DESCRIPTION:Hike #8 in the 2025 Saturday in the Santa Monica Mountains series is\na 9 miles and 1500 feet elevation gain hike from the Dead Horse Trailhead to the Musch Trail to Eagle Rock then to Cathedral Rock. \nMeet 8:00 am at the Dead Horse Trailhead parking lot on Entrada Rd (PCH to Topanga Canyon Boulevard.\, north 4 miles to Entrada Roado or 7 miles south off Ventura Freeway to Entrada Road\, lot is on left side of Entrada Road). NOTE THAT TOPANGA CANYON BLVD IS NOW OPEN AT PCH BUT IS ONLY ONE WAY FOR ABOUT A HALF MILE SO GIVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF TIME. Carpooling recommended as Dead Horse is a pay parking lot. \nBring water\, snacks\, sunscreen\, and a good attitude. SUMMARY:Playa Del Rey Conditioning Walk/Urban Hike
DESCRIPTION:Come join the Sierra Club and take a midweek break and walk along the beach and nearby hills and neighborhood of Playa Del Rey and Westchester. Enjoy spectacular views of Marina Del Rey and the surrounding area. Meet new people and find out about upcoming Sierra Club outings and events. The walk is 5 miles\, 200 ft gain. \nDirections to meeting point: MEET AT THE CORNER OF RINDGE & WATERVIEW. Go West on Culver Blvd\, to Nicholson\, turn Left (Note: Nicholson turns into Pershing) and continue on Pershing to Waterview (1/2 mi)\, turn Right to top-of-the-hill\, (corner of Rindge and Waterview). Where the NW corner fence of LAX meets the homes overlooking the ocean. You can also get there from Manchester as well. Easy access to the starting point is also possible from Manchester Ave. and Vista Del Mar. Bring your laptop\, tablet\, or preferred device to follow along. \nWTC alumni likely learned some of these skills already but area welcome to join for a refresher crash course.
