SUMMARY:Lynmere Loop from Wildwood Park - Intermediate
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE READ BELOW IN ITS ENTIRETY. \nKindly review the guidelines (link to the guidelines) to join our hikes.\nRestrictions apply for your attendance. \n\nDon’t show up unless you’re shown on the “Attending” list.\nPlan on KEEPING UP with the group and completing the entire hike or please find an alternative hike that better suits your hiking level.\nYour safety is your own personal responsibility\, but the hike leader reserves the right to ask you to leave if you come unprepared.\nNo “Plus Ones” or dogs on Weekday Trailblazer hikes.\n\nWildwood Park in Thousand Oaks is one of the most versatile local parks there is\, with 27 miles of trails skittering through rocky cliffs\, cacti-filled desert environs\, volcanic rock\, riparian forest\, and a cool\, watery canyon. Highlights of the hike an Indian cave\, volcanic rock cliffs\, and wildflowers throughout. Wildwood’s archetypal western look served as the set for The Rifleman\, Gunsmoke\, and Wagon Train back in the day\, as well as the movie Spartacus. \nIt will start at the trailhead that has steps down to the Moonridge Trail. We’ll take the fire road to Lynmere Trail. We will take a short break at the halfway point on Lynmere Trails. On the way back we may go by the Indian Cave. We’ll pass through various trails with On bridges\, crossing streams\, and have some tree canopies for relief from the heat for approximately 7+ miles with about a 1200’ elevation gain/loss. \nDirections: \nFrom the 101 in Thousand Oaks\, turn north on Lynn Road and continue 2.6 miles to Avenida De Los Arboles\, then turn left. Continue for about a mile to the end and turn into the Wildwood parking lot on the left. \nFrom the 118\, travel west to the 23\, exit at Avenida De Los Arboles and turn right. Drive further than you remember having to drive to this trailhead (10 or 15 minutes).
