This will be our third Hump Day beach hike for 2018. It’s definitely beginner friendly as there is some minimal gain and it’s only about 4 miles. We will be going to Point Dume on this one, best known recently as the location of Iron Man’s house. After the hike, start of summer festivities and snacks will continue at the Coral Beach Cantina at 29350 Pacific Coast Hwy in Malibu (see Google map directions at the end of this write-up)
We will NOT be waiting an additional 10 minutes at the start, so please be there on time. If you are late, walk to the waterline and turn left.
We’ll be meeting on the beach in front of the “Sunset Restaurant” ,which has a great Happy hour but somewhat limited seating space. There is FREE Parking along Westward Beach Road as it leads toward the Sunset restaurant. It also gets really crowded there so you may have to backtrack quite a bit to find a parking space. So, please try to arrive early so you’ll have tine to park and walk to the restaurant.
Since there are very few stories of people who went to the beach and were never seen again, it should be safe.
If you get cold easily, a jacket might be in order. We will be going to Point Dume on this one and so you don’t want to be barefoot for that portion of the hike. Afterwards, we’ll head back North along the beach. Sandals will be the preferred footwear. Shorts are good as you probably will get wet and a towel to get the sand off your feet is also a good idea. I strongly encourage you to get your feet wet. It’s good for both your feet and your soul.
DIRECTIONS: The address 6800 Westward Beach Road, Malibu, CA. Westward Beach Rd is off of Pacific Coast Hwy, just South of Zuma Beach. There is EXPENSIVE paid parking just past Sunset Restaurant. Try to find a free parking spot on Westward before the restaurant if you can.
