \nYou must be able to manage yourself and your transportation. This trip has minimal guidance involving anything off-trail. It may be possible to plan ridesharing by communicating with other attendees. \nThe trip leader will not be traveling back to California after this event and is unable to facilitate rideshares. \nAs this trip is out of state\, communication is critical. If you are attending but have not connected with the group in Flagstaff prior to trail start\, you will be left behind. There is sporadic phone service or no service\, therefore if something comes up\, you must communicate with the group as early as possible. \n\nTotal roundtrip distance: ~50 miles+ \nMore information to come. \nDISCLAIMER: Anything to do with any part of this trip (including hiking\, swimming\, and kayaking) are done at your own risk. Be responsible for yourself and your safety. Make good decisions. With any trip\, things can change\, reservations can get lost\, the unexpected can happen.
