The entire hike will have us on a dirt trail starting out in Hahamongna Watershed Park before linking up with the Flint Canyon Trail.If you enjoyed our walkabout along oak shaded trails in Montecito\, you’ll really love this area as well since we’ll be under a canopy of oaks all the way as we meander along trails in this exclusive area. \nHAHAMONGNA WATERSHED PARK:Hahamongna\, “Flowing Waters\, Fruitful Valley” in indigenous parlance\, is that rare spot in the Arroyo Seco where the mountainous watershed meets the urban plain. It is the connecting link between the San Gabriel mountains and the Los Angeles River. A gentle stream\, periodically punctuated by a flood\, flows into this basin\, nourishing five unique habitat zones that characterize only alluvial canyons near the mountains. Most sites like this in Southern California have been destroyed. \nFLINTRIDGE CANYON TRAIL:Flint Canyon Trail runs through the Flintridge area\, connecting Hahamongna Watershed Park in Pasadena on the east with the Cherry Canyon trails on the west.
