Throop Peak is a 9,142 feet (2,786 m) peak of the San Gabriel Mountains, in the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument and Angeles National Forest, in Los Angeles County, California with beautiful 360 views surrounding peaks views Baldy,Mt baden Powell, Mt Lewis and other Prominent peaks.
TAKE the Angeles Crest Highway 2 to Dawson Gap – the highest point on the road. There is an orange Cal-Trans shed by the parking area.see picture in photo section. There is ample parking in three places along either side of the road. If you are traveling east, it is past Islip Saddle, and if you are traveling west, it is past Vincent Gap. The trail begins across from the Cal Trans shed.
