SEQUOIA NATIONAL FOREST – Salmon Creek Falls and The Natural Water Slide
Let’s hike again in The Sequoia National Forest. This time we’ll make it a two day Wet and Wild Water adventure. The first day will have us hiking to Salmon Creek Falls followed by a car shuttle to The Natural Water Slide on Alder Creek. The second day will be a hike to The 7- T-Cups followed by a car shuttle to Peppermint Falls. You’ll each need to make your own arrangements for staying at a hotel or camping in the area and signing on to the hikes you want to do. Hopefully, you’ll be available to sign on for both days. Just make sure you sign up for each one you plan on doing.
FIRST DAY OF THE WET AND WILD ADVENTURE
SALMON CREEK FALLS: “A short and strenuous little-known trip to an incredible secluded canyon waterfall in the southern Sequoia National Forest, just north of Kernville. This route is mostly on use-trails and can be a moderate rock-hopping excursion or an intense scrambling trip with a few class 3 bouldering sections. Either way, you get to see an unbelievable canyon with a majestic waterfall (and sometimes TWO waterfalls in wet years!) in a secluded grove.” – Modern Hiker
On our way over to the Natural Water slide, we’ll stop for lunch at McNally’s Burgers
It’s not like we have a choice for lunch, so if a burger won’t work for you, then plan on bringing a lunch.
NATURAL WATER SLIDE AND THE LITTLE TEA CUPS: Seeing this video says it all
Here’s the chance to see this area while there’s a good flow of water. We’ll be moving at a very comfortable pace, so no faster than the slowest hiker.
WARNING: THE WWW & WW MEMBERS ARE COMBINING FORCES ON THIS TRIP – SO PLAN ON GETTING WET. SOMEHOW, I SEEM TO ALWAYS BE THEIR TARGET WHEN I LEAST EXPECT IT AS SEEN IN THE FOLLOWING VIDEO:
WHICH LEADS TO ALL OUT WATER FIGHTS AS THIS VIDEO SHOWS:
THIS COULD PROVE TO BE OUR WILDEST WATER FIGHT YET, SINCE THERE’S A LOT OF PAYBACK TALK GOING ON.
The terrain will determine our outcome, otherwise, what ever it takes to accomplish THE TASK (Time, Energy, Fear, Pain, Blood, Sweat, Tears etc.).
After the hike, we’ll have dinner in Kernville where most of us will be staying.
CARPOOL ARRANGEMENTS: You’ll all be responsible for making contact with others if you wish to carpool with someone. Bring your SUV if you have one since we may have access to dirt roads that would make it easier to reach our objectives.
MEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: 8:30 am we’ll all meet along side the Kern River. SEE MAP BELOW
HOTEL OR CAMPING ARRANGEMENTS: You’ll be responsible for making your own reservations. I will be staying in Kernville at the Kern Riverfront Lodge for two nights (Wednesday and Thursday).
