The 8th Annual 4th. of July Hike & Potluck!
We had such a great time at this location the last two years, let’s do it again!!!
We will start at 7:00 p.m. and hike for about 3/4 mi. and should arrive at our viewing spot about 7:30 p.m. This will allow us plenty of time to relax, set up our food in daylight and then watch sunset before the fireworks begin at approximately 9:00 p.m.
This is a potluck, so bring something tasty to share…the theme is Americana, so think hamburgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, meat loaf, apple pie, watermelon, corn-on-the-cob, heck even pop corn! But don’t afraid to bring specialties from other countries as well…tamales, chow mein, tikka masala, lechon, ratatouille, shepards pie, etc.! Drinks…whatever hits the spot for you…but please drink responsibly!
• Distance: 3/4 mile up – 3/4 mile down (1-1/2 total).
• Elevation: 400’ gain
• From the 118 Freeway: Take the Stearns St. exit. Head south on Stearns for .7 mi., turn right on Los Angeles Ave., then turn left on Hidden Ranch Rd. and continue south east for .4 mi. We will meet in the park on the corner of Hidden Ranch Dr. and Huckleberry Oak St. (Hidden Ranch Dr. is the street just east of the train station. You will cross over the train tracks, pass apartments on your left and right and drive through the entry for Hidden Oaks and the park will be directly on your right!)
• There is street parking along Hidden Ranch Rd. (once you pass under the entrance arch for Hidden Oaks) and also on Huckleberry Oaks St., where you will find most street parking availability! Please read all street signs for any parking restrictions. Alternatively there is parking at the train station, but you will need to walk a little bit (we are hikers so the extra 1/3 mile shouldn’t faze anyone!) So please try to arrive early!
