This will be our first Hump Day beach hike for 2019. These are always fun. It’s definitely beginner friendly as there is no appreciable gain and it’s only 2-2.5 miles. After the hike, start of summer festivities and dinner will continue at Spruzzos (https://www.google.co.in/maps/place/29575+Pacific+Coast+Hwy,+Malibu,+CA+90265,+USAfirstname.lastname@example.org,-118.818769,16z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x80e8185987709e5d:0xd84f01b4ac00f99a!8m2!3d34.0170701!4d-118.8188597?hl=en). We will NOT be waiting an additional 10 minutes at the start due to the early sunset. If you’re late, walk toward the ocean and turn right. You’ll either catch up to us or meet us on the return trip.
We’ll be meeting on the beach in front of the “Aloha Beach Camp”,which will be closed but was one of the very few places I could find that had an actual address on Zuma Beach.
The parking lot entrance is at: 30000 Pacific Coast Hwy Malibu, CA 90265 (https://www.google.com/maps/place/30000+Pacific+Coast+Hwy,+Malibu,+CAemail@example.com,-118.8202701,19z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x80e8185b1c83494f:0x43862565648f10!8m2!3d34.0158729!4d-118.8203318). There’s pay parking in the lot (probably about $3 at that hour) , Carpooling is recommended. The alternative is the free Zuma parking alongside southbound Pacific Coast Hwy, which was wide open last time we tried this.
Since there are very few stories of people who went to the beach and were never seen again, it should be safe.
If you get cold easily, a jacket might be in order. Sandals will be the preferred footwear. Shorts are good as you probably will get wet and a towel to get the sand off your feet is also a good idea. I strongly encourage you to get your feet wet. It’s good for both your feet and your soul.
DIRECTIONS: The address 30100 is 0.75 miles up PCH (northwest) from the Zuma beach entrance. Heading Northwest, the last road you’ll pass on the right before our start point is Morning View Drive. If you used the paid parking, we’re near lifeguard tower #8.
If you bring the address up in Google maps street view, you will see a building on the beach with “30100” printed on it facing PCH.
