EAST FORK LION CANYON FALLS
ANOTHER CDH CLASSIC:
This trek had the best surprise in the way of a local waterfall above Ojai. The falls were on the east fork of Lion Canyon. The picture says it all. This will be the perfect time to see both the Rose Valley Falls and East Lion Canyon Falls with all the recent rains we’ve had. We’ll see these falls via a the following trails: Lion Canyon Trail and the Rose Valley Falls Trail.
MEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: Thousand Oaks Park and Ride at the Corner of S. Rancho Rd and Halland Dr., Thousand Oaks at 8:00 a.m.
MEETUP DIRECTIONS: It’s just south of the 101 Fwy and 23 Fwy interchange. Have a full tank of gas and be willing to drive if needed. Those that don’t drive can help pay for gas.
SEE MAP ABOVE
ALTERNATE MEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: For those that want to meet the group near the trailhead, drive up Hwy. 33 to Rose Valley Rd. We’ll meet at that intersection at 9:30 a.m. and from that point we will arrange the car shuttle to the two trailheads.
DISTANCE: 6+ miles
ELEVATION GAIN/LOSS: 1000’+
THE PACE: No faster than the slowest Trekker
DURATION: I’d like to get back to the cars by 3:30 p.m. and stop off for a debriefing at an Ojai restaurant.
TERRAIN: Single and double track trails along with several stream crossings. Most likely we’ll be getting our shoes wet.
LEVEL: Strong Intermediate
