People travel far and wide to view this phenomenon afforded only by the recent rains we have been having! The Super Bloom is in full display at Lake Elsinore/Walker Canyon. We ought to catch a glimpse of it in person.
The location is 1 hour 45 minutes from Thousand Oaks. To avoid the crowd, we will start out early at 6:00 am and aim to arrive there by 7:30 am. If you can meet up with us, great! If not, just try to get there safely and early and be amazed!
The parking is along the road right at the corner of Walker Canyon Rd. and Lake St.. Once parked, there is a mile of walk before entering into the valley where the blooms are.
You will be going on the Walker Canyon Trail which is a 3 1/2 mile trail with an elevation gain of 700′. Hiking shoes are highly recommended. But, it should be easy as kids and strollers are common sights.
Bring the usuals – sun screen, hat, snacks, water – and, of course, cameras.
Direction – Where-ever you are, get to the 15 FWY and head towards Lake Elsinore. Take exit 81 for Lake St and park on the northbound side of the FWY. The trail starts right at the intersection of Lake Street & Walker Canyon Road.
We will post our phone numbers the day of so that you could have a point of contact!
