SUMMARY:Ebikes\, Fried Chicken and a Coastal hike
DESCRIPTION:We’re going to ride some EAHORA ebikes in Anaheim\, have fried chicken for lunch and then do a beach hike. \nEBIKES – We’re going to check out EAHORA bikes. This event will be over when it’s over. Also\, if you don’t plan to do all of the events\, you’ll need to ride with someone who has similar plans. If you are not fully vaccinated then you must follow all safety guidelines regarding Covid. This means 6-ft social distancing\, and wearing a mask when necessary.2. We hike as a group and will not leave anyone behind. \n****Early start time to beat the heat\, although we should be fine since this trail is partly shaded with a short walk on the fire road**** \nLet’s continue to bag some peaks in the San Gabriel mountains. \nStoddard Peak is in the front range of the San Gabriel Mountains. As we walk through a shaded forest\, we will pass through some really interesting cabins that are currently occupied by residents. So let’s be respectful of their privacy and keep the talking to a minimum until we are out in the clear. The final push to the summit is a use semi-steep path that involves some rock scrambling. Once on top\, we will be rewarded with 360-degree views of Mt. Baldy and the surrounding peaks. \nStats:Level-Strong intermediate/NO BEGINNERSDistance- 7 miles r/tGain- 1300′ (approximate)Terrain- fire road and single track trailsRestrooms- none at the trailheadDogs- NOT ALLOWED ON THIS HIKEParking- free \nDirections: from the 210 W- exit Baseline\, turn left\, then another quick left and make a right on Padua Ave\, then on Mt. This one will have us do some elevation gain of around 400′ with a 3+ mile walkabout for the dogs in Camarillo Grove County Park. \nIf you would like to take a hike for the dogs\, then bring your friendly pooch for a friendly dog hike. We’ll do this doggy trek of 3+ miles using Camarillo Grove Park Trails. If you are a hiker without a canine friend and would like to hike with our buddies\, this would be a great opportunity to take advantage of a very easy local hike in Camarillo. \nMEETUP LOCATION: Camarillo Grove County Park on the north side of 101 freeway exit Camarillo Springs Rd. in Camarillo (SEE LINK BELOW) and drive a 1/2 mile to Park entrance. You can park outside the park for free but make sure your car is off the pavement\, otherwise it’s a $3 fee to park in the Park.LINK TO THE EXACT MEETUP LOCATION:https://www.google.com/maps/place/34%C2%B012’19.2%22N+118%C2%B058’15.3%22W/@34.2063049\,-118.9856881\,16z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d34.2053285!4d-118.9709099 \nMEETUP TIME: Ready to hike no later than 8:00 a.m. \nDURATION: 2 HOURS \nDISTANCE: 3+ miles \nELEVATION GAIN: 400′ \nPACE: Beginners Pace \nMY CELL # IS 805-358-5972

SUMMARY:New Las Virgenes Creek Trail (Overgrown?)
DESCRIPTION:BEFORE YOU WILL BE MOVED TO THE GOING LIST\, YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE YOUR CDH PROFILE (The three questions must be answered with a “yes”) IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO.NEED HELP:go to: https://wp.me/P9MbG4-hC \nI will be hiking 4 miles along the relatively new Las Virgenes Creek trail again\, which we did recently as a tribute to Babu Bill. We found the trail\, after all the money and hard work put into building it\, has been neglected since it was opened. However\, at the end of our hike\, we heard workers apparently clearing out the overgrowth with chain saws. For that reason I want to go back and check their progress. This will be perfect for strong beginners that can handle 4 miles with little elevation gain and possibly an overgrown trail again. \nMEETUP LOCATION: Juan Bautista de Anza Park 3701 Lost Hills Rd\, Agoura Hills. A few people had asked about donations in his memory and the obit includes links for Audubon and COSF. I think those are good choices reflecting Babu’s interests.Remembering the life of William Ossa 1941 – 2021 \nRead William Ossa’s obituary and explore the special moments that made up their life. \nThank you for the help with the celebration of life hikes. Fitting tributes and a send off in a style Babu would appreciate. I’m glad we were able to gather and hike in his honor. \nAt some time in the future\, plan was September/October\, but with rising covid that could be pushed further out\, there will be a contra dance in Santa Barbara sponsored by Babu. Babu can be spotted in several Santa Barbara contra dance videos on Youtube. Admission will be free that night\, his gift to the contra dancing community. I’ll let you know. I think quite a few hikers would enjoy contra dancing. I tell people that if they can walk briskly\, count to 8 and follow directions (listening and obeying directions being the hard part) they can learn to contra dance. Always done with a live band and dances are taught and prompted. Easy for most to learn in a few nights. Introductory lessons given about 1/2 hour before dances start to get newcomers oriented. That is how I first met Babu many years ago. \nHappy trails\, \nWendy
