SUMMARY:Palo Comado Trail Weeknight hike
DESCRIPTION:Join me on a conditioning evening hike. The actual hike is called Palo Comado Shepherd’s Flat Loop on Alltrails.comThere are many intersecting trails at this trailhead of varying lengths\, so we need to stick together (I have a story about getting lost in here even after hiking it many times). In the Springtime the wildflowers are gorgeous in here. I don’t think they are blooming just yet for our hike.Distance: 6.5 milesElevation Gain: 1000+Difficulty: Intermediate due to pace we do not stop\, we may take one break halfway through but that is it.Dogs: Yes\, but must be leashed\, well mannered and able to keep paceRestrooms: NoWater Fountain: NoParking: Free Street parkingTrail: Lollypop/Loop TrailSunset: 5:52pmWeather: Rain\, Wind\, Extreme temperatures cancels hikeKnown Dangers: Rattlesnakes\, slip-‘n-fall\, poison oak\, mountain lions have been spotted on this trail.Bring: Extra layer to take on and off as needed\, Flashlight/headlamp and a snack for the short break if needed.Water maybe 2L if you sweat a lot. It is always good to bring more than you need!Have a mask to take on and off as needed out of respect to other hikers/bikers we pass on the trail and in our group during the pandemic. We need to also continue to practice social distancing ourselves to continue to prevent the spread of Covid. \nDirections: From Simi Valley take the 118\, to 23 freeway then get off at Los Arboles exit\, turn left and take to Westlake Blvd.\, Drive for a few stoplights\, miles and turn left on Kanan Rd and then Left Kanan Road\, Drive some more stoplights and left on Sunnycrest Dr. That becomes Double Tree Road\, You can also take a left on Double Tree Road as Double Tree and SunnyCrest run into each other.

Everyone who signs up will be put on a waitlist. \n2) On February 22\, go onto their website and reserve a ticket in Advance for March 6\, 1pm (I assume it won’t sell out). \n2) Once you have purchased your ticket then let me know\, by either mentioning it in the comments or messaging me through meet up. Then I will move you from the waitlist to going. \n3)As usual protocol due to Covid I prefer to keep the group to 10 people but I am flexible and also it is a public place so anyone who wants to purchase a ticket can attend as long as they have openings. \nOn the day of the event we will meet outside 30 minutes before the ticket time. Note that the Gardens follow social distancing and mask policies to prevent spread of Covid 19\, which we will follow as well. \nDirections: from Simi Valley\, take the 118E to the 210E take exit 20 for CA-2/Angeles Crest Hwy toward La Canada Flintridge\, turn right and then turn right onto Foothill Blvd\, Left on Verdugo Blvd and Left onto Descanso Dr. There should be plenty of parking but plan to arrive at 12:30 to purchase your ticket at 1pm.

SUMMARY:Sycamore Canyon Evening Hike
DESCRIPTION:Come join me for a quick-paced (2.5-3 miles per hour) evening hike. This will be the longer 9 mile version. \nWe will be on pavement or gravel most of the way\, which makes it good for nighttime! I am extending this hike an additional two miles (taking a side trail another hiking group I am in calls “Joanne’s Route”). \nThis area has a lot of No Picnicking signs throughout the park\, which means we need to keep moving and not stop for breaks or congregate. It is a reverse hike in that it goes down in the beginning and you go back up a steep hill at the end.We will hike/walk down to a campground picnic area. In non Covid times I would suggest congregating and having a restful snack there. It is across from the ranger’s house so we want to make sure to follow the rules and also not be very loud. We can stop briefly to rest or snack and then turn around and head back. \nDistance: 9 miles on Pavement and gravel roadElevation Gain: about 600 ftDifficulty: Intermediate hike due to pace and distance\, but an experienced fast paced beginner or someone willing to go the distance should be able to do it too\, please do not expect anyone to wait for you if you are slower and do not know the way.Dogs: NoRestrooms: There is an Andy Gump toilet mid hikeWater Fountain: NoParking: Free\, make sure you do not park on the street across from the trailhead or you will get a ticket. Park farther down at Potrero and Pinehill on the right then walk to the trailhead.Trail: Out and back\, pavement/fireroad this hike goes down at the beginning and up at the endSunset: 7:04 pm bring flashlight or headlampWeather: Adverse Weather conditions will cancel the hike. Come prepared with a light layer in your pack in case you get chilly from all the sweat! (I usually get chilled on the way back). \nKnown Dangers: Rattlesnakes\, poison oak\, Mosquitoes may all be encountered on this hike\, bug spray might be useful here.It is always possible to slip and fall though the road is flat wear comfortable shoes that you can wear on pavement or dirt. \nBring: Your headlamp\, a personal snack\, light layer and LOTS of H20 when it’s hot (maybe 2L or more L if you sweat a lot). \nCOVID-19 DISCLAIMER / RULESPlease follow the guidelines under the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). https://covid19.ca.gov/COVID information for Ventura and LA counties:• https://www.venturacountyrecovers.org/• http://www.publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/ \nYour participation means you agree with the observance of mandated COVID-19 safety measures and you agree to follow these rules: \n• Each participant will observe social distancing of 6 ft. among ourselves.• It is required to carry a mask and wear it through the duration of the hike.
