Sandstone Peak (Mexican Food Afterwards)

August 25, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Let’s go on one of the best moderate hikes of LA: Sandstone Peak.

At 3,111 feet, Sandstone Peak is the tallest point in the Santa Monica Mountains. The trail is a 6.25-mile loop with 1,075 feet elevation gain, so it’s a moderate hike. Although not very high, the views from Sandstone Peak are among the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.

I’m cross posting this on Adventure-us and this is actually Adventure-us’ anniversary hike, so I’m hoping we get a nice little group going.

After the hike, as we’ve always done, we will go get beer and something. The something this time will be Mexican food at this nice little restaurant called Sea Casa. Sea Casa is on a big mall with a big parking lot, which is perfect because we make Sea Casa our meeting place, since there is limite parking at the trailhead. So we’ll meet at Sea Casa, organize carpools and drive up to the trailhead together.

We’ll plan on leaving the parking lot at 10:00 AM, so be there at around 9:45 for us to organize carpool.

Bring at least two liters of water, as it’s going to be hot and there is no water on the trail.

All right, see you all there!

Trail statistics are approximate.  For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
