SUMMARY:2023 Saturday Santa Monica Mountains Peaks #8 - Eagle Rock Valley to the Sea
DESCRIPTION:Hike #8 in the 2023 highest and most interesting peaks in the Santa Monica Mountains series is the Valley to the Sea\, a strenuous 11 mile\, 1000 gain hike from the Valley to the Sea in memory of Willy Blumhoff with a stop at the Eagle Rock (1957′)\, the outing peak. \nThis is a one-way hike with a car shuttle; it’s a variant of the one Willy took each year on his birthday. The hike will start at the Top of Reseda Trailhead\, taking the Garapito Trail\, summiting Eagle Rock\, stopping at Trippet Ranch for lunch\, and then taking the East Topanga Fire Road to Los Liones\, ending at PCH and Sunset. \nThis is a shuttle hike. Meet at 7:30 AM in the first parking lot on the right on Los Liones (PCH to Sunset Boulevard\, north 0.3 mile\, left on Los Liones) and shuttle to the Top of Reseda Trailhead. Please contact leaders with regard to shuttle requirements before coming on the hike. \nVisit the online Sierra Activities Schedule to see the rest of the monthly 2023 Saturday Peaks in the Santa Monica Mountains. The next Saturday peak will be Triunfo Peak on 9/9/2023.

The next class is November 11-12.\n· You receive 24 hours of credit for the class. This satisfies the first aid requirement for all leader candidate and leader levels for the (Los) Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club.\n· The course fee is $180\, (roughly half the fee for a two-day WFA course offered by either REI/NOLS or Wilderness Medical Assoc.)\n· The WFAC offers five excellent\, hands-on 30-minute accident simulations as part of the course.\n· In addition to being a supporting first aider in four of these\, each WFAC student is the lead rescuer in one simulation with the undivided attention of an instructor.\n· The Course fills up quickly\, so register early.
