SUMMARY:EBIKE RIDE - SOLVANG COUNTRYSIDE via two secluded tranquil roads
DESCRIPTION:Spring has arrived and a great place to enjoy it is the serene countryside outside of Solvang. There are two roads outside of Solvang that we will be taking. The first is Refugio Rd. which follows Quiota Creek and is rimmed by mature oaks as it makes its way up to eventually West Camino Cielo. The last part of this road is too steep and goes through private land\, so we won’t do this portion. The second road is Alisal Road which follows Alisal Creek past the Alisal Guest Ranch & Resort. Finally we will end up at Nojoqui Falls. Strong bikers are welcomed to join us on their regular bikes. Both roads are paved. \nMake sure you bring along a spare inner tube and have tires inflated for road riding. \nMEETUP LOCATION: Alisal Road Parking Lot at 9:00am. \nPARKING FEE: Free \nRESTROOMS: YES \nMEETUP TIME: 9:00 a.m. \nDURATION: 5 HOURS \nDISTANCE: 34 miles \nROUTE: \nELEVATION GAIN: 2800′ \nPACE: No faster than the slowest member \nTERRAIN: 26 miles of paved roads and 8 miles on a dirt road \nDEBRIEFING: Late lunch at CHOMP Burgers\, Fries\, Shakes \n1693 Mission Drive\, Solvang \nMY CELL# IS: 805-358-5972

SUMMARY:EBIKE RIDE ALONG ALISO CREEK - LAGUNA NIGUEL TO COOKS CORNER
DESCRIPTION:Details\nEBIKE RIDE ALONG ALISO CREEK – LAGUNA NIGUEL TO COOKS CORNER\n“The Aliso Creek Regional Riding and Hiking Trail is a well-maintained class 1 bikeway and soft recreational trail extending from foothills of Orange County to the boundary of Laguna Beach. The continuous fifteen miles of asphalt bikeway designed for multi-use travel through five south county cities. The soft trail mirrors the asphalt bikeway path on either side of the Aliso Creek traveling from the mountains to the sea. The ten-foot wide bikeway was originally designed in the 1970’s when the old El Toro Road was abandoned during the construction of a much larger and safer road.” NRT Database by American Trails \nI’ve been talking about doing this bike path for over a year now and now that DaveR is biking again\, it’s time to do it. \nMake sure you bring along a spare inner tube and have your tires inflated before arriving. \nMEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: 9:00 am at Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park \nPARKING FEE: $3 fee to park in park or park on street where legal outside of park \nROUTE \nDISTANCE: 34 miles. \nELEVATION GAIN: 1400′ \nLUNCH: Around 20+ miles into the ride\, we will arrive at Cook’s Corner where we will have lunch \nCOOK’S CORNER: There is bike parking next to Cook’s corner designated as mountain bike parking. You are not allowed to park at the restaurant. \nTHE PACE: No faster than the slowest in the group \nDURATION: 3+ hours \nLEVEL: Advanced Beginner E-biker or strong road biker \nTERRAIN: Most of the ride follows Aliso Creek on a paved dedicated bike path \nRESTROOMS: At Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park\, Aliso Viejo Community Park\, El Toro Park and Cook’s Corner \nMY CELL # IS: 805-358-5972

SUMMARY:EBiking through the poppy fields
DESCRIPTION:We’ll do a 20+ mile ride on the dirt roads that are next to the Antelope Valley Poppy Preserve. Right now\, this is possibly the best place to see poppies. Though I’ve only ridden on Avenue G once\, it looks like a great place to start. Hence this is also exploratory. You’ve been warned. \nThe route is a tentative route. If we see something interesting off route\, we’ll go check it out as we usually do. \nWARNINGS: It can get very very windy and very cold there. With 20 mph winds being common\, it could be extremely difficult with a regular bike. Bring layers and real gloves to be on the safe side. Also enough water as we’ll be in the desert. Plus there’s the standard dangers of poppy fields: evil witches\, flying houses and monkeys\, etc. \nMake sure you bring along a spare inner tube and have tires inflated for dirt road riding. \nMEETUP LOCATION W Ave G & Lancaster Rd\, Lancaster California\nat 10:00 am \nPARKING FEE: There is free parking along the road. We’ll be parked amongst the folks who couldn’t get into the main parking lot at the Preserve. \nRESTROOMS: NO. There are restrooms at the Poppy Preserve but that could be difficult to get to with the long entry lines. \nMEETUP TIME: 10:00 a.m. \nDURATION: 5 HOURS \nDISTANCE: 20+ miles \nROUTE: TBD \nELEVATION GAIN: ?? \nPACE: No faster than the slowest member \nTERRAIN: Really nice dirt roads. \nLUNCH: Azteca Mexican Restaurant\, 47904 90th St W Antelope Acres\, Lancaster\, CA \nMY CELL# IS: 818-307-6460

SUMMARY:EBIKE RIDE NEAR FIGUEROA MTN. TO VIEW THE WILD FLOWERS
DESCRIPTION:EBIKE RIDE NEAR FIGUEROA MTN. TO VIEW THE WILD FLOWERS AND CELEBRATE CINCO DE MAYO AFTERWARDS \nBy May 5th\, the area around Figueroa Mountain should be in full bloom since the higher elevations bloom later than the lower valleys. If not\, the views along the way will make for a great ride. Half the route will have us on a single track paved road\, while the other half will be on a dirt forest service road. If the dirt road is in bad shape\, we’ll add more single lane paved road instead.\nThe goal is to make it to a point near Zaca Peak\, but our batteries will determine just how far we go. \nMake sure you bring along a spare inner tube and have your tires inflated before arriving. \nMEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: 9:00 am at the Grass Mountain trailhead \nPARKING FEE: Requires a National Recreation Pass \nROUTE \nDISTANCE: 23 miles. \nELEVATION GAIN: 4300′ – It’s all up hill\, so we turn around once our batteries are down to 10%. \nDEBRIEFING: After the ride\, as an option\, you can join me for lunch at **Dos Carlitos Restaurant & Tequila Bar **at 3544 Sagunto St\, Santa Ynez \nTHE PACE: No faster than the slowest in the group \nDURATION: 3+ hours for ride \nLEVEL: Advanced Beginner mountain E-biker \nTERRAIN: Paved narrow road and dirt forest service road \nRESTROOMS: None \nMY CELL # IS: 805-358-5972

SUMMARY:EBIKE RIDE PAVED ROADS - CRYSTAL LAKE & HWY 39
DESCRIPTION:I’ve been wanting to travel on the upper end of Hwy 39 for years now\, hoping that it would eventually be reopened. To get to the high country of the San Gabriel Mountains\, I used to head up Hwy 39 out of Azusa to The Angeles Crest Hwy 2 at Islip Saddle. It’s been closed for 40 years now and I guess it’ll never be reopened\, so I will just have to do it on my ebike which will allow me to accomplish what I used to do in my thirties with my car.\nWe’ll meet in Crystal lake and take on Hwy 39 before coming back and checking all the roads in the campgrounds there. \nMake sure you bring along a spare inner tube. \nMEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: 9:00am at the Crystal Lake Cafe \nPARKING FEE: Adventure Pass required \nROUTE: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map/ebike-paved-crystal-lake-and-hwy-39-to-hwy-2-d35a296 \nDISTANCE: 22 miles. \nELEVATION GAIN: 3700′ – A lot of this elevation gain is in the Crystal Lake area itself and can easily be cut down if it proves to be too much. \nTHE PACE: No faster than the slowest biker in the group \nDURATION: 4+ hours including lunch at the Crystal Lake Cafe \nLEVEL: Advanced Beginner Ebiker or very strong mountain biker \nTERRAIN: Paved roads \nRESTROOMS: At the start\, middle and end of ride \nDEBRIEFING: At the Crystal Lake Cafe \nMY CELL # IS: 805-358-5972

SUMMARY:RUSSIAN RIVER TRIP - DAY 4 RUSSIAN RIVER TO THE DEVIL'S RIBS
DESCRIPTION:This is day 4 of a 4 day trip to Guerneville on the Russian River near Santa Rosa. Guerneville is known for its natural environment and proximity to wine-tasting and redwood forests. Make sure you sign on to the events you want to attend. Four of our events (June 3\,4\,5) will start in Guerneville. Of those four\, three will be bike rides on narrow secluded paved back roads through redwood forested hills for the most part. One of the events will be a 2.5 mile inner tube float down The Russian River. (If relaxing on the Russian River isn’t your thing\, I have a bike loop route you can do instead on your own or with others that might choose to do so.) The one remote ride on June 2nd will take place 1.5 hours south of Guerneville on a narrow paved road starting basically at sea level and winding all the way to the top of Mount Tamalpais (Mt. Tam). \nMake sure you bring along your bike battery\, battery key and charger as well as a spare inner tube or slime. \n++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++\nDAY 4 – RUSSIAN RIVER TO THE DEVIL’S RIBS\n++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++\nThis ride leaves the safety of the Russian River and has us going deep into the dense woods on a very narrow\, winding and uphill road to The devil’s Ribs. Back there where you would expect Big Foot to roam\, you’ll see how isolated some poeple like to live. \nMEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: 16742 CA-116 Guernieville at 10:00am. \nROUTE \nDISTANCE: 30 miles. \nELEVATION GAIN: 2700′ \nTHE PACE: No faster than the slowest in the group \nDURATION: 3+ hours \nLEVEL: Advanced Beginner E-biker \nTERRAIN: Winding and scenic beautiful back country roads \nRESTROOMS: NONE \nMY CELL # IS: 805-358-5972

This event is a great way for me to get the message out to the Meetup community! There is no real set time for you to come. I’ll be there sometime around 5:30pm. I also will not be keeping track of when people come and go — so this is a real “casual” LA ebiking & beyond meetup event!! I am not a professional outdoor guide\, and you assume full responsibility for your safety. As we will be entering a wildlife area\, encounters with wildlife are beyond my control.
