The trail is great for hiking and normally takes 2-3 hours. You start off on the rough jeep trail down to a wash where you have the option to traverse through a slot canyon. Once to the mine area\, you can explore various rock formations and hike up to the tiptop for a fantastic view of the Salton Sea and the surrounding badlands. On the way back\, start out on the jeep track again and then venture the other way down the narrow canyon to meet back up with the original trail. This hike has a bit of everything! More Info>>https://www.hikespeak.com/trails/calcite-mine-trail-anza-borrego-desert \nSlot of Anza Borrego\nSimply named The Slot\, this narrow siltstone canyon provides one of the most exciting hikes in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. This 0.8-mike trek is capped off with a passage beneath a gravity-defying rock span. This short hike has just 100 feet of elevation loss\, but the memory will be much more profound.\nMore Info>> https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/the-slot \nhttps://californiathroughmylens.com/slot-canyon-anza-borrego-state-park \nWe will meet up in Borrego Springs at Christmas Circle rest stop\, last place for restrooms. 730 Christmas Circle Borrego Springs\, CA 92004 at 7:45 \nThen we will all caravan to the campsite. \nSaturday Morning we will set-up camp half mile off the road near the Truckhaven Jeep Trail\, 19 miles east of Borrego Springs. After setting up our tents we’ll take hike up to the Calcite Mines via the slots. \nThe hike should be around 6-8 miles with +/-500′ elevation gain loss.\nWe will be doing a little rock scrambling. \nWe can decide if we want to do Slot Canyons of Anza in the afternoon or Sunday Morning. \nSORRY NO PETS \nEquipment: \n• Hiking boots or trail hikers \n• Day pack for day hike \n• Layered clothing for a cool night and potentially warm day \n• Tent \n• Sleeping bag and pad \n• Cooking gear\, cup\, utensils \n• Ten essentials; map\, compass\, light\, extra food & water\, extra clothing\, fire starter\, knife\, \n• first aid kit\, sun protection & toilet paper \n• Chair \n• Anything that will make you comfortable. \nFood: \nBring the kitchen\, this will be a car camp. \nWe will have a bonfire\, so if anyone has wood…bring it. \n\nDISCLAIMER: Hike at your own risk. SUMMARY:Collins Valley Anza Borrego Overnight
DESCRIPTION:The road to Collins Valley washed out during the hurricane and is still closed to vehicles so this is a great opportunity to do an easy trip. There should still be plenty of flowers. I drove to the closed gate in October and a Subaru could easily make it\, not sure about a regular vehicle.\nLocation: End of open road \nRight now weather looks great. If it gets too hot I will cancel the trip.\nWeather \nFriday night: I’m going to camp out close to closed gate. \nSaturday:\nHike to Sheep Canyon Primitive campground 4mi 600ft Track\nThere was water in the lower part of Sheep Canyon in October. I am confident there is still water there. There has also been water in Indian Canyon every time I’ve been there.\nIn the afternoon explore Sheep Canyon (optional). See photos of Jerry Schad’s trip description. \nSunday:\nMaybe check out Cougar Canyon. Hike out. \nDISCLAIMER: Hike at your own risk. Be responsible for yourself and your safety. Make good decisions. With any trip\, things can change\, reservations can get lost\, the unexpected can happen. A go-with-the-flow attitude is always a good thing\, and most importantly\, let’s all have fun! This is an easy hike.
