Let’s Do Some Late-Summer Rafting!!!
This will be a camping trip (2 nights) with a full-day rafting trip on the South Fork of the American River!
The trip will be 21 miles and be Class II-III rapids. Once you sign-up, I will direct you to the rafting company where you will pay them directly for the actual rafting trip. I am only organizing this, I am not a rafting guide and cannot assist you in determining your fitness for the rafting adventure. Your contract is solely with the rafting company.
As I understand it, rafting is an inherently dangerous activity and if you go, you will be doing so under an agreement with and guidance from the rafting company.
The rafting company has their own campground, so we will be staying there. They rent rents too!
Friday dinner: We will be meeting in the afternoon/evening of the 13th, so dinner is on your own. I’m sure we can have a campfire and do pot-luck.
Saturday breakfast: we will pay for a hot breakfast served by the rafting company (just roll out of your tent and eat!). Cost included with your rafting adventure payment.
Saturday lunch: served riverside by the rafting company. Cost included with your rafting adventure payment.
Saturday dinner: probably dinner in town (learning from last year … I will make a reservation!). Cost is on your own.
Sunday breakfast: in camp, on your own.
To rafting company: $197.40

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.
Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
