SUMMARY:Hike from Corbin and Beyond
DESCRIPTION:Come join me Veterans Day November 11\, for an afternoon hike. I have the day off and thought I would start the hike at 3pm\, I hope you can join me!I was recently introduced to a new starting place for the Limekin trail. It is on Corbin Ave\, just before the YMCA\, if you get to the YMCA you have gone too far. \nWe will go up the trail\, then cross Tampa and continue on another trail\, I do not recall name but it makes it a round trip 7 mile hike. I recently hiked this trail with another meet up group and caught a beautiful sunset\, not to mention we had a good workout too! \nDistance: 7 milesElevation Gain: 1000′Difficulty: Intermediate due to pace and distance\, not for beginners.Dogs: If your well trained dog can go at fast pace you can bring it.Restrooms: NoWater Fountain: NoParking: Free parking on Corbin Ave on either side of trailTrail: Out and back. Paved road and dirt\, uneven surfacesSunset: 4:52pmWeather: It might be warm\, am hoping for fall weather. Temps above 85 at start time and high winds will cancel hike. \nKnown Dangers: Rattlesnakes\, slip-‘n-fall\, poison oak all can be encountered on this hike \nBring: a headlamp or have a charged phone and use that. We may only need the light at the end. You may also want to bring a personal snack for when we take a short break halfway through at the turnaround point.Sunscreen or hat if you sunburn easily since we are starting at 3pm.LOTS of H20 I recommend 2-3 liters\, since it may be hot and we are going fast. \nCOVID-19 DISCLAIMER / RULESPlease follow the guidelines under the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). https://covid19.ca.gov/COVID information for Ventura and LA counties:• https://www.venturacountyrecovers.org/• http://www.publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/ \nYour participation means you agree with the observance of mandated COVID-19 safety measures and you agree to follow these rules: \n• Each participant will observe social distancing of 6 ft. among ourselves.• It is required to carry a mask and wear it through the duration of the hike. SUMMARY:Hump Day Hike: Angel Vista via the Rosewood Trail
DESCRIPTION:Hi All\, \nJust a heads up: Barring extenuating circumstances\, if you sign up and don’t show up\, or change your rsvp to “not going” less than 4 hours before the start of the hike more than once\, you will not be welcome to hike with me again. It’s not fair to those on the waiting list. Please and thank you for being considerate! \nThis is a great weeknight hike\, not too hard nor too easy – I would say it’s “Just Right”! Although considered intermediate and not a true beginner’s hike\, the gain is spread out evenly on switchbacks over the whole climb which makes it fall on the easier end of the intermediate scale (while still being a good workout). There is a great view and picnic table at the top which makes it perfect place to do a little social distancing during these crazy times! \nThere is a fairly large area at the top\, so I’m hoping we can do some socializing with each other before heading down. \nIf you want to bring snacks to share\, please consider Covid and bring individually wrapped items\, so people aren’t dipping into the same bags or containers. \nWe will definitely be in the dark\, so remember your head lamps! It can be slippery on the downhill\, so you might want to consider poles. \nDistance: 3 milesElevation Gain: 750′Difficulty: Easy side of IntermediateDogs: If leashedRestrooms: NatureWater Fountain: NoParking: Free street parkingTrail: Single track\, excellent conditionSunset: irrelevantMoon: Not much \nDirections: From the 101 take the Ventu Park exit and go South toward the ocean. At Lynn Road turn right. VERY soon you will pass an open space on your left. Watch for the entrance to Regal Oak Ct on your left\, where you will turn…um…left. Take it all the way to the end and park. This is a neighborhood\, so let’s try to be somewhat restrained. We will meet at the trailhead on the left/east side of the road. \nKnown Dangers: Rattlesnakes\, slip-‘n-fall\, poison oak\, bears\, mountain lions\, heatstroke\, rabid rabbits\, whatever. \nBring:Flashlight/headlamp\, charged and ready to go!H20Whatever you need to stay warm at the top. It is likely to be windy and chilly \nCOVID-19 DISCLAIMER / RULESPlease follow the guidelines under the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). https://covid19.ca.gov/COVID information for Ventura and LA counties:• https://www.venturacountyrecovers.org/• http://www.publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/ \nYour participation means you agree with the observance of mandated COVID-19 safety measures and you agree to follow these rules: \n• Each participant will observe social distancing of 6 ft. among ourselves.• It is required to carry a mask and wear it through the duration of the hike. SUMMARY:Oak Creek Canyon to Angel Vista
DESCRIPTION:Lets hike a longer way to Angel Vista! We will start from the Oak Creek Canyon Trail off of Moorpark Road. This is a faster paced hike (only break is at the halfway point at the Vista). To get there\, take the Moorpark Road exit and then go west until you reach the dirt lot that says Los Robles Trail (that is not where we are meeting) and then go right onto Greenmeadow all the way to the end. The free paved parking is at Greenmeadow Park. We will meet at the the Oak Creek Canyon Trailhead.Someone from another group I hike with calls this trail Space Mountain trail because there are a lot of blind curves and bikers on this trail. It is important that the group sticks together on this trail as there are a few junctions that can be confusing and cause you to take a wrong turn and end up somewhere else. For that reason I suggest if you are a beginner or slower hiker to sit this one out\, unless you are familiar with the trail. \nDistance: 7 milesElevation Gain: 1200 ft +Difficulty: Intermediate must be able to stay with groupDogs: NoRestrooms: NoWater Fountain: NoParking: Free at Greenmeadow ParkTrail: Out and backSunset: 4:51pm bring a headlamp or flashlight\, just to be safeWeather: Windy or rainy weather\, extreme heat will cancel hike \nKnown Dangers: Rattlesnakes\, slip-‘n-fall\, poison oak\, are on this trail\, kamikaze mountain bikers\, due to the blind curves \nBring: A snack if you need it\, light in case it gets too dark for you\, wear hiking shoes with good traction as some areas are slick\, poles if you preferSunscreen if you burn easily or wear a hat/sunglassesLOTS of H20 I recommend 2-3 liters \nCOVID-19 DISCLAIMER / RULESPlease follow the guidelines under the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). https://covid19.ca.gov/COVID information for Ventura and LA counties:• https://www.venturacountyrecovers.org/• http://www.publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/ \nYour participation means you agree with the observance of mandated COVID-19 safety measures and you agree to follow these rules: \n• Each participant will observe social distancing of 6 ft. among ourselves.• It is required to carry a mask and wear it through the duration of the hike.
